  1. Fair enough. I can as well, but giving more details on the Gross vs net, how much of the revenue has been in the last 3 months and a mountain of other information wouldn't harm the site.
  2. ... as you said mysql vs mysqlI has nothing to do with this error. If you have the time I invite you to help the OP with the page. Not everyone has the time. The main reason I am posting - should I be insulted by this? I am basically reading that as one of two things either people are not challenging others enough (fair enough I guess) or the staff members/community leaders (who are who exactly?) are giving out bad information...
  3. Since it's a public site I would at least post the link. We've had people sell "their sites" in the past only to see scam threads popup a week later. More details would be nice.
  4. The age of legal adulthood depends where you live. So we all probably have different version of "kid". That aside (since it's irreverent) if someone is willing to help out without any strings what's the harm? The only way to prove yourself it to work with people. I would suggest maybe taking requests for free modifications/software to show some basic knowledge. May help a few addition people as well.
  5. I haven't found less people playing simply a more saturated market. If it's a good site, you get the right exposure, and have that june se qua you can do well.
  6. I wouldn't say flag them when the encryption changes. I don't see the point. Update it automatically, and prompt them to change the password after a set amount of days regardless of anything you change/don't change. The rest all looks good. :)
  7. It's not uncommon at all. There are a lot of commonly used passwords around. That aside why are you checking your user's passwords (or even able to)? O.o
  8. We're going to need more information. Any error messages (ensure PHP errors are on) ? What version are you using (shown in the staff panel) ?
  9. Experience covers a lot of things. Anyone with a good amount of past experience in the workplace should be able to work within a team well remaining somewhat independent in other projects. When applying for a job it all comes under the "experience" tag as opposed to "industry experience" that is a little more specific. As for the risk it's the same with any job, you minimize it by checking up on the people who look good through past references and work.   Fair enough, at least you're being honest from day one. As long as people are aware there is no profit in it.
  10. That sounds a little arrogant, but I'm sure that wasn't intentional. I was asking a genuine question that any site looking for an employee/partner should be willing to answer. When you consider this site is basically asking for volunteer work... answering may generate interest. I won't argue with you because it will be perceived as flaming. I leave it to Alan to answer the questions.
  11. So you're only offering experience with two people who have been in the gaming industry for years? Could we get examples of both of your past experiences or at least the name of the 2nd developer?
  12. Please redo your post to follow the template given for this section - http://makewebgames.io/showthread.php/39182-Rules-to-request-a-partnership Edit - didn't know kyle had moved the thread. I would still suggest following the template to allow for more information for potential partners.
  13. I am currently creating a prototype for a site based off of the new worlds engine (http://nw-engine.com/).
  14. Linked with Facebook notifications or some other way to inform offline players about an attack it could get players to check the game.
  15. Danny's post was done at a time when it seemed like every 2nd thread was about a member being scammed in some shape or form by another. We specifically reinforced that it wasn't official but simply an opinion based post based on his experience. Being outdated I wonder if a more generic thread with advice on how to look into the past experiences of a member would be more welcome? In any case back on topic - MTG is a capable programmer who has been around MWG for a long time. I would recommend him to anyone looking to have work done.
  16. I would suggest posting more details, and maybe putting a demo site up (or a link if it's already online) in order to attract more buyers. It's hard to see any reason for someone to contact you with such a small amount of information on the product.
  17. Errors on? Are the threads being inserted into the database?
  18. Is error reporting on?

    Modular Layout

Since MVC has been mentioned I suggest reading this - http://makewebgames.io/showthread.php/43178-MVC-or-not-MVC I would ask what you want to be modular, and why you are trying to learn about it? This confused me a little. Surely you should decide what you want to do then select the best approach for it. Simply wanting something to be modular is hardly a sufficient explanation to say PHP is not the way to go without any context of what the program is going to be.
  20. Basic is not always a bad thing when designing. I would say if it was a page were each link allowed a JS action to change the main content area (for example) it would be fine the way it is. Not sure what is "missing", however I'm not sure I like the banner type page title across the main content area.
  21. Beyond cb and dabs (who I never see online...) I don't know.
  22. You could do this on an older version. Seems odd they removed it. O.o
  23. Would you not want any player vs player battles or nothing at all that resembles an attack system? I would say competition in some shape or form is good. For Medieval... I am honestly not sure what would be best, however you could consider a jousting tournament system or something like it? Knights tended to compete on everything from family name, how much land they owned, skill with a sword, and who had the most productive land for their kings. Basically everything they could compare was.
  24. Player interaction is important, but an actual "attack" page? Not really. It depends on the game you're actually trying to set up. You could, for example, have a system where they learn new skills (via quests and puzzles), and add them into memory so they can create there own quests that other users can try made up of puzzles that they have previously encountered. The map could be custom made by the user. This could be done using something like NEAB so it would be possible. As always it depends on the type of game.
  25. Same idea as having a business line, and business address. Just make sure you don't completely lie... "123 fake street" for example. Honestly it's easy enough to pay for the privacy.
