Dayo Posted November 9, 2012 Posted November 9, 2012 I'm looking for a VPS in the uk I have a budget of about £20 p/m or £250 p/y just looking for any recommendations on who to go for/avoid. Thanks. P.s. it's only for small sites with little trafic so don't need the best server out there lol Quote
a_bertrand Posted November 9, 2012 Posted November 9, 2012 Why in the UK and not somewhere else? Quote
Raven1992 Posted November 9, 2012 Posted November 9, 2012 i thought it was cheaper in the US then UK http://lmgtfy.com/?q=Cheap+VPS Quote
Dayo Posted November 9, 2012 Author Posted November 9, 2012 (edited) Just a preference if its a lot cheaper I would consider it And really lmgtfy ... You can also research on the company in question quite easily on wht. Quote
a_bertrand Posted November 9, 2012 Posted November 9, 2012 I use both companies here: https://www.leaseweb.com/en http://www.tektonic.net/virtual-servers.html Quote
skooda Posted November 9, 2012 Posted November 9, 2012 I suggest cloud3k.com I been with them for 3months. Great service and the staff reply within 2hour max. Well depending on the time. Quote

Maybe not so good for UK use though Skooda as they are based in Chicago 20 hops. Not bad though depends on the intended use. Quote
Spudinski Posted November 9, 2012 Posted November 9, 2012 RapidSwitch has a sister company which deals with VPSes. But: Last time I tried getting a VPS from them they said they only do custom specs. If you have the knowledge, you can also use Amazon Web Services E3, which is on a free-usage tier. Quote
Dayo Posted November 14, 2012 Author Posted November 14, 2012 In the end I went with 1&1 gona be transferring over all my domains/files/DBs in the next week or so Quote
Dave Posted November 16, 2012 Posted November 16, 2012 EUKHost are solid and when I used them a while ago there support was second to none! You'll pay for it though. http://www.eukhost.com/vps-hosting.php In the end I went with 1&1 gona be transferring over all my domains/files/DBs in the next week or so Very bad decision, they have awful support who couldn't understand me on the phone. Considering I have a clear southern british accent I was incredibly confused. Also, if your payment method has expired or generally fails instead of simply cancelling your account they will chase you with debt collection agencies and threaten you with extra charges. Not something I like to see in a company if I'm brutally honest. Quote
