Why you got a server? You own hosting company? How fast is your internet?

No I don't host anything publicly on there, I need one for work (Ive been working from home for 3+ years now) i use it to spin up VMs and customer databases (some are 400GB in size). My internet is 200 Down 20 Up in the new year i wasa thinking of upgrading to 1000 Down 100 Up

I don’t really have a set up, (barely) casual gaming and most of the work I do is on the go or at various locations.

An ASUS Zenbook for daily life stuff, literally email/web browsing occasional lite gaming.

HP elitebook for work - I work for the NHS this is what they gave me, but it’s not bad for its use case to be fair.

Microsoft Surface Pro X - this is more for video conferences and glorified note taker I don’t tend to use this for much else.

I see no point in taking pictures of a couple of laptops but heck done it anyway!

This is my development setup.

PC - Acer Aspire A515-54

I have 2 USB monitor adapters. I use my TV as a monitor. Using a cheap table from Walmart, with my monitors mounted for more table space 🙂

Its a little less than $1000 setup and gets the job done. (Might even be overkill lmao)

All I need now is to manage all those cables like Dayo 😛

Everything about the set is up beautiful, very neat and organised professionally. The window view too 😍

@Dayo How was your journey to end up with a set up like this, seems like you are the data center

The comments here crack me up haha  🤣

Gross! Use literally any Jetbrains product

While I want to agree, I can't. Depending on what you're working with, VSCode is a solid choice.

When I played around with React for a while, VSCode with a couple of plugins worked brilliantly.

My opinion isn't because it's free, either - I have the full suite license for Jetbrains, so I could have used webstorm.

Credit where credit is due for VSCode.

Agreed, do also own the full suite for Jetbrains ( only really use Data Grip ) can't recommend VSCode enough - it's plethora of plugins allow for a pretty robust set up. Primary use case is Vue.

Totally going off topic now, but we have been for a while, so never mind!

Not sure if you're completely sold on current theme, but there's a developer called Dayle Rees who wrote up a tonne of themes for multiple editors, VSCode included.

They can be previewed here - http://daylerees.github.io/

Peacock and Zacks were 2 of my favourite - I'm a dark theme kinda dude though, as we established recently.

So my work setup has changed a little the past week or so as we have converted our garage into a new room, Ive moved in there and my partner has my old office so she has more room working from home.

Ive now got a lot more storage as well as a video conferencing area, the TV has a old dell optiplex plugged into it with a webcam so if i ahve any work calls or want to zoom the family its always setup.
