@gwink, we both seemed to misunderstand the chinese gold farmers Taken from: http://www.guardian.co.uk/technology/gamesblog/2009/jul/15/games-evony-spam-internet Evony is the product of Universal Multiplayer Game Entertainment (UMGE), a developer linked to a Chinese gold-farming operation called WoWMine. That site has also come in for regular criticism, but the real kicker comes with the news that the company's owners are being sued by Microsoft over allegations of click fraud.
-
ok that's a racist remark but I believe it evolved to such lines simply due to counter actions from Evony... on a forum we would call it trolling I guess His first posts was simply about the advertising campaigns they where doing ...
-
I find this really far fetched a game company getting a lawyer onboard to attack a Games Marketeer questioning the evony marketing/advertising campaigns. Article: http://www.bruceongames.com/2009/08/25/evony-want-to-sue-me-for-telling-the-truth/ So lets discuss this... My opinion, If Evony wins this nobody will dare to write a article anymore about a game, a negative comment could get you a court case.

Ah I didn't counted in the network fee. True yet they do the marketing for your product once in their network you don't have to search for affiliates etc ... long term it should be earned back pretty fast.

So I've been looking around for a different method to advertise games at a lower cost than the common advertising methods of paying per click. What if you would only pay per signup ? So I stumbled on the cheapiest ad network that uses this method for their merchants, cost would be 30 cent per signup. Looks expensive yet is actually cheaper as you only pay for people that register and validate on your game. Now what would be the benefit for the game owner ? Better control of where your ads would be published as you can accept sites that want to become a affiliate of yours. Unless auto activate. You only pay per signup and not anymore per click, so your conversion rate is at 100% as you don't have to count the clicks anymore without a signup Impressions delivered could be pretty impressive if you have a lot of affiliates, which you don't even have to search methods of only pay if sign up is active eg 1-2 weeks before validating the signup The network that would fit for the budget of most game owners to setup a merchant account is shareasale, check it out or go directly to their sign up page There are loads of options for the game owner, eg only accepting UK/USA signups, etc ...
-
As pointed out in a different thread advertising browsergames on flash game sites is actually bad, it's a total different market segment your clicks will run out fast with a minimum conversion.

It's addictive but a plain dumb AI ... way to predictable and NPC spawn locations are fixed per map The storyline is pretty good. The interesting part is the control of your troops, you can't really control them they do what they wish to do even taking stupid actions ... but you can coordinate them somehow by placing like a bounty on a enemy head eg 1000 gold so 3-5 of your troops would attack it then. Same for explore you need to plant flags on the map but being cheap and none of your troops will go explore ...

If u ever imagined to play American football with fantasy characters such as Orcs, Elves, Humans, Dwarfs and many others then this game is for you, there are lots of weapons, magic, tricks to win the game. Description: A brutal team sport unfolding in a parallel fantasy world based on Warhammer and American football, Blood Bowl invites gamers to form a team of players from such races as: Orcs, Elves, Humans, Dwarfs and many other fantasy creatures, and launch themselves into battle in the bloodiest of arenas. This strategy sports game combines a fine balance of tactics and bonecrunching action! The basic principle couldn’t be any simpler: two teams, one ball. The team that gets the ball into the opponents’ Endzone scores a Touchdown. The team with the most Touchdowns at the end of the game is the winner… that is if you survive! Because in Blood Bowl - anything goes! Fists fly through the air throwing blocks at opposing players, while feet (or hooves!) stomp on those unlucky enough to end up on the floor. If an opponent bothers you a little too much, wait for the referee to look away, then tear off his arm and trample that pesky foe while he’s down! Its use of humor, magic, weapons and other unconventional methods makes Blood Bowl stand head and shoulder (along with broken arms, legs and skulls) above other sports simulations. Features: The game offers two game modes. The first, which is fully real time, offers a spectacular gameplay. Intense battles between blocking linemen and daring displays of agility of players leaping and dodging through opponents tackle zones, while powerful spells and dirty trick special plays are unleashed across the pitch; all this creates a highly charged atmosphere. Of course, since it is sometimes difficult to keep an eye on the entire field at once, the game’s interface offers different tactical and strategic setups, while the AI is responsible for managing the players on the field. The second game mode, an actual turn-based game, is a treat for players of the original board game because it is an exact replica of Games Workshop’s tabletop masterpiece. The original rules have been faithfully reproduced, and it contains all of the devices, strategies, play and rhythm of the original game. Coaching Blood Bowl teams is not limited to the field, as they are heavily influenced by events off the pitch too! As the head coach you must maintain the reputation and popularity of your players, recruit cheerleaders and encourage spectators to pour onto the field to trample the opposing team when the opportunity arises. You can also bribe the referee, get opposing players banned for using illegal substances, or even recruit a Wizard to cast spells from the sidelines and many more behind the scenes actions. Whatever your choice is, real time or turn-by-turn, the game is faithful to the official rules of Blood Bowl. Your players will have the same characteristics and skills as in the board game. Some players will specialize in throwing the ball, some in catching and dodging or simply in blocking opponents. With the full list of (nearly a hundred!) skills we can promise almost innumerable tactics and combinations of strategies. With eight different races drawn from the Warhammer World, gamers have a huge variety of playing styles to choose from. Traditional Humans and Orcs are available of course, but also Skaven, Dwarfs, Wood Elves, Goblins, Lizardmen or even Chaos! Players can also recruit one of the “Big Guys”, bigger and more brutal versions of the Blood Bowl players. Among them are the Minotaur, the Troll the Ogre and the Kroxigor. The player may as well unlock certain Blood Bowl All Stars, prestigious players from the past. All of these “Star Players” often make the difference in a tight match. The single-player experience allows the player to manage a team throughout an entire season of Blood Bowl, through the Old World of Warhammer. The team will evolve over the course of victories, experience gained and awards won. With its immense depth, the game can almost be considered as a management game, from managing the popularity and sponsorship of players to the purchase and sale of players, as well as their aging, retirement and even death. In multiplayer, the player will be able to throw down a challenge to other Blood Bowl players and participate in large tournaments on the Internet in order to climb the official ranks (ladder). “home” competitions where the player can play friendlies, without affecting his official ranking. Description: Guide your race from its first interstellar journeys, until it becomes a mighty galactic empire. Along the way, you’ll explore the galaxy, conduct research, diplomacy and trade, found new colonies, maneuver mighty star fleets, and fight epic battles. Although the game is complex, and the possible strategies endless, powerful help and advisor features, help you get up to speed quickly. Unlike many games in this genre, Armada 2526 focuses on providing a game that can be finished in a reasonable time, and emphasizes battle and strategy over economic micro-management. The game captures the essential elements of the 4x experience and shifts smoothly between turn-based empire management and real time battles. The pattern should be familiar to any 4x aficionado. You begin with one single planet and a handful of ships under your control. From these humble beginnings, you’re meant to explore the galaxy, expand your territory, exploit the resources under your control, and exterminate any rivals whose concerns conflict with your own. With no scripted conflict and multiple paths to victory, each game develops according to the players’ interactions with each other. It makes for a complex game design but one that is also endlessly compelling when done correctly. Features: The game system encourages you to specialize in particular areas of tech, so as you expand and meet new players, you will find that they have radically different capabilities Epic space battles In Armada 2526 you can negotiate offensive and defensive alliance, non aggression pacts and trade agreements.
