  1. I'm going to publicly ask for more information. Please respond publicly.   What type of hosting account? What hosting company? Can you provide some background on the company? How does someone become eligible for this giveaway? First come first serve? Unlimited everything? Does that mean unlimited money? :p Why is the OP so vague?
  2. Yes, it was at a Louis CK video. Have you ever made a decision that turned out differently to what you expected, but was for the better?
  3. It's not a downside if you go with DigitalOcean! #DOFanBoy2k14.

    Help with tables

What do you mean by "i cant figure out which way round it all goes"?
  5. Those are still pretty vague requirements. > I want something better and fun. Wut. Not descriptive enough. Tell the programmer what you want them to do to meet those "requirements", or is that the programmers job too?
  6. It looks, feels, and smells pretty dodgy. Congratulations for getting 3 of my senses going. I'm happy to be proved wrong though! But scripts at £10 each?! By the way, I'm assuming these are full engines and not modifications do the above engines.
  7. I'll look more into the code later, but adding "competition_starting" into users is just wow. Where's the normalisation? INT(11) is 4 bytes. Say I have 5,000 users, that's (if math serves me correctly) 20,000 bytes of wasted storage. Have it in it's own table, and you've saved yourself 19,996 bytes.
  8. You've got to click "Enhanced Version".

  10. Not to mention the insecurities. Whoever said the code is looking clean needs to take another look, no offence.
  11. #Illuminati.
  12.   Tutorial Great, ok! [*]Troops At first, I didn't even know what the map did (as in I didn't know I could move. Perhaps highlight the controls, or make them stand out a little more? Perhaps use some graphic rather than "<", ">", "-", "^", "v" characters). [*]Map How far into the future? I feel if it's not done correctly, it'll be a game ruiner
  13. No auto-login on register :/ Perhaps navigate through the map using AJAX. A whole page refresh (which is pretty slow) is painful for the end user and after 1 move, I was willing to give up The tutorial should update itself after you've completed the step, IMO. Don't show the tutorial if the body is blank. I have to manually turn it off. If it's finished, it should "turn off" automatically [*]It seems I can't really do anything until I buy troops. How do I buy troops? Oh, I have to make ~15 requests to buy troops... Okay.... Nice concept, but pretty lengthy And after buying a Brigade, I only have enough $ to buy 1 Humvee [*]Perhaps map the requests with the keyboard arrow keys? Make it much more faster. (Arrow key presses + AJAX requests = Happy end user)
  14. What's with the uppercase/lowercase wording?
  15. Your hardware; Is a limitation, as you're limited to the functionality of that hardware.
  16. Wow, not even hardware limitations?
  17. Any ETA on the answers to these?   Any ETA on this too?
  18. PS. That one is vulnerable to attacks - better stay away from it ;)
  19. Great request, and a great job for a newer programmer to complete. May I suggest using Markdown, rather than BBCode?
  20. I'm not even going to look at the code until you say what part are you specifically stuck on?, also, just paste the code that is relevant to the part you're stuck on.
  21. I'm not usually one for reposting, but three hosting threads in 1 day....   How much service experience do you have? Do you manage the server yourself, or do a 3rd party? Do you backup the server contents, and if so, what are your backup methods? If the service has downtime, how quickly can you fix it? Are we allowed to have SSH access? Can we install packages? Ie. PEAR packages? How up-to-date is your technology? Apache/Nginx version PHP version ... Are they the latest version, or the latest stable version? How much of a notice will you give to clients notifying them of an upgrade to a service?       To answer your question; $5 per month with DigitalOcean 512MB / 1 CPU 20GB SSD DISK 1TB TRANSFER   If you can make a deal, coupling that cost and their excellent support and documentation, I'd be surprised.
  22. Same contradiction in the OP, too @Op: don't say 100% uptime guarantee. Anybody can take your server(a) offline with a simple DOS attack, unless your protected by a service like CloudFlare :?
