To help the Visually Impaired Players + Change font styles
mdshare replied to Uridium's topic in Free Modifications
There is actually a lot more work than a different font. Each image needs a long desc , tables need a caption etc... To comply to the rules for Visually Impaired internet users .... it's really a lot of work to alter a website -
I've always been a fan to see the status of a website, yet in this browsergame world not many use those. Here is a list of types I'm aware of. Standard development status types: dev - Dev or pre-Alpha-Versions are used to present more or less working features. These versions are usually intended for developers and for test cases only. alpha - Alpha versions are the first test versions for public audience and contain the very basic features. As alpha versions usually contain a lot of errors they are not suited for productive systems. beta - Beta Versions are unfinished versions which contain most of the features but are not tested yet. These versions may still contain severe errors so productive use is not recommeneded. RC - Release Candidates are final test versions. The versions contain all features of the final versions. The intention is final testing and the elemination of all remaining bugs.

After lets say 20 replies or so we could make a multi category/vote poll so that the community builds the final list. And I have also more than posted in my post just didn't want to list to much :p

Well to give everyone a fair chance ingame I think shortening the days would be the way to go. Offcourse if using server time there could be a US, EU, AU server but that would lock players out ... But EU players would always play at night on the AU server for example ... and I doubt it's good to split up a new game to soon to different timezone servers.
-
Since long I've been thinking on having a day/night in games Yet we strugle with the different timezones of players. So if it would be day in europe it could still be night for US players ingame. Now what if we would make the game days shorter eg 24h game time would be 16h real time, so in a way day/night would happen for different timezones as it would move up each real day with 8h so one day you would play during night at a game, next day could be day time adding a night/day ingame could give also more room for the game development as day/night bonusses, different skills, and so on so lets discuss this and work it better out

Why would you copy the line numbers ? Just mark the source code div and ctrl-c And next to copy/paste mod writers can also upload their mod to the scriptsvault and linking to their topic. The Line numbers have also a advantage, discussions in the mod thread should make it easier to point out parts of the mod. eg at line 101 you could replace with ?????

Welcom back, You also have the ability to download your messages , so important oned don't really have to be deleted. To be able to show more PMs per page , go to your profile > settings > display settings. If you have any questions feel free to ask. md

The folders are there yet not as front board ones anymore, they are now sub boards of mccode . So there isn't much difference with previous forum.
-
can't say as I have never seen the source of it

Demo can be found here http://world2.glorylands.gr/

We have added the opensource game script nomic 1.3.1 to the script vault. This might not really be a game engine/script you look for but it could give ideas or something to build on. Discuss this game script in this thread. Thanks, md
-
Then we go back to a solely mccode board, which we try to expand to not only mccode. Giving people a chance to experiment and try out other engines and write modifications for. I have a big list of game engines/scripts to ad to the scripts vault. For example GloryLands which is imo already superior simply due to the usage of smarty as templating engine.

Old threads can be set back if requested, and thx that you like it

Not going to fight over it but it was stated that the passwords would be different encrypted so a new password would have to be requested... But I do agree that I should have informed everyone better as the change has a 'shock effect' for a lot of people. Even as wbb is one of the most used forum engines in the browsergame world it isn't really known in our market share of game development. So it's learning again to navigate etc.
-
It has been announced more than a week ago. And I would love to see a script that would convert SMF encrypted pw to the wbb encryption , if you find one let me know doubtfull actually you will. And writing one, if it would be so easy to convert encrypted pw to another encryption it would have been made a long time ago.

The reason herefor is that sites hosted in the USA (server located in the US) have to comply to COPPA. The Children’s Online Privacy Protection Act (COPPA) is a United States law designed to protect children on the Internet. MakeWebGames.com is hosted in the United States and as our site collects personal information also from children under the age of thirteen (13) years (not every member of CE/MWG is older than 13y), we MUST adhere to COPPA regulations. You can read more about this topic at the following websites: http://www.coppa.org http://www.ftc.gov/bcp/conline/edcams/coppa/index.html http://www.ftc.gov/bcp/conline/pubs/buspubs/coppa.shtm http://www.ftc.gov/bcp/conline/pubs/buspubs/coppakit.pdf (A comprehensive e-booklet that outlines how to be COPPA compliant.) Children registering on our site will be shown a form where they can fill out profile fields, in addition to entering information about their parent or legal guardian. Once completed, this form is printed out, signed by the parent or legal guardian, and returned via facsimile or postal mail. Receipt of the completed document authorizes you to activate the child's account (via clicking an appropriate button). As for hiding your birthday, we will ad this feature on the profile settings.

Yea several parts have still to be tweaked but explain the top nav please POG1 As for recent topics etc Search Box Pulldown Unread posts Unreplied threads Threads of the last 24 hours Additionally after a logout and back in you will get a msg to show the new posts since last visit. Now this can be heavy extended but I think it's best to have everyone get settled with the already overwhelming stuff. Possibility of extending it: Members can integrate boxes containing the latest posts and threads into the index page, as well as into any board page. These boxes contain – depending on the settings – the latest three to fifteen posts and threads of a custom selection of boards. Every list can also be accessed as a stand-alone page or as a RSS feed, and registered users can fully customize the design and contents of the »Latest Posts and Threads«-boxes in their user profile.

Spudinski, I would say to go to your profile and check all the settings how you can customize the board to your likings. Also the last posts etc will be added again, is simply not activated at this point as it will hold additional features. And there are always people complaining and saying they will leave, we had that on CE also more than once yet a year later they are still there. And the userbase grows constantly as board activity. CE changed from IPB > phpBB > SMF > (1 week vBulletin) > SMF and now WBB

Might be due to my end I'll check some session variables, might have been set a bit to harsh on security ... (checking blocks of IP in session, browser, etc)
