  1. Okay, I understand the last paragraph, it would be an not-so-easy thing to implement. I wonder though, how much influence would police have into these cases, could they also be bribed, or perhaps overlook something for a friend per-say. Would that effect their game-play, or even their influence within the community as a whole. I imagine, no one would want or even agree with a police officer who is known to overlook things for certain families. The plot always thickens, never gets easier...Sucks.
  2. Indeed, it would be somewhat parallel to reality, in which judges have to be appointed, obviously they would have to be cops first. The question is: What power would a judge have? Would police have to operate underneath the watchful eyes of judges, would they require the judges consent to go after certain 'bosses'. And the plot thickens, would mobsters be able to put one of their own in that position, corruption in government is so cliche, but it makes for an interesting gameplay experience. So if mobsters can have one of their own as judge, would that happen before they're a judge (which means a police path isn't a strict requirement for a judge), or would they attempt to 'turn' a judge into their own, in which case what would the punishment for such if they got caught. Also would a mobster be able to change paths halfway through?
  3. Which is why I thought to myself it would be an interesting experiment. Perhaps it could be done in parts, like take turns defense goes, prosecution goes, so on and so forth. It would need a kind of fail safe, to prevent such stuff as logging off for days when you've got a 'trial'. Perhaps the likes of a if (prosecution|defense) don't answer within x days = auto lose. If the judge doesn't log on for a while, there would be an appointment of a new judge. Boy see: Interesting. :)
  4. You know what would be cool, to go along with real people as mobsters, and the police force. Having real people as the judges... Think about it, you've got an element of realism, like right out of a mob film. This way those real people (police) have to actually argue their case and build up their case (boy how that would work, would be an interesting experiment). Also another way to look at it, these judges are real people, people can be swayed one way or another to help themselves get further in the game. Human nature is selfish in that way... The problem, this adds just another in-depth process to add to your game, how would being a judge fit into the game in terms of having things in there that makes it worthwhile to take that path, when they start the game. As for your help, there is plenty of people around that are looking for projects to get involved with. P.S: Now either you've watched to many gangster flicks, or you should be a writer. Neat idea pal. #If this makes no sense, probably because it's stupid-o-clock and I'm watching Castle whilst writing it. - or putting my ideas into words failed. ;) -DJK.
  5. Could be another possible way, just depends on how quick you want it. INSERT INTO inventory ( inv_itemid, inv_userid, inv_qty ) SELECT itmid,1,1 FROM items; # 1,1 = inv_userid and inv_qty Run it in PHPMyAdmin or alternatives.
  6. http://pastie.org/private/f7w6kbzxkecelylv8vyhew May be good, but untested so don't know. Edit: Added to Pastie, as the syntax highlighter still doesn't like the code. -_-"
  7. Moved the criticisms of NWE to a separate thread. Nice work Sniko, let me ask you: Did you take a different approach to integrating it than that of 'Someone'? Also how are you liking Bootstrap?
  8. Split out of Sniko's thread, to it's own.
  9. First of all define "running". Most engines you can find on here are quite simple to set up, therefore if running means set up and working, then yeah all of them can be running in under 5 minutes. You can modify any engine to suit your needs, so "Is mccode the best engine to use for that?" is unanswerable. To go on, many people will say something along the lines of: Pick the engine that best suits your needs. Which is what you should do, take a look at a MCCodes v2.5 game, do you need all the features it provides? If not then rather than getting a copy and ripping out all that you don't need, perhaps it would be more beneficial to say: get a copy of lite and build up. As for comparisons: Maybe this will help. P.S: May have been a better option to have invested that $300+ in some learning materials, that way you'd have a better understanding and not have to waste that kind of money. I understand none of the above is really that helpful in getting you a throwaway game, however some may provide useful for when/if you do get to creating your ideal MMO.
  10. Neat interview, 'old berty' & 'old git' ;)
  11. You're looking in the wrong place, the code is fine ( in a way ). I've sent you a PM, regarding the issue for you to verify for me.
  12. The form is lowercase only the the GET is upper-case in line with what the referral URL is.
  13. Depends on how you want to do it. <?php $query = 'SELECT `username` FROM `users` WHERE ( `userid` % 2 = '.( array_key_exists ( 'odd', $_GET ) ? 1 : 0 ).' )'; echo '<a href="userlist.php" title="Even users">Even users</a>&dash;<a href="userlist.php?odd" title="Odd users">Odd Users</a>'; //Execute query & do whatever else you wish to do. May work.
  14. The reason I ask is as I've tested every v2 version I have access to and a few modern browers with no issue, so really cannot test it out. If you wish more help tell us the exact v2 version you're using, being able to recreate the issue goes a long way to fixing it. Cheers. As for the code, either the verf param isn't being passed or the value set on login.php doesn't match the one that is being retrieved when the function is called from authenticate.php. Ps: the actual verify_csrf_code function is located in global_func.php (as far as I am aware)
  15. By update I mean update to the v2 line, v3 I agree probably won't come or at least not for a few years. :) And oh boy we went off topic. :p
  16. Oh it'll come, it's just a shame it'll only come when they stop making money off of the current release.
  17. Whilst we may have had a rapport, you'll lose it quickly if you don't stop with the whole DJKanna... (It's Djkanna or DJK not a mix of the two. ;) ) Glad you're back on your feet now and things are looking up. I'm aware you don't deal with change well, however I'd also encourage you to check out NWE or EzRPG ( either original or Spud/Aventro's update ), MCCodes is slowly running out of steam, until the next update *when* that comes.
  18. Minecraft, <some> FPS, <some> Open world and other sandbox games.
  19. Thanks, indeed that was the idea behind it. :)
  20. Swirly... Pretty nice.
  21. Version 0.4 pre release is live. Please note this is a pre release version, for testing purposes. The change log for this version has been appended to the change log in the first post. Main changes: Redesign, it has a little more colour to it this time around, additional information such as file descriptions ( taken from the wiki with permission ), user variables, config variables, have been added. Note: The file descriptions aren't complete there is a lot of missing descriptions for plainly obvious files ( such as lib.php ) I'll get around to adding descriptions for these asap. - DJK. Bug ( and one I probably won't fix ): lightbox is a bit flaky on mobile devices, you may have to scroll back to the top when previewing an image (may hotfix auto-scroll ).
  22. Can you paste the significant portion of the add_houses.php (or similar) here for us please. (use PHP tags [.PHP][./PHP] without the period (.))
  23. Are you sure the error relates to the file itself?
