Danny not really when you see crimgame you'll understand why the price would be higher than MC.

Mc is 100 bucks but it was 300 when it first came out i would say crimgame would be about the first price range...

Considering how much time i would spend on it and it will be secure... plus ill be spending all my time helping with support :)

Paul, gotta say this...$100 is still a damn bargain. I can see from your posts that this is going to be a good solid engine, very secure etc.

When you first open MCCodes, you already have a game (more or less), and you are taking that concept, improving your own engine to beyond this point with extras, and making it secure...one can only dream of the possibilities, for having all this for a mere third of the cost price of MCCodes.

I don't know about the engine, but for sure I'll be on CrimGame when it opens, that's *almost* a certainty (don't wanna tempt fate) :P

Updates:

General internal updates on main functions have been done and main functions rewritten to comply with 'outside the box' ideas.

Restructure of base modules in progress.

ETA on completion end of 2012.

Or in other words, ETA, end of 2013.

From what I can remember this project has been dragging and dragging on. No matter how big or complicated your game is, there's no way it would take like 3+ years to complete.

How wrong can a person be.

duke nukem forever took 14yrs.

guild wars 2 has taken 4yrs and is due for release this year.

Zu took nearly 2 years.

I could go on but you get the point. Its entirely up to Paul how long it takes and when he feels it is ready which is much better than all the other noobs who are throwing up games with no content crap template all based on the same mods and mafia theme.

Really? Funny how I have been delaying my own since early 2009.

Yet that statement ought to be true if you had spare time to work on your side projects.

Let's say you have a job that takes you 12-16 hours a day, 7 days a week, family to attend to, or even other priorities...

3 years does seem a lot? Don't think so!

You can't compare a CGI built game to a text based game. Thats just ludicrous.

Did Zu really take 2 years to complete? Damn.... shame...

Well Dog seen as I do run 3 successful businesses and employ several staff I did Zu part time as a project really for myself to see if i could do it.

So yeah nearly 2 yrs and that's with 3 young kids too.

Shame how? comparable to other games the code and features are rather different and fairly unique.

Once again you fail to understand regardless of the platform the concept is the same you dont release something until its ready.

Shame, by the fact that it took 2 year's, but no perfection is done. You can easily clean up your game a lot, if you looked at it from a users point of view. Make everything aligned. Give them space on the design, not just floating over thing's. That's why "shame".

The players have quite enjoyed the design and a new version is being made at the moment. I dont like anything to remain for too long and thats 2yrs old.

Comparable to 99% of the text games...there is no shame.

Anyhow...back on topic its about crimgame make a topic about zu if you wish.

How you can "shame" agame that has an active user base, over 2 years old and still attracting players, and most importantly is making a revenue is benond me. I don't see you with a successfull game, or even blog as you advertise. In a business perspective, two or even three years is a small amount of time, and for all this time it's taking, I'm sure Paul will create a very good game.

Life gets in the way, so it is entirely plausible that it would take over 3 years to complete.

That being said, if you're working on it non-stop for 3 years and it's still not done, it better be a bloody good game.

Nice to see people still taking interest in this project, Kieran-R sadly as DJK said life gets in the way and the project was postponed due to personal issues and other projects i embarked in.

The project should be complete in 2012 although due to recently stripping everything out and redoing it all (protectionist) end of 2012 is a estimate. Sadly i am not a typical game producer who basically downloads a engine adds a few modules and edits the theme then releases it so bare with me.

It may be based on storyline already in play but it will be unique no matter how long it takes me to produce it.

thanks for your comments it is much appreciated.

The reason I said this, is because I can remember quite a few times when you have said an "ETA", and it still hasn't been released. If you release your game within your estimated "ETA", then great. But I'd bet anything that this game doesn't get released for at least another few years, at this rate. Good luck, but I think you should get a move on with your game. Doesnt mean I don't think it will be good, though (hopefully).

'get a move on' is interesting most games fail due to lack of in-depth features to keep members entertained CG will hopefully not have this ablution other games have had due to the time and years of planning for it. Yes i did fail to release on previous ETA's although i did give a explanation which i don't feel i should give more info on lets just say family troubles. The project is being worked on a ETA is a ESTIMATED TIME OF ARRIVAL (technically should be ETB ESTIMATED TIME OF BETA) although it is a ESTIMATED TIME.

1. You're not a "protectionist".

2. You're not a "game producer".

If you have "stripping everything", it indicates to me that you either 1) had bottlenecks because of poor design, or 2) aren't very apt for creating whatever the hell you want to call this.

Doing a quick cache searches, public facing pages have been sitting there for what, a year?

It doesn't take this long to produce something.

Games are meant to be build upon, well, in the browser-based industry.

People aren't going to buy a product, they're going to buy a service from you in forms of subscriptions.

Lastly, this has been dragged along for too long.

I suggest you give "us", the people, a change-log of what you actually have been doing to your project.

You can't string people along like cats, somewhere along the line they will get pissed and attack you with sharp claws, such as Kieran-R.

Edit:

Oh and FFS people, comparing an embedded game(BBG) to anything else is just stupid.

Web-developers have tons of libraries and cross-platform compatibility at every turn, and that's even without JS frameworks such as jQuery.

ouch yes good point my spell checker made a minor mistake with the word perfectionist... at the moment my wireless keyboard is cutting out missing keys in words so im relying on spell checker to solve them. Bet this post takes me forever to write...

2. You're not a "game producer". => i am not a typical game producer who basically downloads a engine adds a few modules and edits the theme then releases it so bare with me.

If i am producing a game then i am a game producer am i not?

When i said "stripping everything out and redoing it all" i basically meant i took all my modules and reworked them due to the structure i originally created not complying with all my needs (note i created the structure more than 3 years ago) anyone going back to a project more than 3 years old notices some mistakes.

I give a valid excuse for my time from the project which everyone seemed to accept besides you (your first interaction with this post) shows alot...

...And Paul gets attacked for continuing with his project, why?

A lot of games get delayed (Check this) yet people still play the game, because of the way it functions, and the way it's unique.

So [community], don't attack people who are trying to make their project the best it possibly can.

So,

Over a year later still no sign of this game being released. Yeah, I was right.

About time people see reality.

All you people bashing me for what I said.

I don't see why you have to bump a year old thread to say that, however I doubt it has nothing to do with a planned ETA that was probably a best case scenario. I haven't seen paul around for a while, and the site itself is no longer up... I doubt that's because of poorly planned time schedule.
