  1. As you can see if you live in whats considered not important parts of the UK the tech is as old as the hills and we aint getting any upgrades anytime soon!
  2. Didnt test in other browsers. The loader is a bit off. Went to 116% in chrome. It tries to work in IE9 in IE8 compatibility mode but gets stuck loading at -6%
  3. Yeah pretty good stuff. If you start at the bottom and work your way up you can see just how much improvement in design has been made.
  4. You sure you wanna dive into a php / mysql game if you do not know even basic html? I would highly recommend that you stop there. Now go have a look at this post http://makewebgames.io/content.php/151-Helpful-Links Your going to need to do a big learning curve before you continue.
  5. To be honest I do not want to see a v3 well not from the current owners. It will just be like the previous versions where they promise a lot then sit watching football whilst the community sorts out the mess they created.
  6. The thing about posts like this is that you fail to provide much info. You post and stating your website in under maintenance. Why bother? could you have not waited until your site was ready? Stating your offering 50/yr means nothing. No further details? You then do the same for the webhosting. As for your testing against the other big hosts. I do not see how you have done such testing. How long has your server been up? how much experience do you have in server management? To be honest if your offering plans that cheap then your more than likely doing the following. Have a very cheap server which will not be able to take many clients. Are going to oversell the above which will make it slow and useless for everyone.
  7. Funky very old skool well done.

Thats the base fee plus the percentage of 4.3% I believe last time I looked.
  10. Exactly. Plus also look at the average game in the android app store they are either free or less than $3. I think you really need to re-think this.

Your gonna lose money. Google and Amazon have the highest rates for payments.
  12. I dont see anything like that Danny on the facebook platform policy page. Where did you get that info? I did read that if you are using fb connect then any payments is solely restricted to facebook credits and you cannot use any other payment method. Also facebook credits is not available on IOS. So you would be able to use paypal but it has to go through the facebook system. However I dont see how this is worth the money your asking for. People play my game on their Iphone and Android phone without it needing to be an app. Apps are useful for localized playing you download the game and thats the entire thing (until an update is released). I dont see this working or being useful as an app.
  13. Indeed and the game will lack focus without a well thought out story line and game content to go with it. Your thinking in the wrong direction. When the game gets big ill invest into it. Cant really see it getting big with that frame of mind. People will take one look decide xxx mafia game is better and not bother.
  14. Wouldnt worry about the copyright unless your going to do something original, special and outstanding game content wise then it will be like all the other thousands of mafia games and will not be successful.
  15. There is numerous gateways you can use. Look at all the ecom software that have modules for gateways! All use the providers API which when you look at the info is pretty simple to use. I use and have used, 2checkout, paypal, moneybookers, nochex, onebip (bad), daopay. All on my game and all with auto credit/return from the site. At present I use Dave's cart mod with a 2checkout gateway I wrote myself and the paypal module that was included. Direct to bank is rarely supported. I think there is only a few companies that allow such and the time delays on it due to security restrictions does not make it worth while.

  17. Of which they can revoke at anytime if your not using it for such....has been known to happen and all your sites go fubar!
  18. Most registrars dropped the requirement of having two IP's in different blocks a long time ago as it was just not possible to keep the requirement due to the shortage of IP's Technically 1 ip and 1 nameserver is enough for domain resolution. The reason why you are asked to specify two nameservers is for redundancy even if they are just pointing to the same server and on the same subnet. However if you think about it. Unless your going to run a outside DNS service then all your IP's and DNS is going to resolve to the server. So if anything goes wrong with that server then both nameservers would be down anyway!! You can create as many nameservers as you wish and share the 1 IP. Bearing in mind what ive mentioned above your much better using your registrars dns as it would provide much better redundancy. Or a round robin service.
  19. You shouldnt get allocated them if you say its for dns. There is no reason why you need them for that.
  20. IP use is restricted to certain requirements if you dont know what they are you dont need them. Plus its pretty easy to share IP's for resellers.

I use paypal, 2checkout and until recently daopay for mobile payments. The mobile payment was not a really big seller on my games so in the end found no need for it. 2checkout will insist that you change any mention of the word donate or donation. Its not allowed or at least it wasnt when I went through the app process. Also they are very strict on games with illegal content or named after a registered entity. So if your planning on having a naruto game with naruto mentioned in the domain name then chances are they will not accept it. The good thing with 2checkout though is they accept from pretty much every country and any amount. Unlike other payment providers who restrict the country of origin and have a cap on the amount a player can spend per transaction.
  22. I run the ex6 and 8 servers. Xeon based with ECC ram which provides better stability. The one thing I do like about them is when they introduce new server lines and therefore adjust the pricing they give you options for your current server to either upgrade or reduce the amount your paying. Ive been with a lot of dc's/server companies and not one of them has ever done such a thing.
  23. Price I would disagree with. I dont think you can get the same server spec for the same price in most of the US datacenters. The console does what its supposed to. Not sure if they console for za is the same as they use at the de but it does what you need it to. Reboots, OS installs, Backups, DNS, monitoring, ips including ipv6. At the de 1TB is fair use but after the first 1000 if you do not pay for the port they restrict it down to a 10mb port. The support did for awhile treat me like an idiot. But after teaching them a few things then the respect is now in place :D

Was awhile ago but ya know once bitten..... Payout is monthly or it was when i tried it.
  25. Hosted at www.hetzner.de which is quite a good dc. Its where I have my own servers. Fail to see how you can offer accounts with 1000GB bandwidth though without mentioning the port restriction ;)
