Since Feb 8th there has been 6 pages of requested support and if im right not one has a reply friom CB/Dabs yet .... has anyone seen CB or dabs as i havent in ages! IMHO this forum is slowly dieing what is a shame i learned alot here

I totally agree Dayo!

Through out the first 2 weeks of new management was going great! But like you said, it's slowly dying witch is tragic because MWG is a great place for Web Dev & Design, and much more! But we cannot put all the blame on CB & Dabs on the request sections, and the help section. We as a community should help these people that are wanting to make their game better. The responsibility shouldn't be put on CB & Dabs alone.

But CB & Dabs are the owners of MCC. They should surly be in control?:

True. But through the post Mdshare started, most of the community is mainly concentrated on MCC. Witch I believe myself CB & Dabs are great to run and help the forum along with us. But since it's so based on MCC and around 85% concentrate on this 1 engine(what ever you call it), their help is needed, as our's is some time.

I know of several commercial scripts where the owners do not participate on the forums but will drop in.

Hence the need for admin/moderators. Who are Jordan, DjK, Bertie, Spud etc.

Does depend on what Dabs and CB are doing with their time. If they are coding up v3, making mods and dealing with support sent through the official ticket system then all good.

I think it should be made clearer if the support cats on the board are community help only.

well as admin I don't even have an idea of what those guys are doing, so I can't help. I can just give my own opinion out but it would be better not to see an admin flame somebody 8|

Only thing I can say, it's that you are right, they are pretty much absent, they don't give away any info, and honestly their deadlines seems WAY too far. 1 year to produce V3 ? During that time I'm sure my new game will be up and running, and that's a full write of a 2D real time space MMORPG.

@OP: These forums are community forums only, in the hands of MCC. There have been several posts that official support should be requested by the MCC Support tab (http://www.mccodes.com/support.php). MWG hasn't changed in any way. Posts requesting for MCC support were made before MCC aquired MWG, and now they still are... But it wouldn't hurt for dabs/cb to answer..

@a_betrand: Well I have to disagree here, it shouldn't take that long to make a new version of something, but I don't find that they should be released one after another, a bit of waiting time in between those isn't that bad.

True, releases every 15 days would not be good. However security release should be done as soon as possible and... McCode V 2.0 seems... quiet old. I don't know honestly when it was released but it's not just a couple of days.

I speak too both, however I only talk too Cold Blooded regular & I can assure you he's working away on things to do with MCCodes, I wont reveal what but I'll assure you he is;

The support in the forums is for us as a community too answer & provide help for others, The support on the MCCodes.com site is where they'll keep check & answer - thats why there is one there.

@Time taken; They do have day jobs & they do actually have quite alot off things to do so it will take a while at whatever they create unless it's for work as that needs to do done asap.

I have had contact with CB quite a bit now and I can also assure they are working hard. They plan many releases soon so be patient. As for the forums, I guess a bit of advertisement is good but we gotta tell others about it too

I do agree MDShare played a bigger part in mwg and it's post's, however mdshare didn't need to develop MCCodes new engine/mods/site ect so in all fairness we just have too cope with each other, ColdBlooded & Dabs will probably play a bigger part when they have the time

Posted

Actually no he didn't but MDshare was always doing projects i saw quite a few of them but one public one was CEtwg which im sure he had to handle regularly. (Mdshare was one man dabs/cb are two)...

The thing that annoys me about Dabs and CB releasing Mccodes again at new prices is the fact that they still (Well to my knowledge) secured it to a decent enough state for it to be used without paying a decent coder a large amount, If your fishing out $100 for a script (Which by default you would expect to be secure..) you'd want it to be? the fact that open source projects are more secure then a paid script kinda shows their dedication towards their product and off course their clients.

If it has been fully secured by now.. I will take this all back!

Posted
Nope to my knowledge it's still very insecure.

Which is great for you ;)

But not for mccodes client.. Why don't they pay for a fee to fix the code for sale? They seem to be making enough so they could surely pay for a fee for it.. Their business "plan" seems strange to me.

