microsocket Posted September 25, 2015 Posted September 25, 2015 I have many years under my belt in various different areas and techniques but there is one thing that is bugging me and wondered if the people on these boards had any opinions ? Are you as good at sports and as popular with people in your age group as me. Thoughts on this welcomed. Quote
IllegalPigeon Posted September 25, 2015 Posted September 25, 2015 I'm really popular within my age group but I'm not very good at sports. I try to do sports whenever I can, apart from when people in my age group are doing sports because they might see how bad I am and then I won't be as popular with people in my age group. Quote
microsocket Posted September 25, 2015 Author Posted September 25, 2015 I feel your pain at being ashamed to indulge in the 'sports' due to losing your popularity placement within your age group. Quote
SRB Posted September 26, 2015 Posted September 26, 2015 Can we define code sprints as sports. The sprint part of the naming is confusing me! Quote
Sim Posted September 26, 2015 Posted September 26, 2015 When I was a teenager. Life was pretty strange. I was one of the best in my school at sports. Stopped playing during 9th grade. Started dressing excentric (black) and a bunch of outcast followed so "popular" I guess. Was it good? At the time no. Today I look at it as a lesson. I was already in the top %5 of smartest people in my grade(prob top 2-3%). I was #1 coder in school though. Very few people was coding in my school back in the day (17yrs ago). I ended up dropping out in 12th grade due to trouble with drugs, fighting and the law. Quote
Coly010 Posted September 27, 2015 Posted September 27, 2015 I'm popular enough amongst my age group in my location of Northern Ireland. Everyone generally thinks I'm a really nice person and a lot of people ask me to come out with them and ask me to come to parties etc. As for sports, I used to play golf and football (soccer) regularly. I was great at soccer, not so good at golf, but I enjoyed it. I'm getting back into soccer after two years out. I'm not as fit as I used to be, but I can still sprint the pitch with the ball at my feet mighty fine. Quote
~Rob0t Posted September 28, 2015 Posted September 28, 2015 ITT: People blow their own whistle, people out of the loop, people circlejerking I don't play sports... Here's a more accurate representation of what I'm trying to say. Quote
