JakeB Posted May 4, 2010 Posted May 4, 2010 Hello, Jake here! I would like to personally invite you to join PBBG-Engine The free PHP RPG Engine! You can download it 100% free! Also, you can make and release your own plugins to the public! It has a very easy to use hook system, and a custom database layer (currently supports mySQL, MySQLi, SQLite, and PostgreSQL) All of the core functions that come in the system are located called directly from the core class, and can be called via the $core variable! Features include: Fully customizeable Easy to use Plugin system basic admin panel Plugin installer Hook system Template system (modified from Smarty) custom database class register login main page and that's about it, it is VERY basic as it is just the engine to build your game on. Hope to see you there! Jake Quote
a_bertrand Posted May 5, 2010 Posted May 5, 2010 1) Your are pointing to a nearly empty forum. So basically you are trying to get members to your site. 2) There is no visible download link... again for me seems a scam more than anything else 3) Your site is just WAY too slow. So stop the spam, if you want new members to your forum, state so, if you offer a new engine then provide some download link, and try to improve your hosting. Quote
Djkanna Posted May 5, 2010 Posted May 5, 2010 There is an engine of sorts available to download but I have to admit I did have to look for the download! Quote
JakeB Posted May 5, 2010 Author Posted May 5, 2010 The download link is an attachment on the release thread, which can be viewed in the board 'releases' I'm going to make it much easier to download in a bit :p Quote
Dave Posted May 5, 2010 Posted May 5, 2010 So you can afford vBulletin? but cannot afford a domain? Quote
JakeB Posted May 5, 2010 Author Posted May 5, 2010 I have the license from my old site still.. Someone donated the money to buy the vBulletin and it had a domain, but now i use it for this Quote
Enigma Posted May 5, 2010 Posted May 5, 2010 Thanks for sharing this with our community, I'll have a look at the engine and tell you what I think about it :) ------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------- Just checked out the engine and the code is very clean. I love the use of Smarty ( like learning a whole other language eh? ) and the plug-in system is great, this is an engine so don't expect a full game like the other scripts. This engine has great potential because of the modular system which can build a large community of enthusiasts. Total lines of code: 13785 - Just thought I'd let you know ;) BTW guys the website loads fine for me and my internet is currently screwed due to some problems at my telephone exchange  ------------------------------------------ Screenshots ------------------------------------------ http://yfrog.com/htscreenshot6zdp http://yfrog.com/59screenshot7ip http://yfrog.com/74screenshot8zp http://yfrog.com/74screenshot9jp http://yfrog.com/0jscreenshot10jp Quote
a_bertrand Posted May 6, 2010 Posted May 6, 2010 I still find it fishy that you must register in order to even see the announcements. I would expect that you can at least browse those posts without any account. Quote
Zero-Affect Posted May 6, 2010 Posted May 6, 2010 Sounds interesting but i must agree with Alain it does seem a little fishy. Quote
JakeB Posted May 11, 2010 Author Posted May 11, 2010 I have just purchased the domain "pbbg-engine.org" for this site :) Thank you to all who have downloaded, and registered! Jake Quote
JakeB Posted June 24, 2010 Author Posted June 24, 2010 PBBG-Engine has been completely rewritten! It features an XML-based plugin system instead of the old ugly PHP one, also we have moved to a new, more reliable server. http://pbbg-engine.org Quote
Dominion Posted June 24, 2010 Posted June 24, 2010 hey was taking a quick look you may want to take a look at this as $_SERVER['PHP_SELF'] is used in your engine $_SERVER['PHP_SELF'] alternative/vulnerability Quote
JakeB Posted June 24, 2010 Author Posted June 24, 2010 Thank you, that is fixed in the next release :p Quote
Aries Posted July 15, 2010 Posted July 15, 2010 Very nice script and very well written but i recommend if you want to get popularity you need a fully written script as 97% of people on this forum like a ready made game. Quote
Zeggy Posted July 15, 2010 Posted July 15, 2010 Very nice script and very well written but i recommend if you want to get popularity you need a fully written script as 97% of people on this forum like a ready made game. In my opinion, this is a problem that shouldn't be encouraged. Lazy people make lazy games, and while a few of these games may succeed to some degree, it still shouldn't be the accepted standard. The user should be required to do at least a bit of work in making real decisions about their game. Otherwise all that's happening is people running a copy of somebody else's game. And back on topic: your game engine looks pretty awesome :) Especially the automated plugin system, reminds me of smf's package system but simpler to use. Quote
JakeB Posted July 17, 2010 Author Posted July 17, 2010 Thank you zeggy, We're currently working on loads of new features for the next release :) Quote
