This very site has been my side project for the last week or so, trying to get everything migrated and ready to go to put it online. Apart from what my only other project has been work related in the form of the new Magento Page Builder, excited to be releasing this in the coming weeks.

Anyone else using TypeScript? I've been using it extensively recently whilst writing a Page Builder feature for Magento. It's honestly saved me hours in large refactors and finding simple bugs you'd normally miss when writing plain old JavaScript. https://www.typescriptlang.org/index.html

The introductions topic was filled with spam, so I thought we'd start again. I may as well get the ball rolling. My name is Dave Macaulay, I've been active in the McCodes / MWG community for a very long time, signing up originally when I was 13 to Criminal Existence which was ran by mdshare. During the lifetime of that community I went from a rude kid to helping Kunal & McCodes run the forum. Ultimately running it entirely by myself before it went offline a couple years back. I'm currently located in Barcelona, Spain working for Magento, an Adobe company. If you're unfamiliar with Magento it's a PHP e-commerce platform, it's pretty complex but in that complexity it has great extensibility. I've been working on the Magento platform for 6 years now and 2 years actually working at Magento. We got acquired by Adobe recently so we've all moved over to work for them now. Free Photoshop is great! At Magento I'm the engineering lead for our upcoming Page Builder product, I've been solely working on this project since before I joined Magento so I'm very excited to see it becoming live in the next few months. In my free time I love playing video games, mainly on my gaming PC. It looks like I'll also be keeping this forum afloat from now on!

I'm glad! Let's hope we can get the community going again.

There's actually a great form by WeProvide that enables Valet to host other software locally. My team at Magento uses this to do all our local development, it can be easily adapted to support other applications as well, similar to the core Valet, just with more bells and whistles. https://github.com/weprovide/valet-plus

It's been a very very long time since MWG was online, however I'm excited to announce we're back. For good! The demise of MWG was originally down to an attack on the McCodes server MWG was hosted on. There was then sadly no drive to get it back online, until recently. I'm sure there are a few questions that I hope to address in this post. Ownership I, Dave Macaulay, own the majority of MakeWebGames (including source code, database, domain etc) whilst McCodes (Kunal and Dabomstew) retain a small portion owned by the McCodes company itself. This allows me to have full control over the forums, direction and leadership. New Domain: makewebgames.io We've moved from the original makewebgames.com domain over to our new makewebgames.io domain. This is partly due to someone forgetting to renew the domain before it expired, thanks Kunal! New Software We've ditched the horrendous vBulletin 5 and migrated to IPS (or IPB depending on how old you are). I hope this shows my commitment to reviving the forum as those licences aren't cheap. We've ensured to migrate all existing member accounts and content from the legacy instance over, so all the great content you posted when you were younger is retained for you to laugh at. McCodes & MWG As with the above you have probably assumed that we will retain some ties with McCodes, it was the most popular game engine on this forum and it's the topic with the most posts. Staff If activity on the forum picks up I will be looking to recruit staff members to help run and manage the forum on a day to day basis. Spam When MWG was last live there was a huge spam problem, we were being barraged by spam on a day to day basis and it was a real challenge for the moderation team to keep under control. Luckily the new forum software should enable us to stay spam free for the foreseeable future. If you have any further questions please respond to this post and I'll be glad to answer them! Welcome back.

That's actually really cool, I think the UI is a little confusing and I got lost a couple of times trying to build things. Super excited to see this progress.
-
You're right, it went missing with some of the user group changes I made behind the scenes. This should have returned in all it's former glory, alongside the never seen before "Today's Posts" link.
-
Looks great, excited to see the download for this.
-
Huh, well that's strange! I'll certainly have a look to see if I can find where this ran off to. Edit: I've restored both "New Topics" & "Today's Posts" to all users. Hopefully this will make it easier to see the new content that's being posted daily.

I was a logged out user at this point, I tend to use the "New Topics" view which does a similar job.

Ram: 64GB DDR4/3200mhz is a bit extreme! What are you doing on that machine?
-
This has now been fixed, let me know if you run into anymore problems with it.
-
Ah nice, I always worried they'd be a pain to connect up and install. May have to purchase one to keep my CPU in check. What games do you play on this beast?
-
Be great if you could share your budget with us.
-
That's a pretty neat setup! I ditched my 3 screen setup years ago as it kinda lost it's appeal. How'd you find using closed loop water coolers? I've been debating on whether to get one for a while but not sure how complex they are to install etc. My case certainly has enough room and is advertised to support most water cooling solutions.
-
I'll have a look into getting that resolved shortly.
-
It'd be really beneficial if you could share some more information about the work you're wanting completed.
-
Yup, sorry thanks for helping to fix those issues. Ah well at least now you have the option for both. We can hope, I'm optimistic but bots are way too clever these days.
