If you ever do need a little help getting going, let me know and I may be able to add some features (tuned to your site feel/genre of course).
-
It's nice looking, but there needs to be more going on really, the Explore area is pretty barren at the moment.

Very nice work indeed....email me at: [email protected] I may have some possible work for you.

Hey all, A weird error has cropped up with this one. When I insery the 'My Gang' link with the URL: http://domain.com/zFamily.php?p=myFam (domain.com with my domain in place of course) I get this error: You have an error in your SQL syntax; check the manual that corresponds to your MySQL server version for the right syntax to use near '' at line 1 Query was SELECT `username` FROM `users` WHERE `userid`= The lines in that section: $r = $db->fetch_row($db->query("SELECT * FROM `family_mod` WHERE `ID`={$ir['gang']}")); $members = $db->fetch_row($db->query("SELECT COUNT(`gang`) AS `gang` FROM `users` WHERE `gang`={$ir['gang']}")); $president = $db->fetch_row($db->query("SELECT `username` FROM `users` WHERE `userid`={$r['PRES']}")); $vice_pres = $db->fetch_row($db->query("SELECT `username` FROM `users` WHERE `userid`={$r['vPRES']}")); The variables are all in their correct places, so what's going on? Appreciate any help.

Due to some unexpected life events happening, I am putting Realm of Legends up for sale...realmoflegends.com. Hosting is paid up until the end of the month, good CPanel hosting. Game includes lots of features, including a few customized ones, and a decent number of members to start with. Ranked on a number of game ranking sites pretty well already. I'm fielding all manner of offers, reasonable ones please. You can post here or PM me. I will accept PayPal payment, USD preferred. Thanks!

Got in....the interface is pleasant and smooth, and it doesn't look bad. It needs a bit more stuff to do, and maybe a few more graphics to liven it up a bit, and at least an attempt at a 'story' of some kind (quests, missions, etc). I assume these are all in the pipeline, this being an alpha and all. If you do need any help adding mods/features/ideas, etc, I have lots of experience with designing these games now, and some PHP knowledge too. I could lend a hand, if you would happen to need one at a later point. Feel free to PM me.

I'd like to see Gangster Legends get finished off to 1.0, that would be very nice indeed. I have some interesting ideas about a project to do with it.
-
When I log in now (both Firefox and IE, Win 7, latest updates of everything), all I see is a blank white screen. More alpha mixups?
-
Nice job as usual, Curt...may have to look at this as a replacement for my current 'Streets' type mod, or an additional feature maybe.
-
Registration doesn't work (always says username unavailable no matter what I enter), and i'm using a username/pass combo I always use for these sites that i'm sure I used for the pre-signup, doesn't seem to work either. No pw recovery link either. meh.

The one from Josh is pretty decent, even if it did have a fair number of small bugs that had to be fixed before it was really fully usable (same with his Fishing mod, where the time expiraton on Fishing Permits didn't work at all and the operation of it was more or less undocumented). I haven't been able to reach him (Josh) for some time either here or on MSN.

Peter: If you need help with design, ideas, writing, etc. please do feel free to contact me. I've been a game designer for various companies (Matrix, EA, etc) for over 11 years, and I like to think I could contribute a bit in any area you may need. :)

Sounds like a hosting or server issue of some sort. Are you using a free host or one that restricts Crons? Some hosts dislike 1 or 5 minute crons.
-
Thanks Xanthia, appreciate the words! I did do my best to add little surprises here and there, and not make it a humdrum MCC game. Feel free to shoot me a message (or email at: [email protected]) with info about any little bugs you may have found or what you think may improve it. I'm always looking to do so, of course. Also, your link should reference signup.php, not register.php.

Well: A) Not continuous work the whole time :) B) It has roughly twice as many features as many similar games when opening C) Many of the features aren't just stock mods, but usually they're modified with theme and content additions of some sort. There's an actual storyline in the Quests area that develops over time, as opposed to just a mass of stuff to do with no real point. Some actual thought has been put into the balancing of the stuff and the writing; it isn't just 'you mugged a bum for $10', etc.

Hey all, Just posting a notice that my game, 7+ months in the making, has been (for now) finished and has been opened for people to register and play. Lots of stuff to do, a few unique mods and different takes and additions on existing mods and a bit of a storyline in the Quests to follow too that unlock as you complete them. A somewhat different approach to the 'standard' MCC game. Feel free to check it out: http://www.realmoflegends.com Thanks!
-
I took that approach, putting much of the Main Menu into the header with icons rather than the long side text thing (Explore, Donate, Crimes, Gym, etc). Looks much nicer.
-
If they worked previously, and you can run them manually, it sounds like a hosting issue, possibly.

This does not work? */5 * * * * curl http://domainname.com/cron_fivemins.php?code=stringofnumbersandletters

I use this one in my game, really nice mod, easy to use.

>That's why we are emphasizing badly that our pre-alpha product won't be a "instant successor" and once we nail out everything and plan a massive marketing campaign where we will capture a huge market then we will hire what is necessary to make the game become better in more aspects than just development. The only trouble with that is: people (in this sector in particular) tend to have short attention spans, from my experience. They might not hang out long enough if the alpha/beta product is fairly barebones graphically to see any sort of 'master plan' come together. It's the smart way to do it in terms of execution, but in terms of drawing (and keeping) a large audience, it may prove to be less effective. Just a few thoughts anyhow. I hope it works out for you guys.

Ouch, that would make me alarmed a bit. I'm assuming the game balance is going to be structured to account for this? Otherwise, the power in the game will swing quickly and irreversibly to the pre-reg people, with little hope of 'normal players' catching up. I did sign up because i'm curious though. :) PS > IMHO: The background on that starting page needs to be replaced with something a bit more...streamlined. I could suggest some graphics or help in this area if you need or want it. I like the fact you seem smart and have a plan in mind (similar to my own soon to launch browser game, which has a plan and a goal in mind).

It's just a black screen with some white text, a little dull. I assume there will be more graphics or something visually added later?
