Very true. That passed my mind when I wrote my reply. Good catch, though! -

Okay, thanks. I've messaged Reecey12345 on Skype, and he said he'll provide the evidence we need tomorrow, after a meeting at the bank. -

That shows you both cloned Peters work. Either I'm missing something or you both cloned Peters work, and you're throwing it in the mix to provide evidence against something that happend a few days ago? I can see why you're providing the screenshot, to show that Reecey12345 cloned Peters work which is how he, could possibly, have gotten the template without purchasing it off DeathXXX. I think all that will settle this is for Reecey12345 to prove that he did send the £8.50 via bank transfer to DeathXXX Pretty sure that's intent to distribute (I'm no lawyer) -

I crashed Google Chrome instance for running some code to imitate clicking "Click Me" 10 million times. Cool concept/game though, Script47!

Valid point. But you can make it like that by manipulating a screenshot, or scrubbing Skype history. -

I understand what you're saying, and I did think about this before I got into contact with him. This is why I adopted a few social engineering tactics (in my view, they are) and contacted him as soon as it became public. From starting at a low price, proving my authenticity (via PayPal e-mail address and a PayPal screenshot of a nice balance screen) to pique his interest. For 17 year old (I'm basing this off his Skype name; reecesamuel97), 1.5k is a lot of money to throw away, even at a chance of losing - Game theory. From the evidence given up to the point of initial contact between myself and Reecey12345, I was only interested in one thing; Would he pass on the ripped work from your site for some $ I didn't take into account fully that he'd fully ripped your work, which was outlined in later thread postings. I fully agree with you on that point. He did show some interest in a deal, which was my intention. However, he didn't follow through, and declined every offer I threw at him. If Reecey12345 genuinely thought he'd purchased the template (which DeathXXX and Reecey12345 still need to confirm/deny with solid evidence), then I still stand by my opinion of a misunderstanding. I fully agree with you that all evidence provided cannot be missed/ignored, much like the evidence I posted. I love your work Peter, and this isn't a dig at you. I'm sorry if you felt offended or insulted by my post, it wasn't my intention. My intentions were to find out if he would sell your work for money. - - - Updated - - - Implying Skype is the only channel of communication.... -

