Ignoring the fact that it's the same creator; Keep in mind that there are lots of games out there. It's very easy to see multiple games that have the same type of mods, without ever having seen someone elses game/s. The more games that are created, the fewer original ideas there are forthcoming. Just sayin'.

A lot of players like to sell off their donator items for in-game cash. I've found that games that have more than 1 type of currency , such as gold coins, cash and then the donated items, creates a rapidly increasing economy. Some ideas to slow the economy. 1) Limit it to, as an example, just cash. 2)Put a minimum and a maximum amount that players can sell their donator items for. 3)Donator items purchased from other players become fully the purchasers item and cannot be resold. 4) (My favourite) Let players who can afford to donate, buy the donator items for friends.

Dayo ... when I had DANE up and running, I did the Advent calendar for Christmas ... huge success on it too. Everyone loved it. For Halloween, I took an image of Frankenstein and cut it into 20 different sections and hid them throughout the game, even on player profiles. Once they had all 20 pieces, they then had to go to the "Doctor" to have him sewn back together. They had a 1 in 10 chance of him being sewn back together wrong. If he was sewn together wrong, then they had to find the "Surgeon" to correct the "Doctors" mistake. Once Frankie was all in one piece, they won different prizes based on whether they needed the Doctor or the Surgeon. The Surgeon prizes were higher in value since they had to pay the Doctor first and then the Surgeon. This one was a huge hit with the players as well.

What other ways would you suggest to stop a player from creating multiple accounts? I've never really given it any thought or looked into it for alternate routes to stop this from happening.

As usual I'm a day (or two) late and a dollar short. But what the hell, that's nothing new. I've worked with SRB on a number (lost count) of occasions. Him always helping me, not the other way around. He's never failed to come through on what he's promised to do. He makes sure that I'm fully satisfied with his services. This is starting to sound like a gigolo review. Although there was that one time he lost patience with me that involved a midget, elephant and stick man. Seriously ... he's a treat to work with. I trust him in all things related to my coding needs. He's had access to my work many times and has never abused that and has always solved any issue I've asked for his help with. Thanks big guy!

Do it! Pictures. Pictures. Pictures. ?

Both of the games I'm currently working on are. It's what I've learned/learning from. Holy hell! Don't throw something new at me!! I'd be royally fecked.

Hey folks. I've tried repeatedly to get error messages to show on a game that I'm working on. You know those messages that say something like "unexpected { or ;". Those kinds of messages. For that matter, I'm not getting any of the error messages to popup. When there is an error in the code, I'm just getting a blank white screen. Now, if it's a minimum number of lines of code, it's usually easy enough to find, right. But when you have a lot of lines of code, you can spend hours by blocking certain code, trying it, then unblocking the next and so on to find the error. Any ideas on what I can do to get this to work? Any help/suggestions would be greatly appreciated. Thanks a bunch.

I think in a large part it's because a lot of dedicated "text-gamers" are used to a certain layout, certain mods, etc.. And for the most part are just too damned lazy to try something new or to at least give it a go. They jump on, can't be bothered to read anything, which is really idiotic when you consider, don't find what they are used to doing on others games which they've become so comfortable with and then leave.

I don't know, Sniko. It looks like you and I are in the same ballpark! ?

It certainly does. Good to see you, Djk.

Nice work!

Woot! Glad to see you back! I've missed my online crack addiction. All is right with my mini-universe again. ?

Recently hired Sniko to help me with a great number of things and I was completely satisfied with all that he did. He would not close the job until he was sure that I was happy with his work. Great work ethic, easy to work with, explains things when asked. I will be working with him in the future on other things and highly recommend him to anyone that requires his services. Thanks again, Sniko!

W3 Theory - Peter Leaman

Thank you, gentlemen. @ Dayo ... thank you for the offer. @ Guest ... It's good that you are keeping busy! Bad for me in the sense that you have done work for me before and I was very happy with your work. @ Sniko ... I've pm'ed you and also added you to skype and look forward to working with you. :D -

@ Guest ... You're absolutely right. I think I'm fuxt. I "should" have known better. The thing is though ... I've been hosting with him now for close to 4 years, something like that, and never had a problem. Obviously, given recent events, never having had a problem doesn't mean there won't be. @ Sniko ... Those are wonderful suggestions, and I'm not being sarcastic, I truly think they are. The big problem is I haven't a clue on where to do any of what you've said. I have been looking into getting shared hosting for the short term, though the likelihood of them offering crons is unlikely. I have found in some of my old files that I do have "cronless crons" which may be the way for me to go short term which would negate a hosting site allowing for crons. I guess overall, I can't blame anyone but myself for being lazy about the backups etc. It's just extremely annoying that after this length of time, that Peter has no problem doing this to someone. At the very least, he could respond and apologize and give some reason as to why this has happened, even if it's a crap reason .. it would still be a reason. Once I do find a host ... would either of you like to make a little green on the side for helping me to get McCodes set up so that I can at least install the files that I do have so that I can work from there. I'm also going to need someone to do some graphics and css files as well. Thanks for your responses, gentlemen. -

It has been a very long time since I've posted anything on MWG, so I apologize for reviving a long dead thread. I honestly admit that I have always enjoyed working with Peter (see post # 24), but now I find myself in a real jam. On Friday (5th) I received emails from some of my players telling me that they weren't able to get into my game. Due to circumstances I was not able to get online until Saturday, and lo and behold I'm not able to access anything. Nothing. Not my game, not the cpanel, not the second game I'm working on. Nothing. I call Peter on Saturday to let him know that there seems to be an issue and could he fix the problem. He asked me to send to him on Skype what the problem was. I did so. He tells me that oh yes .. I see the problem, the server you are on needs to be updated. Awesome! He told me he would let me know when the problem was taken care of. Great! I've never had an issue before that he hasn't fixed pretty much immediately. Well ... here it is Wednesday and still no joy. I've left him a few voice mails, some posts on Skype and he still isn't answering me. I've done what checking I can to try and get to the bottom of this but it appears that even all of his stuff is offline as well now. I have no idea what to do now. Everything I had was hosted with him. All my files ... gone. All the css files gone. Which by the way Peter did for me and I was extremely satisfied with. I still have some of the files saved as I was working on them, though certainly not even close to what there is needed to migrate them somewhere else .. .which seems to be about my only recourse at this time. I will readily admit that part of this is my fault for not keeping my own backups on my laptop, but when backups were being done on the server, I suppose I got lazy and didn't do this. I really would not have a problem with this if it weren't for the fact that my game was still making money. It wasn't a lot of money by any means but it was some. My questions are; Anyone have any idea what is going on? What options I have available to me? What the hell do I do now? Any suggestions/feedback/help would be greatly appreciated. Thanks for your time. -

Rather than limit the number of times a player can be hit by others ... why not implement a system that the player can use to protect themselves instead?
-
Sorry for the delay to this ... all has been taken care of. Thanks Peter for your quick response.

Loan System for Bank (ideas bounced around too)
newttster replied to Script47's topic in Requests & In Production
As this was just a base model that I put up for Script47 to use as a reference, it's obvious that it further needs to be secured, etc to suit ones purpose ... how about shutting your pie whole and actually contributing something worthwhile to the thread, instead of being an asswipe. @ Guest. Thank you for taking the time to run with the idea. I'm sure it works fine as most of your stuff usually does.
