seduction city Posted July 9, 2010 Posted July 9, 2010 I am currently having an issue with Paypal and looking for alternatives. Our game is adult, but it is not XXX like some others. Are there any suggestions on another payment provider and anyone want to give me a cost to code for the provider? Quote
seduction city Posted July 10, 2010 Author Posted July 10, 2010 gooogle cart mabeyI have a message to Google to see if they are moron's like Paypal. Paypal doesnt understand it is a game, and the idiot there keeps sending me the same message, not answering my questions. Quote
Cronus Posted July 10, 2010 Posted July 10, 2010 If you use anything other than paypal expect little to no donations. Paypal alternatives are possible, but most people don't want to sign up to a new payment site just to donate to a text rpg. Google Checkout would work, however I had a few issues with them in the past.... Quote
seduction city Posted July 10, 2010 Author Posted July 10, 2010 Paypal has limited my account, and I am assuming that it is only a matter of time before they limit my partners account. I am continuing to appeal but they have sent the exact same message to me the last 4 times. So less donations is better than no donations. Quote
Dayo Posted July 10, 2010 Posted July 10, 2010 http://www.123ticket.com/public/index_d.php i did have a ref link but dw, this is a good way to get donations but they take about 50-66% of the cut (network charges) but you apear to a wider audiance as 99% of ppl have phones Quote
rulerofzu Posted July 10, 2010 Posted July 10, 2010 2checkout.com As long as you meet their guidelines then you will be fine. They will check over your site and advise you. 2checkout will also accept paypal payments as part of their service. Quote
seduction city Posted July 13, 2010 Author Posted July 13, 2010 I have contacted 2checkout, they would not allow donations. But, i was very impressed with their customer service. It was top notch and fully explained why (they didn't send me some form letter like Paypal has) I am getting form letter responses from Google and concerned they wont pay any attention to me until i have some transactions. And of course then they will just send the same form letter type response. I have started setting up an account with Alertpay. We found them via a CNNmoney article (it was dated but at least I am comfortable they are not a scam) I hope to get that account functioning and then we can use that as another payment option. Is anyone interested in coding payment handling for Google, Alertpay or both. If you are can you send me a message with pricing so we can talk. Thanks! Quote
seduction city Posted August 6, 2010 Author Posted August 6, 2010 who wants to code for Alertpay? After weeks of working with different processors we are going to add Alertpay as a secondary processor. I don't have time (and maybe not the skill) needed to get this up and running. I would also be interested in adding Google Checkout so it could be a bigger job. Please contact me if you are interested in this job. I have also posted in the marketplace, Admin, if this post is not allowed please delete. I wanted to try to close the loop on this thread. Quote
Danny696 Posted August 6, 2010 Posted August 6, 2010 PM ME about the alert pay, im currently doing a job, but shouldnt take too much longer. Quote
Dave Posted August 6, 2010 Posted August 6, 2010 PM ME about the alert pay, im currently doing a job, but shouldnt take too much longer. AlertPay is very easy to integrate if I remember correctly. Just read their documentation :) Quote
ColdBlooded Posted August 7, 2010 Posted August 7, 2010 MoneyBookers they seem popular, I haven't tested it myself but i've heard about it from a few friends Quote
seduction city Posted August 9, 2010 Author Posted August 9, 2010 Thanks for the suggestion. Because our site is "Adult only" we have issues with most companies classifying us as either selling porn or selling prostitution. Either way they dont want to spend any time or energy investigating to discover that it is a game. Moneybookers excludes any adult material so they would likely deny our transactions like Paypal did on one account. Danny is working on the the integration. I did look at the documentation and it does not seem complicated but for the cost it is worth having someone else do it (more money than time these days) Quote
Lilith Posted August 11, 2010 Posted August 11, 2010 To get around the "adult only" thing with my game (I hate dealing with immaturity and censoring is the only real reason i did this) I have set my rules to state that you must be 17 to hold an account "due to the graphic descriptions of battles and swearing in the game". I am considering adding to the account registration some type of age verification to help weed out the kids stupid enough not to lie and at least act mature. I then have not had issues with pay pal and the adult only thing. I don't really know the nature of your game, but 17+ instead of 18+ helps avoids that Porn flag with pay pal when sex is no part of the site anyway. Quote
Aurora078 Posted August 11, 2010 Posted August 11, 2010 So basically PayPal is saying if anything is 18+ its porn? lol. What if i made a program about rabbits and i wanted it only to 18+ ( Which is kind of stupid, but this is just an example ). Then they would call my hopping rabbit program porn? Thats no good :/ Quote
rulerofzu Posted August 11, 2010 Posted August 11, 2010 You do realise that a real person will come and look over your site at regular intervals. They dont just read the first bit of text and see 18+ and decide from there. A problem a lot of games will have is they all use the same mods and ideas. So whore house etc. Which then makes it sex industry related. A lot of companies will also frown at donations and no refunds. As this is pretty much against most countries laws on the sale of goods even virtual ones. Choosing your wording and following the rules goes along way. Ruler of Zu accepts Paypal, Mobile phone payments and 2checkout for credit and debit cards. I have already seen 2checkout mentioned here and that they do not accept donation based sites. Obviously sites such as the one seduction operates are going to be difficult to get processing services for. Im sure seduction was aware of this when making the game. Quote
