Djkanna Posted March 14, 2010 Posted March 14, 2010 Full game security can cost as much as the script itself and maybe more, Requested Mods: Well that vary's on the mod usually mods are between $5 and $150 Design: Depends if it's custom, if you purchase a license or buy it out. Usually $500+, licenses cost $60+ depending on who you go to I suppose. Quote
Danny696 Posted March 14, 2010 Posted March 14, 2010 I would say, template -> $100 (min) Security -> $75 (min) mods -> $5(min) each Quote
Renkia Posted March 14, 2010 Author Posted March 14, 2010 Hmm, well if anyone have examples of the Templates that would be great. Quote
a_bertrand Posted March 14, 2010 Posted March 14, 2010 You didn't talked about advert... which is one of the area which will cost you most, beside development if you don't do it by yourself Quote
Renkia Posted March 14, 2010 Author Posted March 14, 2010 Adverts are sorted. Sorry forgot to say. :P Hoping to spend around £200 On advertisments. Plus a Video for youtube witch willing to pay £120 MAX. Quote
rulerofzu Posted March 14, 2010 Posted March 14, 2010 £200 on ads on a good ad network will get you about 4-5 days of adverts max. Quote
a_bertrand Posted March 14, 2010 Posted March 14, 2010 200$ for 4 days? Well yes if you put a daily limit. But 200$ or even more can be burned within the first day. Also youtube video are not going to advertise much your game. If you want really some effect you need to think at least 2000$ of advert if not more. Of course you can start by spending a lot less, but then don't expect much. The actual registration cost is between 40 cents up to 6$ a registration (depends on which network you use). So... think that your 200$ will generate in the best case 500 registrations, and I doubt you will keep more than 30% of those, so think about 150 actual players. Quote
rulerofzu Posted March 14, 2010 Posted March 14, 2010 Well yeah I was being generous. :D Starting out on ads you would be silly not to set a limit so you can judge your best click/registrations. 30% is optimistic. Id say a lot lot less than that for a text based game. Quote
iSOS Posted March 14, 2010 Posted March 14, 2010 A good way of getting some free advertising is put your game into BETA, make fan pages, just advertise to the community, google and the other search engines will see the incoming links and that will help, you'll in essence be getting some 'hype' up about your game. (Obviously it has to be good). Oh and 'CrimGame' has done a good job on the above ^.^ Quote

Renkia Posted March 14, 2010 Author Posted March 14, 2010 Hmmm, Advertisments are gonna be a big problem then. I Doubt i will spend $2000 On advertisments. But surly i could work somthings out. Quote

a_bertrand Posted March 15, 2010 Posted March 15, 2010 Indeed you don't need to spend anything on advert at the beginning. I started myself without any budget (even for the hosting). And still, I was able to start and attract people. However if you are serious about advert, don't think about a budget like 200$ that's simply a mistake. Either you don't do it, and try alternative roads (like I explained on one article), or you decide to invest money and then we are talking about good numbers. Quote
a_bertrand Posted March 15, 2010 Posted March 15, 2010 Certainly not a "free" business... If you are serious, that's it. However, as said, you can start with very small budgets, and just slowly re-invest the possible gains. Quote
Haunted Dawg Posted March 15, 2010 Posted March 15, 2010 Spending $2,000.00 on advertising in the first week is just insane. I mean, seriously? Let's look at it from a different view. If your the only tester on your game, and opening it thinking there isnt any bug's and spending 2grand on advertising, to find people coming to your site and leaving due to bug's you never found. Waste of cash. When i open up DeadlyKillah, what i will be doing is leaving it open for 2 month's fix all bug's and all, at this time, donation's will be closed, when 2 month's are up, im resetting and then opening donation's aswell. Also, why waiste $2,000.00 when you can get easily 15k members in a month with less than $300? And about 9k of those 15k member's are active. You get about 2k daily active and around 200 online at any given time? So, maybe just view outside the box before you invest into advertising. Many game owner's think that going to ad site's work, but in the long run, there will alway's be a better game than your's on that ad's site, so who will the member's go to? The better site. Quote
