  1. I’m fairly sure the forum has a delete button for your own posts/threads anyway. You can’t delete your own work from someone else’s post (e.g. a quote) so you would need to ask. There is also the issue of a scammer, should we remove a whole thread that proves someone scams members or leave it to warn others? They should probably be banned, but using the same name on other sites means it can still be a warning for others. Everyone is questioned. If your posting good content people may as well ask about it, such as “why are you doing this that way?” If you feel a single member is just randomly attacking your advice ignore it. I for one love questioning the techniques of people simply because they could learn something, or even better for me, teach me something. As for your old account I have no idea why it was deleted, but if you are who I think you are it was before most of the staff team even signed up. The thing with this, even if you post things off site, is what about people who backup whatever you post? I have PDF copies of your now removed tutorials because the threads were massive, and I wanted to read it well on my way to somewhere (it’s been a while I think that’s why I have them). Of course I would never re-post it. It’s your work, but should I delete a very useful resource? Or a more appropriate example say someone had quoted your words in another thread to prove their points (e.g. your example of isset() vs array_key_exists() ) should that be removed also? By the way me having a copy has nothing to do with being a staff member; I would have a copy even if I wasn’t staff. Once something is in the public domain once the chances are someone may back it up.
  2. Proof that it's a valid license, and maybe a list of paid mods?
  3. I have to agree with this. The developer would be looking to make money why should he/she get money off? You already have a number of people with licenses ready to develop from the beta phase. No need to do much more. On a side note congratulations on the release.
  4. It is his forum, well his and dabs. Mccodes bought MakeWebGames some time ago, and have Administer status for both of the accounts. You may view the staff team @ http://makewebgames.io/showgroups.php   There was no discussion hence why some have reacted the way they have. For some reason Cb believed we were all “fed up” with certain attitudes, however it simply was not the case. As for singling people out, feel free to do so in private to someone like Nickson. If you genuinely think there is a problem with the staff team it’s better to have it dealt with. That is not always possible, and to be honest I don’t believe I am on any site were its members vote on who to ban. Rules need to be clearer, and there is currently a new set of rules being ironed out. They should be public soon enough. In this case the problem was why it was done, not what action was taken. If we edited out, for example, an insult towards a member then there would probably be little reaction.
  5. First off if the forum was “dead” you would not be posting. Less active does not mean dead. Now as for mccodes, if you look those who have posted are customers running with active games or at the very least holding a license... It’s not so much “when they do something” it’s that the timing is always based around when a new product is coming out. Support should be continues. Your account does not appear to have any warnings. As far as I know there is no rule aganst it, and if an mccodes staff member wants to correct me they may (since they own the site...). Until then we have a section for valid complaints against people. If you went off topic (I didn’t read the original post) that’s a different story. And I would assume you could not pass the engine around. Why would everyone paying a little sum of money help?
  6. I still have no idea who "Anthony Graham" is... As asked above is there a name they use online?
  7. This has one main problem as far as I can see; backward compatibility. I understand that you’re trying to improve but your engine has a massive amount of mods ready to go as is, ensure it’s somewhat compatible with the new version if at all possible. This, as I said on the new world engine’s announcement, is not something I would go with for a number of reasons. First off the commission is somewhat counterproductive. Producing a relatively cheap mod, and then having yet more of the sale price go to someone else will discourage programmers. I know people use sites such as codecanyon, however you need to look at the size of the market compared to what you would be offering. Then having to review every mod put on the market? Would you be doing that yourselves? Frankly this thread seems to be a lot of writing with very little content, therefore I have a few questions – 1) Have you started development, and if so how is it coming along? 2) As said above what are you offering for the developers? E.g. documentation, tutorials for those with no prior programming experience etc. 3) If you’re planning to discontinue versions to what extent does that go? Will any bugs still left be simply ignored or will you continue to support any bugs found in the engine for a set amount of time after. 4) How are you going to deal with illegal distribution of the engine 5) How do you plan on marketing it, you stated it can be changed into something other than a mafia based game, nevertheless it is coming that way. Will it still be sold as an “out the box” game?
