You effectively start with a blank box, so a lot of freedom. I've got GitLab running on one instance, and no e-mails have been delayed, or not sent because of limits :) (It's the only application I run that sends e-mails more than never :p) For more information, see here.

Digital Ocean   VERY fast support time replies Very nice and usable UI Offers a lot of images for quick install
  3.   A simple Google search.   Source
  4. A class that does what, exactly? I'm intrigued
  5.   Proof of purchase PayPal screenshot (Although, can be easily faked.) McCodes account (Although, can be easily faked.) McCodes staff verbally confirming a valid license Manually check with the license checker (because your license will be bound to your domain) [*]"Peripherals" If you're spending ~$100 on a licence, you can most likely afford a TLd (.tk, no.) If you're spending ~100$ on a license, you're probably someone serious, so you won't go for free, unreliable hosting [*]Logic "my friend told me i need to buy a licence or something to host a game is it needed and whats its use" - If you were going to buy a licence/serious game owner, you would know what a software license is, and why it's needed.     That, or just, you know....fake it?
  6. Not to start a war, but.... > I wish you luck. Start the reply off with a positive, focusing on OPs project. > But there are too many voting sites out there for Text Based Games. Hmmm, some "friendly" advice (but not backed up with any evidence). > You should aim at another Gaming Market Derailing OPs aims with his project. Giving commands such as "should", but not giving any evidence why this would be beneficial to OP, apart from one claim absent of evidence. > like as my own FPS game is to be released in the coming months Potentially giving OP some material to work with. An initial listing (self-promoting listing. Trying to gain awareness of your project). Potentially derailing the thread and focus on your project. > First Person Shooter voting sites are lacking. Hmmm, some "friendly" advice (but not backed up with any evidence). Saying all that, OP doesn't actually restrict his site to just text-based games. He doesn't hint towards just a text-based game oriented list site anywhere in his OP, nor the FAQ. You could, I guess, if your FPS was web based, put your game on there...
  7. You would be surrendering your license to use them legally, though. (I'm not a lawyer, but :)))
  8. Shameful product placement is shameful, [MENTION=70408]WildHosting[/MENTION]. @LeadingWebGames - There are few UX issue you could sort out. I added http://google.com as my site - which you could filter out, by sending a request to the inputted site and scan the meta tags (description and maybe title) for game related key words. Also, the second site in the list (Team Breakout) resolves to an empty document root. I would validate that there is actual game content at the site before sending the user there. The user interface is pretty nice and simplistic, however, i'd try and spice it up a little. (I'm not a front-end designer, so i could be wrong, but...) You may also want to fix up the few issues with your markup, too! It would also be pretty cool to be able to sort the listings to my desires; Clicks out/in Votes Newly registered Voting statistics in the last month ...   > We are new! This means you have a good chance of having your site rank highly and so gain a good number of site visits. I feel your first (and most repeated) point is mostly redundant and made me think twice about putting my game (?) on your website, mainly because it will (mostly) just benefit you. Your wording is clever, but ultimately, having your site top of a new top list doesn't really mean anything. All other listings could resolve to non-game related sites, or empty document roots (like i pointed out earlier), or just be sub-par (imma-make-some-quick-cash-with-this-game game - everyone on this forum knows what they're like (they have a lifespan of ~2months)). To really, in my opinion, catch the attention of serious game owners who will drive traffic to your site (because that's really what it's about. More traffic to your site = more success for your site (nobody likes a dead site)) and create a sort of community around Leading Web Games is to offer them something in return. I realise you're not running ads on your site, so crediting sites with some free ad space for signing up is out of the question, but maybe; Build a twitter base and tweet about the game Have a blog and write a review about them ...   What i am really trying to say with the last point is two work on level with the game owners. Help drive traffic to their site (because that is the aim of a top list site). Work hand-in-hand. Game owners will drive traffic to your site, so give the game owners something in return...some recognition to audience that don't (maybe/probably) frequent top list sites, but maybe other media (twitter/blogs/etc) :)
  9. This made me lol & think of this thread. Good guys always provide a source.
  10. Pretty sure you'd need the voting site(s) to verify the vote. Unless you're magic. What voting sites can you bypass voting? Or have I misunderstood?
  11. I like it and I'm not sure why :p "Some tosser thought it would be funny to hack our website, so I hacked his arm off" - I lol'd. 8/10 ProTip: Get +2 if you supply header and footer ;)
  12. I've been a member here since roughly 2007, and i've had some good times, and met some good people :) However, I feel it's time to move on. I'm not moving away from programming, I've made the decision to move away from creating, supporting, and enhancing web games; typically text-based games. I feel this decision has come to me overdue, but i feel it's for the best. For those of you wondering where i'll be going, I'll still be around on Skype (harry.sniko), and may return to the boards to discuss things i'm interested in; but you won't see any more development for McCodes from me anymore, most likely. (Although i stopped publicly releasing things a while back) I'll be moving into iOS development, and creating applications to help peoples day, and other app ideas i've had. - For those interested in that, add me on Skype :) As i'll be moving away from these boards (or at the very least, minimising my activity) i'll be scrubbing and destroying the QA server (http://qa.makewebgames.io) - If you'd like to manage it, please contact me on Skype :) - I'll take a backup, and destroy it tonight. I'll be sprinting the projects i have already committed to, and push those out, but no more games, or modifications for me. A short goodbye
  13. Ah, "slander" the product, and then offer something for $ to improve said product. You're a businessman.
  14. These fields are named the same in edit_form.php;   <fieldset> <legend><b>Name</b></legend> First Name:<input type="text" name="first_name" size="20" value="<?php echo "$row_people[first_name]"; ?>"> Last Name:<input type="text" name="last_name" size="40" value="<?php echo "$row_people[last_name]"; ?>"> </fieldset>   <fieldset> <legend><b>Emergency Contact</b></legend> Emergency Contact Name:<input type="text" name="first_name" size="20" value="<?php echo "$row_people[first_name]"; ?>"> Emergency Contact Number:<input type="text" name="last_name" size="40" value="<?php echo "$row_people[last_name]"; ?>"> </fieldset>   Try rename either groups field names.
  15. Been chatting on Skype. POST data seems to be interrupted, and even that is sending through the default values, even if you change the form values. So only updating those two fields isn't the initial problem.

