He promised even to send me the fix the day after I reported it... I'm still waiting but you know... those are all just chitchat... no real things behind.
-
No it's not. It's something a lot more annoying and yet... harder to fix.
-
Well the one I reported doesn't seems to have been patched... Reported more than 2 month ago? I don't remember.

As I told you in chat, currently it seems like a reworked Mafia game. Nothing special, but nothing which really attracts either. If you want to make an engine for the others to develop on, you have to provide a good infrastructure and show how your system is any better of the current / concurrent engines.

NWE Free and Dev 1.1.3 released! Use it as will now!
a_bertrand replied to a_bertrand's topic in New Worlds Engine
Yes it's possible, and all depends on what the base McCode mod is. Actually coding things for NWE should not be more complex than coding then for V2. In some case it could be actually easier as for example you normally don't need to code any admin side, as the engine will do most of the work for you. -
Installing PHP, Apache and NWE on Ubuntu
a_bertrand replied to a_bertrand's topic in New Worlds Engine
On ubuntu, I must admit I'm far from being a master of it... I'm too used to Cent-OS. And if you think some info is lacking, then let me know what, I'm more than willing to improve it. I would be more than happy if you share your doc, any info is always helpful. From sublimetext own website: "Sublime Text may be downloaded and evaluated for free, however a license must be purchased for continued use." So... as far as I see / read it, it's not really free. Sure they don't push you, but yet it's not free. -
From what you describe it's hardly an MVC... But whatever... - Register => and you need to login? Why not login directly after registration? - Login => succes, click to continue? Sorry makes no sense - Multiple XSS vulnerabilities... - No tutorial... ok too bad - Captcha "click on the gun" fun but totally unsafe for a bot, why? odd enough your images are button and the gun has a name "valid"... hard to make a bot see it, isn't it? Honestly, from what I see, it's yet another bunch of "features" which are all extremely limited... You can hardly call it an engine. I see basically no real concept, nothing new, nothing fun... seems a pale copy of so many "mafia" games. For those willing to test: Username: demo12 Password: demo12

Installing PHP, Apache and NWE on Ubuntu
a_bertrand replied to a_bertrand's topic in New Worlds Engine
I saw sublimetext however as you point out it's not free, where Komodo Edit is. That's why I placed Komodo Edit there. You could use maybe eclipse or others... it was more to fill the gap for someone starting on Linux than anything else. -
NWE Free and Dev 1.1.3 released! Use it as will now!
a_bertrand replied to a_bertrand's topic in New Worlds Engine
Sorry, but if you are not willing to spend the money for it, then why do you expect even 50$ would be payed? Think that if you are a kid without money you will anyhow have troubles with hosting, domain name and whatever else. For those you can start with the free package and a free hosting... However the free hosting will not bring you much... And no I'm not all that keen to go way too low, I think that if I make a offer, 30% shall be enough, 50% is too much in my opinion or it would mean => I'm not selling any and expect to grab some fast money. It's not the case therefore there is no real need for it. Sorry. -
NWE Free and Dev 1.1.3 released! Use it as will now!
a_bertrand replied to a_bertrand's topic in New Worlds Engine
True realm, there is still no running game. I still hope to see one soon ;-) For the discount, I was actually thinking of having a special week or something like that. But 50 % or more seems... a lot. Usually special deals are 30% or so... But we shall see. So start saving your money now and let's say last week of the month (October) will be the special week. -
A full info about how to install all what you need on the Linux distribution Ubuntu can be found here: http://www.nw-engine.com/wiki/index.php/Ubuntu_Install I offer there info about how to setup Apache, PHP and MySQL, as well as how to easily install NWE (whatever version). Additional info about how to enable the PHP error display and how to install yourself a good PHP editor is included. Comments / feedback are welcome. If you need to have the same kind of info on another distro let me know. I could also do it for XAMPP on Windows if needed.

For the super lazy one - NWE Self extracted
a_bertrand replied to a_bertrand's topic in New Worlds Engine
Updated the self installing tool. It wasn't properly working on all hosts now it should be more compatible. Enjoy. -
NWE Free and Dev 1.1.3 released! Use it as will now!
a_bertrand replied to a_bertrand's topic in New Worlds Engine
I hope it will help some people out there... at least push them to TRY something different for once. -
NWE Free and Dev versions have been upgraded to 1.1.3. Not only the license allows you to use it for a commercial purpose, but more modules have been added as well. There is now a full login / register / lost password system and the in game messaging system has been added as well. Head here: http://www.nw-engine.com/ And grab now your copy!

McCodes or NWE should do part of the trick, then you will have to put in some code to implement the story. Sorry but either you pay some good amount of money to someone which could do something for you (yet remains to be seen how much and what do you exactly get for the money), or you do it yourself. Better you choose the second road as you would be able to customize it as will and fix all the potential issues as they rise. BTW for the features list you ask, if it's all custom, then 2000-5000 could be a reasonable price, if it's partially based on an existing engine, then the price could be lower as the engine could already provide some if not all what you need. Still, don't expect to have a full working game coded for you for less than 1000-2000$

Thanks for the tip DJ!

Microsoft have some video how to start with C#: http://channel9.msdn.com/Series/C-Sharp-Fundamentals-Development-for-Absolute-Beginners From their own website: "Want to learn a different language? Over the course of 24 episodes, our friend Bob Tabor from www.LearnVisualStudio.net will teach you the fundamentals of C# programming. Tune in to learn concepts applicable to video games, mobile environments, and client applications." Check it if you are even just interested to see what C# / .NET can do, and may help you start with this world.

I shall add: this is the last time I leave one of your threads as "Please help". Next time put something useful in the subject as stated in our rules.
-
BTW how come you downgraded to V2 instead of keeping Redux?
-
Then don't write and wait till you can put something which makes at least some sense.
-
me neither. Please remember the rules Raven: USE FULL WORDS, we are not here to decode your garbage.
-
Because you abused bad words my dear.

I was wondering if you guys would be interested to have NWE supporting the new Persona password free login offered by mozilla.org. It's free, it should be relatively easy, and should be safe: https://login.persona.org/ and https://developer.mozilla.org/en-US/docs/persona Let me know what you think. That could be included in the next version if you think it's of any good.
-
As we told you now a good number of times Raven: START FROM THE STORY! You have just a bunch of scripts put online and think it's a game? Sorry it's not... it's just plain boring.

I actually use Tektonic since a while, and I must say I'm happy with them... I would not take any VPS from a private guy which has no real history records as your site could very well disappear tomorrow or even steal your code. So stay with trusted companies ;)
