That's completely true, but how many full time freelancers with no other job are around on mwg? Maybe some are, but I doubt all their commissioned work comes from mwg. I can't place a number on that. I'd say most are still students or people who work on side-projects in their free time. Same counts for me, I have real job (educational for now), so mwg + "related work" (I find it scary to call it work) comes afterwards when I have the time. Which doesn't mean I'll work for $5, I'm just looking for the right opportunity. Sometimes I'll do a freebie, sometimes I won't. But I think some people rather get a little bit of pocket change in order to spend it on something else on the internet so they turn out break even.

Split to http://makewebgames.io/showthread.php/41747-Split-Would-you-work-for-5

Topic split from http://makewebgames.io/showthread.php/41745-Layout But think about this "open source" .. they don't get paid at all, while some others do. I'd say it really depends on what you're doing and for what reason ;)

Hence, the family and not distro-based voting ;) @lithium Can't argue with that! However, I seem to find it easier to work/switch with yum and apt than portage (or emerge for that matter).
-
That's the whole list! What if all would be gone forever and you could only chose one? :-P
-
Next time, just reply that you have found someone. At least we can get an overview of what work is being done around here, what needs work by default and what not else. You don't have to share details or anything though.
-
I'd say it looks quite stunning dave! I didn't know you had it on sale though..
-
Nothing to worry about illusions ;) I'm quite sure not everyone has used these systems enough to make a grounded choice. I myself doubt between debian vs RPM family, used both of those the most too...
-
Well I assume most of you are familiar with working on some unix/linux/related distribution. I'm not sketching any situation, I'm not listing distributions either. I'm not asking which is the most secure, or the most stable. No I'm asking for your favorite for various use of tasks ;) whether it's for a server, a desktop or a laptop. What one is your favorite choice? If I have forgotten any family you'd like to see listed or vote on, just post a reply, and I'll add it! note: please take this grouping with a pinch of salt, also note that apple osx/ios and android aren't listed either while they could be added.

Let old, outdated, canceled threads die out guys, no point replying to it as it will bump the thread back up. Now we have to lock them and no one can reply to it with any useful information when required. Locked

Then stop replying! x_x

Oh c'mon CB. Apart from a popular product you didn't have anything. The technical side of the product was a disaster, your reputation couldn't be any worse, and I could go on for quite a while. SRB started out with mcc, and learned from that and quickly raised above the levels of your code. It took him a couple of months to produce patches where everyone had to wait on for years? So I guess it's all about how you want too look at things ...

Removed some posts that are were totally unnecessary.. keep it on the discussion or the topic gets locked. Changing your font to something where every 16 year old girl would be jealous of, is not done either...

Great job on the quick bug fix!

@arson Where do I say that a person that uses an IM client will scam you? I think you're reading more than what I posted. We're not forbidding anyone anything but to make these ridiculous posts.. and that's it. If you wish to keep in touch with your clients via an IM, please do. I do it too, but there is a huge difference between keeping in touch with someone and adding 10 random persons to msn for a small job where you'll pick one in the hopes they'll do what they say they do. It's somewhat a risky and shady business. I'm not going into detail once more, I think I have made my point clear in my previous posts. You're still free to ask any questions you might have regarding this topic. So please, read the topic through clearly before making a post that's totally unrelated to the issue.
-
Arson, please don't scavenge for threads so old like this ... I'm quite sure the OP would have bumped it up or started a new thread. Locked.

definitely not higher, unless you want an exclusive and expensive mod? :-P
-
Probably not a lot, I just need to get some motivation together and then it should be done rather soon, probably somewhere during the weekend I suppose :)
-
Well while ruler makes a valid point, you could say that there still is some space left. I mean, there are loads of car brands a person can chose, yet they don't all chose for the same one. Is he too late to jump on the big ship, he probably is. But for the new projects it might stand a chance against the others. Every engine will have it's pro's and it cons, just make it unique and your chances will be higher. nonetheless, less talking, more programming ;)
-
Just because it isn't made in mccodes doesn't mean I can't create for mcc/nwe/ezrpg/grpg ;) I just said I liked the idea and might think about creating such mod.
-
Biohazard, you've made 2 posts on this thread and how are they of any value of to the thread? You're just pointing and laughing ... just don't, I'd rather have that you don't post then. These threads are supposed to help people out, and try to get some mature discussion going again. But apparently that is a very hard thing for many of us.

and this is related to the OP how? You're a 'dawg' too or what? @OP If he can add an 1minute timestamp, I wonder why he can't add a 5 min or day timestamp as it is exactly the same, just a different calculation.
-
That's not a bad idea, sounds like a fun mod honestly, one that I haven't seen, and one that has great potential! Maybe I should make a mcc mod once more :o
-
Well correct me if I'm wrong, but isn't PDO a database wrapper on the framework/php level where I suggested an database wrapper on the application layer? Both will have their advantages, to me it doesn't matter that much as I was simply providing an explanation of what I meant.

And what should this app be doing? I'm interested, but I have my doubts too.. To be honest, if you have a smartphone you have a browser and internet as well. And if you have internet you could just connect to the site right away? But I don't see how you can make a correct post via an app for a smartphone, unless you are very patient and wish to make the effort. I'd be so much easier using a browser. But please go on, I'm curious to your thoughts about this.
