Not really a good idea to use mods created by other. Take ideas by all means, but create it yourself, and avoid all problems you listed above. Btw - nice to see yet more updates. :)

Not really. 2.03 was a massive improvement, but it's not all shorted. What I would suggest is maybe waiting until march to see the new worlds engine (a_bertrand's one) or maybe trying gangster legends (unsure about bugs on this one).

GRPG website has been down for some time. You can find a download link, but I am unsure about legal status so unless you can contact the original creator I would say don't use it. As for the "best engine" best for what? Looking for a pre-built game you can just expand or more of a framework type engine.

Why is it a waste of money if you don't have help?

First off I would like to say it’s nice to see people taking a step away from premade engines, and I completely disagree that it’s beyond your capabilities. So where to start? As far as the game is concerned I agree with what has been said; start with a plan on paper (or the computer I guess) on what exactly you want. Starting with the plan to clone another game is not good in my view. You could take some key ideas from them, sure, but think about what will make your site unique. You may also want to plan the logic of the code itself e.g. directory structure, how will you add features. (take some ideas from Zap/Ezrpg if you have no idea.) a_bertrand’s articles are a good read - http://makewebgames.io/content.php/143-An-idea-is-not-all Now what else? Once you know what you’re doing, and since you don’t necessarily have massive PHP experience anyway, is it the right language for you to use? If so what about the database or how you’re planning to communicate? Do you have experience with mysqli? Thought about myisam vs innodb? One thing I would consider doing for any project is getting some way, whether it’s in an IRC chat room or just over msn, to get feedback from a few more experienced developers. Ask people’s opinions on anything, and everything. (Google something you think people will consider a silly question.) You don’t ask you don’t learn. I would also consider creating a few small even useless programs along the way in order to experiment with ways of doing things.

Working with other systems has nothing to do with it. There are more people on this forum with knowledge of current v2 bugs rather the 2.5. Why? Because 2.5 has yet to be posted around the internet (as fair as I am aware...). That's all it is. More people have worked with the structure. well it may be a much bigger jump, and probably easy due to support/documentation, it's like jumping from SMF -> VB for a forum site. You may be able to work with it, but it's going to take time to understand where every function is found... How many people on this site could create a small mod for v2 without looking at the source? You, for example, were away for what 2 years? You came back, and started offering support almost instantly.

Does it happen with other editors? Are you on windows 7?

No, but if the business was setup, and a small gold mine I would invest in it. Sometimes people buy profitable games before they learn for the gain or enjoyment of running them. The original post is offering pay, therefore it's possible that is the case.

Do ever think people come across that way because you expect it? The majority of active users have never been rude to me unless they misunderstood something I said... Back on the original post it depends on your aim. Learning for the sake of learning or is there a goal? In any case I would suggest looking at Djkanna's links, and maybe some of the youtube tutorials (betterphp/phpacademy/thenewboston), but do not use only youtube.