Posted

They could offer 5% to the person who secures it to the max (5% of income from that script), 5 dollars per copy isn't much to loose out on (they would need to give the coder obviously some way of tracking their sales).

Anyway's lets not Flame... I'm sure they'll eventually do something.

mwg's posts have been going down ever since it changed from ce to mwg (may be because i check the site more may not i don't know) when it was sold it was sold to mccodes since its mainly based around that engine the fact dabs/cold have not been on does not massively change the site since the mods do the job anyway only thing that has changed is there is now a link on mccodes.com to this site so people assume posting here will get support but they have been wrong so far.

So if it’s not them what’s the problem?

people are not looking around the 5-10 new people (that have posted the support topics as of late) are asking dumb things that have been fixed or with very basic skills (hell even the skill to Google the error) can help them fix people are not willing to learn they assume people here will help them and people already on here are not really doing their part in that dream that one post and someone will help set up a secure ready to go site for them.

I found mccodes support's answer when using the link was very fast (less the an hour in fact may be luck?) and the 2nd time less the 24 hours (was on the same ticket)

i do not mean to single anyone out here so i can't give links however if you have noticed a lot of people are asking for mods that are already made a lot of people are asking for mods that should be paid bit are unwilling to pay for it (so they put "free" in the title then waste an hour having a go at people who just post good luck on that etc...) hell one member could not get mccodes lite to work so he posted here (all he did wrong was he did not read index.html)

this site is more then mccodes but people need to start pointing at better engine at least until mccodes get off the back sides and get it fixed.

Btw yes I did not use mccodes support until after they paid for mwg so once again could have been lucky. :whistling:

agreed, 90% of the support are from noobs but McCodes does nothing to stop them ...

example:

engine-v2.jpg

"NO PHP. MYSQL KNOLADGE REQUIRED" - im thinking some people could sue on grounds of the trade description act If you are even entertaining buying mccodes ypou NEED NEED NEED to know atleast the basics of PHP. They could possably advertise v3 like that IF it is secure.

I havent used the mccodes support nor ever will so i cant comment on that but

"MCcodes representatives and members of the community can help you with issues with your game in this unofficial support forum." - And whom are the representatives?

BTW i know sueing under the trade description act is a bit to far but it is just an example of why i think dbas and cb are only doing this to line there pockets with a few $$$ ...

Posted

it would never hold this is from there site (when buying v2)

Things you will be getting

[*]One copy of the MonoCountry v2.0 files.

[*]One MySQL database structure of the files

[*]Full instruction manual on how to install your source codes.

[*]We do NOT take responsibility if your source codes are hacked in any ways.

[*]You are responsible for whatever happens on your site.

[*]Support: A support period of 30 days is offered.

since hacks are said you can not use that at all and it will not matter if you dont have php knowledge since its easy to set up you have your own site/game ready to use as said not secure or not they did cover it

Hmm...

I cannot shed any light on it either much like Alain, I know sod all that's going on (they don't exactly keep the staff informed - exception to Jordan).

I do understand what Dayo is getting at, they aren't as active as one would hope, but thats their choice.

It doesn't really matter if their not active as the community tends to take care of itself, so there will always be a community here may not be devoted entirely to MCCodes but I would assume it will always be about some form of game engine/development.

I do agree on one point in this topic, Mdshare did atleast make an effort with the forum. But Dabs and ColdBlooded have done also so...

Other than that I cannot think of anything to say on this matter as it doesn't bother me either way.

Forum Staff; We're not official reps however while we hold a staff place We do represent mccodes on the forums;

as already stated, This isn't the official mccodes support area - We have one set-up on the mccodes.com site so we can manage all support queries in one place, people will try here first then if no one else can help them they'll come too official MCCodes support

We both are working on mccodes related stuff & more things will be released into the near future however not everything is finalized yet.

The forum has gone down hill however when we took over alot off people went off in a huff & a puff because mccodes now own makewebgames instead off mdshare, this is not our fault - we will maintain the forum and try and keep it as active as possible however we cannot always be around thats why we have staff
