Are you talking about a single site or a complete "game on demand" service using mccodes as a base? You're post doesn't seem clear to me.

Anyone selling/giving away any Pathogen Games mods?
Dominion replied to Adam_S.'s topic in Neab Game Engine
The only advice I can really give you is to look on Neab's forums (http://forums.nowhere-else.org), and hope the original creators are still active in some way. -
I was thinking more along to line of an external link like the one MWG has.

I don’t think my last post was all that clear. I’ll test it tomorrow now. I’ve taken a quick look at the setup, and going by the issues stated it should be fairly easy to correct the initial install problems that DungenMaster has been asking about. - Auto verify ID 2 on install - Give the admin the ability to manually set an accounts E-mail as verified The reason I mentioned a normal user account was because it makes more sense to test from a regular account than a super admins. -

I don’t see why you would need access to the admin area if you’re unverified since in theory you would only be a member. I would suggest when you install the module it auto verifies ID 2, and you give an admin the option to manually set an account's E-mail to verify/unverified. This should solve most of the testing issues, and shouldn’t be hard to implement. To test it out simply log in through a normal user account this way you see what any new members would see. -
The E-mail was one of the things that was to be removed. Thinking about it there is probably no real way to prove they are the original user without adding something to a new database (e.g. a reactive password), but then what's the point in deleting them in the first place? I failing to see the logic of deleting an account at all.
-
It would probably be easier to change the ban module to remove the E-mail. Removing the password would effectively block them from ever using their account again anyway. If you have a way for banned users to contest their ban then normal blocked users could ask to come back one day.
-
I would suggest doing a quick server test, and seeing how it holds up with the chat bar for an hour or so. There is a reason it's off by default. It might be easier for you to set up a room on a public IRC server.
-
I wouldn't suggest a database backup option in the core system. It's easy enough to take a site backup from the server there is really no need for this. If you want a full site backup from the admin panel... Ok I could see the logic (although I still wouldn't suggest it due to there only being one admin level), but just the database when (in theory) modules shouldn't effect other tables seems a waste.

Is this part of your module (I can't seem to find it on the NWE site?) or a NWE function hidden somewhere? -
Completely deleting a user account is something not every site needs, and it's not something every (or any engine that I can think of?) has by default. So you may wish to ask yourself (and answer for anyone willing to create the module) Why would you want to delete a user account? What do you mean by delete? Remove all traces (forum posts, quest history, etc...) or just the user table?

So... you having a fun day? :p

I did say it was some way off, but using a Framework you can already cut it down by skipping writing main logic. Unless I'm mistaken don't sites like 1&1.com already allow you to create a HTML page from tools? Dreamweaver for that matter allows you to do so. It's not that big of a step to add in the very basics of a dynamic page. I doubt anything large will ever be able to be produced this way, but still useful to someone out there.

The days where you have to be able to program to set up a website have passed. Look at wordpress for example and how much you can change without ever opening a file. Now for what Serin seems to be suggesting (something that creates code from a description) it’s a long way off, however creating a gaming site without opening a file is not. Currently active there is mafiacreator.com, a MWG user “sim” is currently working on a similar system, and NWE itself has enough in the way of control that were there enough mods for your purpose you could probably set up a site without writing any PHP. Although games from such things will never be as unique it’s not impossible even today.

Tell that to sites like facebook :p Beyond that I don't think many smaller sites would have the TOS to allow them to sell information on.

I’m actually not claiming V3 will be poorly made or it will lack support. They have taken on other developers, and in my view that is a good sign. It’s not like I’m not putting my life on hold, but I will be interested in seeing what they come up with, and I doubt I’m alone. I simply feel that one piece of software won’t turn a site like this around. I feel if the site goes back to being based around one engine we will lose a number of members who just aren’t interested in using it... probably me included. As for where the responsibilities lay... it depends how you look on it. As members we could all post more content etc, but honestly they need to drive it one way or the other. It comes down to the whole “why should we” mentality.

I didn't login that often, but I think there still might be a small MCC market for the right mod. For his particular mods I have no idea. His forums modification was popular, but then it could simply be the fact it was free. His donator mod was the most popular modification (sold at $10), but that was some time ago.

I am wondering how many people on the site are currently planning a game, have one in development, currently have one running, or have no plans to create one. Any additional information would be appreciated for example anything from a time scale to release to reasons why you are not currently interested in opening a site. The engine is irrelevant, but if you want to comment below I would be interested in knowing if you’re using one.
-
Focus less on actual game features and more on how easy it will be to add such things in the future. I'm unsure of you skill level so I don't know what you have in mind as it is. Since it's a project for yourself, but not for you to use, I would suggest release candidates being posted at every stage for feedback. It'll help you learn, and hopefully gain some interest in others using the work once you're done.

Last time I logged into the site there was a lot of ignored spam. I would assume it's not. If you need support for one of his mods, and have no other way to contact him, PM him through this site.

The new content basically gave people something interesting to read, and not all the new members MD pointed to the forum were simply asking for help (you for example). This stopping is probably part of the reason the experienced members joining has somewhat vanished. Lol. I guess a lot of us have earned out of their support policy... or lack of one anyway. Stop blaming just the mccodes staff (Dabs and CB) it’s not only their fault. They were asked not to take the forum into a purely mccodes route, and didn’t. With that in mind it’s still their business and you have no right to demand they sell it. At least the first one to suggest it was considering putting an offer in. CB made clear they are not selling, therefore move away from that idea. If you don’t like a site run by Mccodes... why are you here? They have owned it for some time now, long before you signed up. On that note crimevally is a custom engine created by CrazyT for a client (could be mistaken), and outbreakcity I have never heard of before. Really? You’re still talking about making a torn clone... Sigh. Urg... didn’t Richard leave before MCC took over? Now on a general note V3 is not the answer. I for one have no interest in a site based only around mccodes (or any other software like it for that matter). I feel a board restructure could help, as do I feel more articles and discussion could help gain interest from more experienced programmers. This would take an entire site effort, and I’m not sure those who could start such things have the time (or the drive) to do so here. Although I don’t feel deleting threads is the answer we could mark those with outdated techniques, and/or lock older threads. This has been suggested before.

Are you looking to pay someone for fixing this bug? If not post the error, and the appropriate part of the file(s) so you can have community support. One on one support for free is rare at best.

Looking for a partner for my upcoming game.
Dominion replied to LearningCoder's topic in Partnerships
Doesn't really answer the experience questions. If you're looking for a programmer they will have to work closely with this Micky, and more information about him would help. If he is doing "most" of the work what exactly is your new partner expected to contribute? -

First off what is Mickey ashey offering to the project? You say coding but what exactly, and what expirance does he have within this field? What is he doing to gain that extra 5%. Second what is the timeline for this project? How long do you believe it will take to have a working demo, and even a ready website? -
Looking into what exactly? Advertising MWG to new users or just overseeing the current site?