After phishing Reecey12345 for a while, it's apparent that this could all be a misunderstanding. Here's what went down; I created a new account, and sent the user the following; I then created a fake Skype account, and got talking to him. [00:38:06] *** Reece Southern has shared contact details with ningle087. *** [00:38:51] Reece Southern: Who is this? [00:38:57] ningle087: Ningle from mwg [00:39:50] Reece Southern: I will not send you the files what so ever. I will only create 4 designs for you of my own for that price. $200 I'd charge, but removing 2 hours I will charge you $185. [00:40:06] ningle087: I really need those designs! [00:40:25] ningle087: I can make a 200$ profit on each design [00:40:49] ningle087: You said you had 15? [00:41:07] ningle087: We can make 6k [00:41:40] Reece Southern: I've changed, no matter what them designs ain't going to to you. It's illegal to do and I made a mistake in the past with them therefor you are not getting them. [00:41:40] ningle087: All my clients are ready, but my designer bailed on me (he's not contacted me for a week) and handover is tomorrow [00:42:03] ningle087: I'll send you $1k [00:42:08] ningle087: I really need to close this deal [00:42:40] Reece Southern: Like I said, I can create them for you but I wont be sending you things that are not mine. [00:42:49] ningle087: Not even for 1k? [00:42:55] Reece Southern: Nope. [00:43:04] ningle087: Easiest 1k you will make [00:43:17] ningle087: And for your prices, I'll send other clients of mine to you [00:44:58] Reece Southern: If you want designs prove your clients to me, make quarter of the payment and then Myself & my 2 other workers who are great with designs will create some, if we are to create 3 each that's 9. We will make them top quality we just need themes you wish to have. But work that isn't mine wont be sent to you, sorry. [00:45:41] ningle087: I'm a middleman - it's my business. I don't pass my client info on so I can stay in business [00:45:57] ningle087: I'm a businessman and sometimes we do things unethical [00:46:19] ningle087: For 1k right now, what's to lose? You'll be 1k up and i can close my deals [00:46:19] Reece Southern: Then your stuck. And if it is a business what is your business? [00:46:34] ningle087: I'm a middleman, I told you [00:47:53] Reece Southern: Then we cannot progress this deal unless you allow us to create them for you, we could get them all created by tomorrow night if we are to stick around for the whole day. [00:48:37] ningle087: Can I see any examples if your work? [00:48:43] ningle087: As they need to be high quality [00:48:47] ningle087: Like peters [00:50:46] Reece Southern: I don't have mafia type layout examples. I have several habbo fansite designs I've created in the past when I was receiving work there. You can see one design @ multi-gaming.co.uk once you login which is pretty simple but easy on the eyes, the only game type layout I have created. [00:53:21] ningle087: It's okay, but I need quality like peters. My clients are high end, turning over ~5k per month in profit for their games [00:53:44] ningle087: They won't go for the quality of multi gaming [00:53:46] ningle087: Apologies [00:55:01] Reece Southern: It's an easy on the eye layout. Simple and effective and reviews ive had is that players prefer it more than other games they've played for the reason it's easy on the eyes. We will work until it reaches your standards. [00:55:46] ningle087: I need something like peters work & I understand you want to close the deal with your work, but my clients need something very close to peters work [00:56:00] ningle087: I'll give you my final offer of $1.5k [00:56:07] ningle087: Transferable tonight [00:57:17] Reece Southern: No problem, best of luck, I'd happily take that amount, but it's illegal so I wont do this. [00:57:29] ningle087: Is that your final answer? [00:57:38] Reece Southern: Yes. [00:57:57] ningle087: 1.5k plus I'll outsource all future client work to you, if they like you (I'll show them your work after this deal is done) [00:59:45] ningle087: It could be the start of a great partnership [00:59:57] Reece Southern: Dude, I am not sending you them. I can only provide a link to you to get them yourself to zip whatever up. Other than that It would be me making an illegal act. [01:00:09] ningle087: Provide the link [01:01:01] Reece Southern: Unfortunatly not. [01:01:09] ningle087: You said you could [01:01:38] Reece Southern: I can, but then I'm allowing you to get yourself into trouble. [01:01:54] ningle087: I won't get in trouble [01:02:05] Reece Southern: Trust me, you will [01:02:10] ningle087: Plus, it's none of your concern if I do, and you'd be 1.5k richer [01:02:41] Reece Southern: I'd believe that ridiculous amount of money if i received it. [01:07:36] *** ningle087 sent 6D71C345-49C5-49CB-AE6E-40A3C608B83F.jpg *** [01:07:50] ningle087: & 1.5k is ready to be yours [01:09:38] Reece Southern: Proof of email etc. [01:09:53] ningle087: Email of what? [01:10:07] Reece Southern: your paypal [01:10:27] ningle087: Why would I give you my paypal address? [01:10:36] ningle087: I'm the one sending you money [01:11:51] Reece Southern: Something to prove that image you sent, how do i believe that's yours. [01:14:51] ningle087: Okay [01:17:41] ningle087: http://paypal.com/verified/ [01:21:30] Reece Southern: Now explain the reason im your only skype contact and you messaged me instantly after signup on MWG. [01:22:06] ningle087: Ningle is a temporary name, so that you can't go behind my back and find my clients [01:24:16] Reece Southern: Theres just not enough identity to go ahead with this deal. [01:24:32] ningle087: That's how we would do this [01:24:42] ningle087: So we can't rat each other out [01:25:24] Reece Southern: Atleast signup to my game with your real IP instead of a proxy. [01:25:40] ningle087: That would compromise my identity [01:25:51] ningle087: Allowing you to do a backtrace [01:25:57] ningle087: Which I don't appreciate [01:27:22] Reece Southern: Ok. [01:31:20] ningle087: So? We have a deal? [01:31:30] Reece Southern: Anyhow, you will have to find someone else to do design work for you to sell to your clients. I will not be providing you someone elses work. [01:31:41] ningle087: Ok [01:31:42] ningle087: Bye [01:31:51] Reece Southern: Good day. I then faked a PayPal account showing a nice balance, and a transaction from one of my "clients"; He asked me (you can see from the chat) to verify my PayPal address. I quickly created a gMail account, and added the e-mail to my verified account, and made it the primary e-mail. You can see this makes my new e-mail look legitimate, and that I've been in business for over 2 years. He didn't bite, considering everything looks legitimate at my end. Conclusion I think Reecey12345 genuinely thought he had purchased the template off DeathXXX to be able to use on his site. Resulting from the evidence I've published, it's also apparent that Reecey12345 was not up for making a quick $1.5k for giving me the zip file of Peters work, which only reinforces my opinion about Reecey12345 That is all, your honor. "Peter Starr" and "Ningle" are fictional. Made up on the spot. They don't reflect anyone. This was done as an experiment out of my own time, and doesn't reflect anyone/anything I've worked with/for. -
I'm unsure what you mean by "if you wanted to use the raw username field it's then not available." - Do you mean it'll have extra characters in it, and may frick some stuff up? If so, I would be very disappointed if anything used the username as a key/index. Going through each file is something that's useless to do, if you can change the username is one place, and call the function once - assuming that a username isn't a key/index (as it should be numeric and something that doesn't change, ie: userid) You said you would need to style it, so that was my counter argument. In essence, I was offering a solution that only needed a function to be called once, and writes to an array once (which is perfectly fine to do (manipulation of data) assuming this data isn't used as a key/index - which it shouldn't be) instead of going through 200+ files to change all occurrences of outputting a username to call a function, which is going to be called multiple times. Either; Write once, call once Call hundreds of times, modify loads of files The former of those two seems most logical.
-
> sufficient Bad choice of words :P It implies it's "enough" and didn't exceed your expectation. I'm disappointed :P
-
Your first option will require you to find all occurrences of the username output, and replace it. Why spend time doing that, when you can write a function and call it once (see below point) [*]Your second solution is a little like the first Repeated calls on that one function Tip: Try passing it in as a reference, so you only need to call the function once. Also, you've said "More complex, but generally better way" but didn't explain in full why to support your claim. If you think you did by the last sentence, you didn't. It would still require CSS (like the first solution) - especially in the example given.
-
Why not add something like this into global_func function doFormatUsername( &$r ) { //Indexed by user_level. $arrColours = array("1" => "FFFFFF", "2" => "CC0000"); if(array_key_exists('user_level', $r) ) { $r['username'] = "<span style=\"color:#". $arrColours[$r['user_level']] ."\">". $r['username'] ."</span>"; } } Then call that function where ever $ir or $r is defined. ... $r = $db->fetch_row(); doFormatUsername($r);
-
Wait. You doubted DigitalOcean?!
-
<font> is deprecated Why put extra workload on yourself? Why not rename the $ir['username'] value? if ($r['display_pic']) { $display = "<img src='{$r['display_pic']}' width='17' height='17' />"; } else { $display = "<img src='images/nopic.png' width='15' height='15' />"; } if ($r['user_level'] == 1) { $rankcolour = "#ffffff"; } if ($r['user_level'] == 2) { $rankcolour = "#06519b"; } if ($r['user_level'] >= 3) { $rankcolour = "#49b536"; } if ($ir['donatordays']) { $d = "<img src='donator.gif' alt='Donator: {$r['donatordays']} Days Left' />"; $rankcolour = "red"; } $user = $r['username']; $r['username'] = "<span style=\"color:$rankcolour;\">$display $user $d</span>"; You could even adapt this into an array. Also, please tidy your code. I've noticed we're using $r and not $ir. McCodes, IIRC, uses $r when it's for a user other than the person viewing the page - so this may be why you're not getting the results you're after.