Looks decent! Worth the $40 ;)
  17. You're having a derp moment. In view, you can go to edit_form.php echo "<td><a href=\"edit_form.php?id=$row[id]\"><center>Edit</center></a></td>";   In edit_form.php, it fetches the user stuff $emp_id= ($_GET["id"]); $id = 0; $firstName = ''; $lastName = ''; $sql = "SELECT * FROM people WHERE id='$emp_id' LIMIT 1"; $result = mysql_query($sql); $row_people = mysql_fetch_array($result);   In edit_form.php, it posts the new data to update.php (OP has confirmed that update2.php was just him testing, and it actually points to his correct update file) <form method="post" action="update2.php">
  18. A few things I noticed when scimming over your code;   No need to encase variables with quotes Indenting code could help you a lot No constants set for database connections If you want to change from user root, or change the password, or even the database name (changing from root and setting a password is all advised when going into production environment), you'd have to go through quite a lot of files, assuming your current logic is adopted throughout your entire application - hard-coded values throughout. [*]Mixing of HTML and PHP Perhaps look into MVC, and even a template engine, like twig. [*]Mixing of mysql_* and mysqli_*   The action value in edit_form.php is to update2.php, which doesn't exist in the provided code. Now, in your update.php script, can you echo $sql and then run the query manually; or even replace update.php with this; <?php $BASE_PATH = 'C:\xampp\htdocs\OGS'; include_once($BASE_PATH . "\includes\layouts\header.php"); ?> <div id="main"> <div id="subnavigation"> <?php include_once($BASE_PATH . "\mods\main_menu\index.html");?> </div> <div id="page"> <?php $host="localhost"; // Host name $username="root"; // Mysql username $password=""; // Mysql password $db_name="ogs"; // Database name $tbl_name="people"; // Table name // Connect to server and select database. mysql_connect("$host", "$username", "$password")or die("cannot connect"); mysql_select_db("$db_name")or die("cannot select DB"); $emp_id= $_POST["id"]; $first_name = $_POST['first_name']; $last_name = $_POST["last_name"]; // update data in mysql database $sql="UPDATE $tbl_name SET first_name='$first_name', last_name='$last_name' WHERE id='$emp_id' LIMIT 1"; $result=mysql_query($sql) or die(mysql_error()); //this line changed. // if successfully updated. if($result){ echo "Successful"; echo ""; } else { echo "ERROR"; } ?> </div> </div>

No it wouldn't. You've already got the code there, you just need to change it a little ;)