Zeggy Posted August 11, 2010 Posted August 11, 2010 RulerOfZu: How is 2co working out? Do you sell in-game currency? Or how do you describe your 'product' to 2co? What size transactions do you get in your game? I want to try them out but their transaction fees look pretty steep for small payments :/ Quote
rulerofzu Posted August 11, 2010 Posted August 11, 2010 Yeah its working out good. Some players need to use pre-paid cards which paypal seems to have trouble sometimes processing. Zu sells in game currency and game items. The difference is around 2% between paypal and 2checkout. But if the player cannot make a payment through paypal and this is their only route its better to have the payment than not. As mentioned they do not accept donations so in order to get them to accept the site then this was changed to upgrades and donator days changed to master days. Also they are very strict on your game name. For example they will check your site name/domain name matches any book film etc. If it does then your not going to be accepted. Quote
Lilith Posted August 12, 2010 Posted August 12, 2010 OK, so I just had to go check out this game in question. I have to say that I have not seen that much creativity and originality in a game in a long time, major props on that even if the game is not my style. (I am married, and I don't think some of the events I got would be ok with my husband on a regular basis, without his involvement anyway lmao) But I now see the ummm, situation. Have you considered selling "member credits" usable with multiple games on a third party site that can then be cashed in with a code and used to purchase donator packs on the game in question? Quote
seduction city Posted August 13, 2010 Author Posted August 13, 2010 So basically PayPal is saying if anything is 18+ its porn? lol. What if i made a program about rabbits and i wanted it only to 18+ ( Which is kind of stupid, but this is just an example ). Then they would call my hopping rabbit program porn? Thats no good :/ Basically what they told me is we were selling porn because it is adult themed. My partner was able to convince Paypal it wasn't porn but because he is not in the US we have issues with taking credit cards directly for donations and tried to set up an account in the US so players could donate without having a Paypal account (it was requested by multiple players so we tried). Paypal would not budge that it was Porn (even though prior owners, in the US convinced them otherwise. I didn't want to bring up the other account on the chance they locked it out also). They have been more than unreasonable, and if there was another company that we could use with the same acceptance, I would drop them completely) Liltih, if you are referring to my game, thank you! I wish i could take credit but I am the second owner (well partners, and we are second owners). We have done some enhancements and changes but the basic idea was not mine. We have lots of room to improve, but I am the only one with any technical ability and as you can see it is extremely limited, and time is even more limited. (and I understand the married comments, my wife was less than thrilled with some of the interactions until she got more involved) Alert Pay caters to more fringe sites, but the fees are almost double so it has a cost! I contacted 2checkout and with our current structure they said no. I though about doing something like what ZU mentioned but the time is not there. I have also thought about creating another site that people could buy credits but figured that Paypal would eventually unravel that also. Quote
Dominion Posted August 14, 2010 Posted August 14, 2010 Paypal would not budge that it was Porn (even though prior owners, in the US convinced them otherwise if you can ask them what they said ? Quote
rulerofzu Posted August 14, 2010 Posted August 14, 2010 Rules change on payment processing all the time. So even though a previous owner was able to convince them doesnt mean that you will be able to. Quote
seduction city Posted August 20, 2010 Author Posted August 20, 2010 Paypal would not budge that it was Porn (even though prior owners, in the US convinced them otherwise if you can ask them what they said ? I think it really matters who you are talking to. They saw words like "Viagra" (our crystals), Sex and sexual items and said no. If the first person looking would have spent a few more minutes looking and then actually talking to me they would have understood. By the time I got an e-mail they had made up their mind and it didnt matter what i said. with that said. Danny backed out of Alertpay integration. I NEED SOMEONE TO WHO IS WILLING TO INTEGRATE ALERTPAY WITH OUR EXISTING PAYPAL. Reading it doesnt seem like a major job, i am willing to pay, i have more money than time. Anyone who is interested in this smallish project please contact me! Quote
rulerofzu Posted August 20, 2010 Posted August 20, 2010 Take a look at this basic ipn script for alertpay and then modify it http://wwwbay.com/2010/06/27/basic-alertpay-ipn-php-script-2/ Should be easy as you had a working paypal script so the values would be the same as your paypal script. Quote
mdshare Posted August 20, 2010 Posted August 20, 2010 Offerpal and Rewardpal are also 2 possible sollutions even to accept money through paypal. http://www.offerpalmedia.com/ http://www.rewardpal.net/ example screenshot Example Screenshot 2 Here you get paid by your members by multiple ways, you don't need to signup at all providers to implement it. They link you to all, and there are also 'Free' options for your players to gain premium benefits, eg completing surveys, or signup at one or another site Quote
