Excuse me, but why the duck would one need offshore hosting?Oh, and for the sake of accuracy; your server might be hosted somewhere else, but you're connecting from a DMCA-compliant country/ISP.This means by engaging in such activities you're seen as malicious on your ISP's network. This is a violation of the T&Cs your parents signed when they got the line, and you could be suspended(and perhaps banned) due to this.

Filter my content. P.S. A definite date would be nice.

The logic behind authentication is to be secure as possible, not to be convenient. And I never shoved it in anyone's face and said "use it", I just mentioned another way.
-
So, by the same logic, key-based SSH authentication is bad and plaintext passwords are good?

Most recent clone is the old-old facebook layout.

It's the same approach as using an image, as I've mentioned. A better way would be to use websockets combined with a file api to use public-key cryptography. That part will be easy, the hard part is encrypting the actual data stream. P.S. This is a similar technique that the SSH protocol uses.

While entertaining, I fully disagree with that article. Security question are meant to act as the combination to a lock, just like any key. Putting this article into context: it's like a smooth key. What I usually do for password recovery if there is no definite relation to the user, like a social security number which they can email a copy of, is a combination of sensitive information from a random ground of users. Financial statistics companies and government organization do it here locally. Things could be like, in what year/month did you sign up? Giving about five other users' details along with their own in random order. Another one is to ask for last logon ISP, again following the same strategy. There are a lot that can be used, but it's quite application specific. One technique I have tried, is using images, and comprising a password out of that. It does work well to a certain extent, as it's an image to upload for authentication rather than text. The problem with that is that images aren't the most secure form of authorization, unless you embed a signature that relates to a specific request in time. A strategy for authentication I do want to do some trail tests(someday) on is prediction. It absurd, yes, but hear me out. With something like Google's Prediction API, you can train it to store a subnet of IP addresses, request identifiers such as the browser(when it is updated, changed, etc.) and most importantly login times. The password can theoretically be simplified to just a username and something else related to that account. A possible problem with this is training the API, about 200+ valid logins with a password would be required for each user, and even then it's just marginally correct. But if you have logs, I'm pretty sure you can mine the data accurately enough to make a well-guessed prediction on whether the user request authentication is really the owner of the account. Human behavior is quite indifferent individually, and it has been studied to extreme extents. Combining that research as well into something like this, could prove to be quite a solid approach.

Let's have a competition: See who can find the most security holes or bugs in MCCodes V1.1 within five minutes. Now, because this is a participation event, everyone gets at least 10USD for every bug they find. The winner, i.e. the person who finds the most holes, gets 500USD. Oh, and you're footing the bill, because you've given the community such a "secured engine". On board? No? Thought so. The main point here is that if you are going to release a product, you have to support it, otherwise explicitly state so to the people /before/ they buy the polished turd that is MCCodes V*. The best thing you guys have ever released into the OS market is Lite, and even that code still haunts me to this day. And then for you guys owning this forum; Yes, such a convenience. When the site goes down due to a minor SQL flood, the forum is down for two days. What sysmin on earth would find this acceptable? If you give so much back to this community already, why don't you try and keep the community's forum up for more than a month at a time.

If I remember correctly, Minecraft uses OpenGL. There's WebGL, though only for Chrome and Firefox, it could work just as good. With a node.js instance running for the server, and HTML5 websockets & fileapi, it's not that unrealistic.

You will be missed. :(

I have a suggestion though. MCCodes doesn't want to this forum be for their "official support", so why don't we drop all support related queries on this forum. General discussions, modification(free and paid, support of said) and all other things related to "having" an MCCodes game can still be discussed here, much like any other engine here. What we shouldn't support is any query related to "running/operating/fixing" an MCCodes game, as that in my eyes, should go to "official support". This should apply to any modifications they list on their website, as IOW, they "support" it. If MCCodes wants to give this forum the finger, we can give their precious clients the finger too when it comes to support.

Until the ability to perform anti-aliasing(CSS) on fonts become a wider reality, I'd stick to images.

