I'm not really it's just you're not giving an awful lot of information. Example - Say I want zaypay to work with my android app, could you integrate it? If I wanted my paypal IPN in in C# could you do that for me?
-
Any examples of a site you've done this for?
-
Could we see a live example/sample of the code? What license would someone buying be under? What are the actual game features? Why would I go with this over a free engine? ... Something even close to a sales pitch if you're selling a product. The price of £5 doesn't fill me with confidence, why is it so low? why are you selling?

I can't say if the MSN is/isn't actually Ben because I have no idea. My guess would be no if he can't find the time to send a single message in game. You could always PM/E-mail Ben via this site, and inform him someone could be using his site for a potential scam. http://makewebgames.io/showthread.php/42847-Constructive-Criticism-needed?highlight=endoftimez.

Fair enough. I would have added another bit of reputation, but apparently I still need to give it out to others first. :p

If you take anything from v2's database or the actual code from one file doesn't that negate the point of using the free one in the first place?

Thank you.

WSIRC back online... at least a partial port
Dominion replied to a_bertrand's topic in News and Announcements
Anyone else having problems using Wsirc? Firefox, windows 7 (in case it matters...) -
"You must spread some Reputation around before giving it to Magictallguy again" I like seeing posts like this. Not sure what else to say so... thanks for helping out a member. :)

Loan System for Bank (ideas bounced around too)
Dominion replied to Script47's topic in Requests & In Production
I would suggest having to put up some kind of collateral as well. Maybe an expensive item (assuming you set the sell value at less) that they don't want to part with. The problem I've found with loan shark systems is it's hard to prevent people exploiting it through multiple accounts, as has been said, or simply spending the money and have no way to pay back the system. -
This is not the web address he sent to me via PM.

I 2nd this (assuming he means threads) as it will make it easier for other to find in the future.

How many people would be interested in threads specifically written to be controversial, for example (some time ago now) I wrote a large post on another site (yay for the site dying...) explaining my views on learning OOP in php before you can actually do the basics and how it is why many people struggle. There was another about optimization, and how, at the end of the day, a lot of the arguments about what is best becomes both confusing for new programming and irrelevant for most as it's unnoticeable. They started some heated, but interesting discussions if you ignored the people who outright insulted those who disagreed with them.

Honestly I'm just going to suggest you look. I'm sure you can pick something out of the mess. I would also ask if you're only willing to do Mccodes mods? NWE has had several mod requests over the last few days, and would give you something new to try out. http://makewebgames.io/forumdisplay.php/398-Free-Modules-%28Requests-or-Offers%29

There are threads with this general idea - http://makewebgames.io/showthread.php/40060-quot-The-n00b-Challenge-quot?highlight=contest http://makewebgames.io/showthread.php/40061-Would-you-compete-in-a-MWG-Mini-Game-Contest?highlight=contest http://makewebgames.io/showthread.php/42159-Let-s-have-some-fun?highlight=contest And actually some people did take part. If it was the right contest I would probably take part, however the overall entries next to how many people say "yes" is rather low. If you have idea's about how to run this, what contest there is going to be (etc) I'm sure it could work. The goal is to improve content so more people get involved in worth while threads and discussions. Post count just happens to go with that. A how-to guide per engine should be the responsibility of those who sell it. Doing one for open source engines (ezrpg for example) may draw people to it, and get more threads with mods and improve that section of the site. So thinking about this suggestion I take back what I said. It's actually not a bad idea, however I would promote either open source projects or those who have active support staff who participate on the forum. It would be more confusing if done badly. I was simply saying we would need to agree on a new structure for the site to avoid problems.

Depends how much time you have. The "mccodes free" admin panel (now called New_staff.php) needs to be removed and completely reworked. I should worn you it may simply give you something to do rather then stop you being bored.

We have a competition board, but people didn't seem all that interested. This could be an idea, but I'm not sure it would bring forum posts up. A few people have suggested this, however it's a lot work, and it could have the opposite effect and make it more confusing. Maybe other people could suggest how they would like things laid out?
-
What did they actually do, you mention rebuilding the database so did they drop it? What kind of site is it, and is it based of preexisting software? If so there could be a flaw in it others have found before.
-
Since I've never actually run such a service using Mccodes the numbers where pulled out the air, however it was to put across my opinion; I don't see that many people wanting to seriously run a game using an engine you can readily buy without access to the source code. You would have a much better service if it used something unique, and offers something clients could not gain elsewhere as a already built system. I would say if your offering such a service it would make more sense to offer yourself as a manger for the "server side" parts rather then renting the entire game out. This means you set up the same kind of service you're talking about, do the same tasks, however you don't own the site they do. Well you could offer both services I see it as a much more marketable idea since the client still owns the actual game, and as such has control over the majority of the site. If they want to move servers at any time they could do so.
-
The problem is when people open up a site because one is dying they tend to base that new site on the former, and so they inherit the same problems. If you’re going to open a forum site up just keep in mind you need to appeal to members from elsewhere not just MWG.

I would honestly still not delete the data. There are other ways. If you really want it out of the database then dump it to somewhere it can later be retrieved. As for the speed issue have you actually tested the problems with dormant users? maybe the performance could be improved in other ways. So you're actually talking about an auto delete from the User table after X amount of days rather then a delete function the admin/user can use on a per- account basis?
-
Because it's still a running mccodes game I would assume you would need a license per site (Would be helpful if CB or dabs actually responded...) , and because of the sites being completely under your control still you would need something in place to protect the client (make sure you don't take the game back if it actually starts earning) and of course yourself from any problems in the future. Seems like a lot of work for this kind of service. In my opinion, if your lucky, 1/100 people that contact you for this service will be series about it and will stay past the first month.

Do you have any examples of your work or references from people you've worked for?
