1. Ya know, if I'm quite honest, I've always been of the opinion that an engine or anything for that matter that isn't massively complicated and is well written, is fine being procedural. I'm not a die hard advocate for OOP in all cases. If your aim is to make some that is easy enough for newbs to use then keep it as such.
2. This perfectly segways into my suggestion, I was going to suggest competitions each month, one major and one minor, could be a game (TBG, PBBG or otherwise) or software etc.
3. How about a poll for the framework?
4. 1. Couldn't agree more, we don't need to get bogged down on the details until later and truth be told, no one cares about what the engine is called. 2. Do you have any in mind? The reason I'd personally go with Laravel is because of the ease of development (read: speed) and familiarity with it. 3. ... but... he seems noice? 4. The issue with this is that majority of us are PHP developers by trade and I don't think (obviously I can't speak for the rest but in all likeliness) we are well versed in other languages to make something worthwhile.
5. So, with all that outta the way, where do we start? A Github organisation called MakeWebGames with the project within that?
6. Hey, if in the process of this project (whether it comes to fruition or not) I pickup a new skill, I'll be happy with that. @Dave have you got anything else planned already? Truthfully, I think it should be a skeleton, rather than an engine, @sniko's Panther was good in the sense that it didn't tie you down to a genre (although it came with the mafia genre theme). I think we should make a base and then have branches for different genres and people can focus on the genre they want. Cheers, @SRB.
7. I could get down with this, my only issue might be Vue.js. Never used it. I've personally been toying with the idea of a game engine which is for mobiles PBBGs. So Ionic for the app and Laravel for the server.
8. @sniko can you link it please.
9. @sniko is what he is working on Github? I must admit, I never understood why you never worked on Panther more until you transferred the project to me and then I realised when... uh... well, life happened.
10. Been wondering about MWG for a while now and I ended up speaking with Dave about it today and he mentioned the URL changed. Glad to be back and glad to see a lot of the old folks here too.

Destiny

I've played and loved it. It is a grinding game where you do the same thing over and over again. I do agree with Dom that the story mode is very short. I've not played the new content as I've been playing other games.
14. My personal opinion would be to remove the collaboration area of the site completely, or to archive it for historical purposes and keep it as read only. As helpful as it can be it, it causes a lot of damage when we get threads which contain nothing but finger pointing and no proper proof. Even if real proof is shown, it is drowned under the "noise". I also suggest that we as a forum enforce rules more, so we don't attract trolls. In the past rules have been broken and it has gone ignored (Not by any of the active mods/admins). Existing game engines which are insecure and have their own sub-forum should be removed until they are secured by the owners. If we want to be taken seriously as a dev community we need to make sure the content that we allow is good. If we advertise crappy code, we are basically setting the bar for the type of users we would like to attract. A new moderation team should be chosen, I don't mean existing mods should be removed (after all Kyle has been holding down the fort while everyone's been away and he's done so brilliantly), even when the owners pretty much walked away and let the forum rot he carried on moderating. I (like others I'm sure) have admired Kyle's enthusiasm/dedication in keeping the forum "clean" and I feel that it shouldn't be his duty only, we're all members and we all should strive to better the forum. The community needs to be more involved! Small things like a weekly poll or the odd thread which sparks debates where people learn new things etc. would attract new users. Finally, it will be hard work to get MWG to its former glory and it will take time and dedication. No point having this starting momentum if in a couple weeks time people have given up.
15. The whole idea of a programming language being boring is highly opinionated as for for the limitations of a programming language, one programming language is not going to suitable for everything which is why there are hundreds of different programming languages and not just one.
16. The last known owners were NonStopCoding and adamhull. This might be of help.
17. I was going to write a big essay but I thought I'd keep it short and simple. If you want to see quick results, go hybrid. If you want to actually learn something new and have the time and patience then go native, the native route will be hard (even harder if you don't have a background in OOP), don't expect to be making fully fledged apps right away. If you apply yourself and have the dedication you'll pick it up quite quickly (like any other language). Just a bit of information, if you do go down the hybrid route I suggest using Intel XDK, instead of using Cordova/Phonegap. XDK is more of a complete experience (my personal opinion) and you can use Cordova within XDK without the hassle of setting it up, you simply select if you'd like to use Cordova and it will be added to the project. The older versions of XDK were difficult to use however the newer version have had major improvements, for example their old plugins system was removed and they added a 1 click system. Look in to Ionic, it is like the Bootstrap for hybrid apps (if that is the correct comparison). Also Android Studio is merely an IDE that Android ship with their download of SDK, it was built on top of Jetbrains' IntelliJ. I'm just going to suggest something here, why not try making another type of game instead of the typical gangster/mafia type of game, that genre is a bit overused. You'll find it hard to build a hybrid app using an existing engine as you'll have to have the HTML, CSS and JavaScript separate from the server code, meaning the APK will contain only the front-end and requests will be sent to a server with PHP files. You should consider making you own "engine". Reading Material Native vs Web vs Hybrid apps
18. For some reason I cannot edit a post it shows up as blank. So I'll post this here. Thanks to G7470 ~Rob0t W3Theory || Peter For testing and general advice.
19. As I challenge I set myself 2 days to make a Noughts & Crosses game, I ended up completing it a lot earlier than I thought so I cleaned it up and turned it in to an app and released last night. Noughts & Crosses What do you get? • 2 AI's with different difficulties (dumb and smart). • The ability to play "couch" Co-Op with a friend or family member. What is coming soon? • The ability to play other players around the world. • Hi-Score leaderboard - become the best! • Skill Level - to show others how skilled you are. What is coming sooner? • The ability to undo/redo your moves. • The ability to record your gameplay. • Create your own account. • Friends list. As always suggestion/critique is welcome.

22. Played the game and enjoyed it. Good job! One thing I would suggest is that in-game have the boost bar follow the player as they progress through a level, that way they don't have to slide down to view it again. P.S. I completed level 15 in 4 moves - granted it was fluke - try beat that. ;)
23. I would agree with CaptainQuack, I'm not just trying to join the band wagon I was going to post my thoughts when I initially saw his post on the "Maps" thread but thought I'd leave it. However I would also agree that people are judging him based on his past indiscretions (not saying they shouldn't) however they may need to ease it up a little.
24. If you stopped doing stupid things you wouldn't have to apologise as much, just an observation.