  8. Thought it was New Zealand? Correct me if I’m wrong, but to change from Jquery to another JS library would require a lot more than just changing the one file. On top of that updating to a newer version of Jquery would be as easy as uploading the new file over the older version. I don’t see how having it as a setting is helpful to site owner. I also support the patches, but if no one questioned their way of implementing things nothing would change. It’s normally such posts that point out the things that need fixing in the patch. It's probably better to update the version yourself in case anything within the site needs changing due to the libraries latest updates. I don't use Jquery much, but is it really unheard of for a new version of it to cause problems for those on older versions? The problem with this logic it quite simple; we want to be a useful resource to everyone. Freedom of speech is all well, and good, but people will always get sick of reading the same things over, and over again. If you wish to criticize something at least be constructive. If all the users picked to head over to another engine or even simply learn more PHP rather than be mccodes specific (as many seem to be) it would never be discouraged, however the majority of users post about mccodes because they have some kind of link to it. A forum is always what the community makes it, but the hope is always that those members make it something others can use as a resource. In this kind of thread that would mean constructive criticism for mccodes, and those who are currently running it for their site. What’s the point of a forum if people get nothing out of posting/reading threads?
  9. I agree with Rulerofzu.   Please post some kind of evidence... any of you.
  10. If you're going to go Mccodes, don't go redux. People seem to be finding it difficult to use, and there seems to be more community support for the V2 version engine. As for other options, I would also say wait for the above, but in the mean time try out some of the others openly available such as gangster legends, and ezrpg.
  11. This? http://makewebgames.io/showthread.php/36573-Advanced-Attack-and-Inventory-Mod-One-Click
  12. Where did you download it form? Try - http://glscript.net/
  13. Dominion

    Give out

    What he said.
  14. So... give examples as I have just asked. Not sure why a page opening in a new tab/window would change the css...
  15. I'm sorry, but I have no idea what you're talking about. Maybe a screen shot, and some example code for us to work with?
  16. Just so the thread is not completely one sided, I have brought a few mods from Cronus in the past. I have only ever used two on an active site, both work without any problems, and were incredibly easy to set-up. Never had an issue.
  17. If it makes you feel better those of us in the city are getting much faster... :p
  18. Learning the basics of a number of languages at once is harmless. For example python you could watch a youtube playlist, and by the end of it have a basic understanding of the language, however by “basic” I do mean that. You probably won’t be able to do any large scale projects. Mastering three languages at once would be incredibly difficult if not impossible. I would suggest learning the basics of all threes, or even just following a basic project tutorial to get a good feel for the language, but then concentrating on one. In your case C++ would be the obvious choice since you’re taking a course in it. Maybe have something a little less complicated you learning yourself at home, but you need some time to relax away from the computer... As for the original question, is it bad practice, it’s not uncommon to learn more than one language at once, however it’s normally got clear reasoning behind it (for example SQL and PHP). So simply ask yourself why you want to learn them, and if they would be useful to you. Don’t simply learn, even the basics of them, because they catch your eye.
  19. Temp? As in template?
  20. To be honest I think it's more due to how complex NEAB is next to mccodes. V2 could easily be used by someone with only a little PHP experience where as NEAB would probably confuse the average mccodes game owner (the majority of game owners on mwg?). What I will say is anyone considering entering the competition go to their website, and download the free version of NEAB. If you can't make heads or tails of it make sure you have some kind of support in place just in case you win. Don't want it to go to waste.
  21. Both site seem to be "Currently bug fixing!" ? The only thing I can see is a free template... Mind opening the site?
  22. Watch this I guess. If you know it's an sql injection I assume you know the effected file?
  23. Detail... What version? List anything you have done to find/prevent the problems. I'm going to assume you're 100% sure it's an sql injection?
  24. We don't allow posts containing just MSN's anymore. ( http://makewebgames.io/showthread.php/40846-Recent-MSN-posts ). If you wish to ask about something specific you're having trouble with then ask, however a thread with a list of E-mail's is not going to happen. If for no other reason then to avoid those willing to help being spammed due to them leaving their address on a forum.
  25. I was hoping for something more recent to show the difference what you could do, and what you can do now. I'm not doubting you, but most of your mods are old.