MD, your back/here! Yea, I remembered the day FB said SSL would be mandatory for all canvas apps. Anyway, looking forward to some Minecraft on FB, Djkanna.

ColdBlooded, Your two posts contradicts each other. In the first, you say that MWG and MCCODES.COM is two different entities. Search engines are also third-parties, and allow you to remove any content from therein; you aren't, and that's why I'm starting to have a problem with you. How can you say that MCCODES.COM isn't a third-party when you say that, and are pulling content from MWG straight into MCCODES.COM? Maybe I should follow a similar approach as you here... Seeing as you so happily told everyone that MWG and MCCODES.COM isn't liked in any way, I can stand by my grounds when saying that you a breaching this website's T&Cs, and my individual copyright. But, before I send a formal complaint to your hosting provider(Glowhost), I request of you to again, remove any references of my copyrighted content on MWG, from MCCODES.COM. @a_bertrand: This is slandering my good name, that's why I'm having a fit. It's pretty much the same as saying, "Google made this modification for MCCodes.com", the legal results will be the same. At the end of the day, it isn't such a major case. But morally, this is theft.

RapidSwitch has a sister company which deals with VPSes. But: Last time I tried getting a VPS from them they said they only do custom specs. If you have the knowledge, you can also use Amazon Web Services E3, which is on a free-usage tier.

I have recently discovered that some of my works are being referenced as being part of your website. My works were intended for the audience that is MWG, not MCCODES.COM. I have neither given permission, nor released - some of - my works under a copyright license that would make this form of referencing acceptable. Links: http://mccodes.com/mwg_freemods.php?page=1 http://mccodes.com/mwg_freemods.php?page=3 [ ... more, which I can't be bothered to look for, yet ... ] I personally request that all references to my copyrighted work is removed from MCCODES.COM within an appropriate time period(48 hours). On another note, affiliates of MCCodes keeps on claiming that this forum(MWG) is not the official grounds of MCCodes. I find it highly unethical for you guys to take - in essence, our - content and displaying it on MCCODES.COM. When I first signed up, I still remembering the T&C's, which firmly stated that no information will be given to third-parties. This, now includes MCCODES.COM.

Well done on reaching the "Possimpable". Good luck on the job.

Either the motherboard isn't getting enough power, or the VGA chip is kaput. I'd try switching the PSU, as it's the number one most troublesome part. Try checking all the cables to the motherboard as well, there should be two or three for your atx board.

Manworm, I noticed that you have signed up to a dedicated freelancer network. I highly suggest you keep to that route as I do not think this forum will yield the results you expect. You also claimed your departure from here, and so I want to wish you well in your search. We all appreciate your views, but personally, I don't see you fitting in here anytime soon.

Too bad I'm the one who pisses off people around here. Mostly, I piss people off who are ignorant; like you. Now we can stand around and throw our opinions around in the air, but that always seems quite childish to me. The fact is that most of us here have been in this industry for the better part of a decade, and some even more. I personally thought I would give you advise for your pursuit of a game developer, as I have some amount of experience with this. If you don't want our help, then you are in the wrong place buddy: this is a community for created on the very principle of sharing ideas and helping others. P.S.: Ek het nie gesien dat jy enigsins beter doen met Engels nie.

Hours to complete(with graphics outsources): Back-end and Framework: 200h User-interface and Front-end: 300h Implementation & Integrations: 50h At my a normal rate: 60 USD / hour Total estimate: 33,000.00 USD Time taken: Two months, three weeks(add in a week for testing and communications). Note: this is not a bid, it's a reference. Please do not accept any offers below this amount. Also, this project would most likely be taken on by a group of two to five developers.

Well, since the wild-card is in the wrong place, I'll take your acclaimed experience with a pinch of salt. Unless that is, "all uni[sexual] versions", which I don't know anything about, sorry, I tend to stick with my conservative views. I don't think you truly understand version control, but everyone has their opinions. The whole point of VCS is to have a distributed work-flow, which really stands opposed to your statement: "I wouldnt want them to lose their stuff from lets say a hard drive fail." Would you care to explain this statement?
