Check this article, it will explain the issue: http://www.extremetech.com/computing/136975-compromised-phpmyadmin-download-reinforces-importance-of-verifying-checksums

Hi, Due to the high amount of interest, I thought it would make sense to change a bit the license rules. Currently the free and dev version of the engine doesn't allow you to use it for your own game and force you to buy the full version. Somehow I feel this requirement a bit annoying. What I propose is the following: - The free and dev version will be upgraded to the latest version of the engine and will include the login as well as the registration (without catpcha). - The dev version will stay as license to sell your mods directly from the market place as well as offer a direct integration with the market place for example to update the modules from within the engine. (This may not be the final thing, as it's still under discussion.) - Free modules developed with the free can be submitted but will need to go through email, and not directly from the engine and will take more time to be reviewed. - The free and dev version are not open source, basically you can use it, but don't have the right to re-distribute it with or without modifications. You still have the right to use it for development or productive games. - The full version will continue as is, and offers the huge difference of including all the features you all know about it: being XSS filter, HTTP cache, and all the modules. Modules offered in the full version are also not open source, so don't expect to buy one full and install 2000 games with it ;-) The license change is immediately valid, yet I still need the time to upgrade the free / dev packages.

Someone complaining in the chat that it wasn't possible to install NWE on a free host. So I made some trials and come with: http://byethost.com/free-hosting It took a couple of min to create the host, but then, installing NWE was not an issue. So in case you need one, you may use this free hosting... even if personally I would not use a free hosting and instead use XAMP, WAMP or LAMP

V3 was planned to be released not last year but actually 3 years ago if I remember (Dabs said in 2009 it was a couple of month away). So don't hope it will come any time soon and maybe actually it will never come. For raven.info, the issue is a bit more complex, you could shut down a site (maybe) if you prove they are breaking your copyright, yet, nothing prevent they open again a new site. Sad but it's hard to really stop their business as suing them may prove itself too expensive to really make sense.

Well as it's seems open source (yet I don't find back the license) anyone could pick up the job of editing it and improve it. So instead of complaining it's dead, take the job on you.

Looking for someone to code me a feature.

Then next time please post it in the right section... -
Because maybe it offer anyhow some features... even if you should fix some.

You didn't say for what engine / code you want. Is it for your own self written script or V2? -
Link doesn't work...

maybe it simply end up in the spam folder, did you checked?

GPL allows to charge for a package like you pay for a Redhat enterprise which is based mostly on GPL software. Yet, there is a catch, you must provide free access to the sources as well, that's how Cent-OS is made=> Redhat enterprise recompiled and repacked => Cent-OS as well as other distributions. So are you allowed to sell your software bases on ezRPG? Yes, but people should have a way to get a free copy of the sources as well without the need of paying anything. Are people allowed to re-distribute your code as well? Yes, and actually even charge again for a copy as long as they keep the same copyright and license => free access to the sources.

Nice additions, even if it's mainly only security improvements. So congratz for the release.

True... but still ASPx.NET is not a 3rd party lib for me... or an external lib. PHP also requires mod_php or something inside apache to run as web app ;) Also, you could skip the aspx and do the web serving yourself... I did it for a project of mine where a GUI acted also as webserver which you could connect for remote control.
-
Because you already studied all the existing game engines?
-
I don't even understand the goal of the project... Have a bunch of links?

The whole concept behind his script is that you don't download but simply create a game on his server. If you want to download a script there is enough alternatives IMO.

I'm lost... VB.NET can be used to create a website like you do with PHP => yes. All what's needed is included if you take the visual studio express web developer or something similar (btw the payed versions of visual studio can do all those kind of projects without having to switch between them) or you can do it also via mono develop which is free (don't know about VB.NET on mono develop as I used only C# there). So no you don't need any external special tools, .NET can do that without a glitch.
-
You are talking about active X or signed scripts. Nothing to do with a normal web application where VB.NET or C# generate the HTML / CSS / JS like PHP does.
-
VB .NET in case not CB And VB.NET or any .NET can be used to create web applications as well as desktop applications or services or phone apps. Personally I prefer from a long run C# to VB but it's matter of taste. And no we will not create a VB section till there is actually any content for it.

Is Object-Oriented PHP (OOP) A Effective Code & Will It Improve My Coding?
a_bertrand replied to Razor42's topic in PHP
For those which do not have a clue about what traits are (like me 5 min ago): http://simas.posterous.com/new-to-php-54-traits Seems a nice feature to have for me. Not sure how often I would use it but well it's there. -
On paper or electronic document (no programming): 1) Decide a story 2) Write the story (actors, steps, end, etc...) 3) Define the game 4) Setup the game rules 5) Make lists of items, NPC 6) Define maps, dialogs, quests or whatever is relevant to your game 7) From the story and game play extract the requirements of your engine like, being a 2D platform game, need to have multi player actions like PvP, etc. Now it needs a computer: 8) Check if a game engine fits at least partially the requirements 9) (optional) Try to setup a rapid prototype of your game with or without the game engine, to see if it makes some sense, and if it could be playable 10) Code the missing piece or the whole engine if you didn't found any engine fitting your needs. 11) Implement the content 12) Alpha test and implement the remarks of your players (if they make sense) 12) Beta test 13) Fix bugs 14) Go in production

A challenge? No... Just I don't see how you can write a kernel in PHP or a driver, or any low level operation. Same in C# even if some people made some sort of kernel in C# it still require some low level stuff which I believe is still done in C++. You could skip C++ and do in assembler, but I doubt it's more comfortable ;)
-
Indeed, instead of starting from an engine, start from a story. A game should be first a story, defines the goals, then the gameplay and rules and then only at the end be implemented. If you reverse, and start from an engine, you usually end up with something lacking in the story side, which makes the game annoying.

want to have a radio player brocasted from your pc
a_bertrand replied to Raven1992's topic in Services
Seems illegal to me. Also quoting their own "legal" statement "You are responsible for paying any applicable taxes and for all non U.S. royalties and licensing fees..." As normal radios (web or non) needs to pay royalties for the diffusion of the music they play. It is NOT free. So you can't simply share your MP3 with your players without paying the royalties. So sorry... no, this server should be avoided IMO. (edited your post to remove the link due to the clash with our rules) Honestly you would be better served by playing some open content music or purchase some music to stream / play with your game. -
Why crack something when it runs for free? I doubt you have a cracked version of windows 8 as simply you can download it for free from microsoft. On the other hand, it doesn't require more resources than windows 7, and may be even a bit faster. Yet the metro interface is a pure pain, saying goodbye to the start menu is for me more than annoying, desktop widgets: too bad I use some, and... the new look and feel sorry I fell it worse than windows 7. So overall I don't see any advantages for me only drawbacks.
