DopeboyGFX Posted November 15, 2013 Posted November 15, 2013 Hey MWG, I've been thinking about designing a flat template for text based games. Seems like a bad idea but I just wanted to experimenting and share with you guys. Feedback is important so please feel free. Good Day! Quote
KyleMassacre Posted November 16, 2013 Posted November 16, 2013 I'm not fond of this one at all. Maybe its just the scale but it seems like the content area is too small and the main menu is too wide Quote
DopeboyGFX Posted November 16, 2013 Author Posted November 16, 2013 Yes I agree with you on the scaling but does the idea of a flat design sound good ? - - - Updated - - - Or look good ? Quote
KyleMassacre Posted November 16, 2013 Posted November 16, 2013 for a real text based game I think so but I haven't really seen any old school games like that. most games these days use graphics in a lot of the modules so it would look a little weird to have awesome ingame images and a crap flat layout Quote
DopeboyGFX Posted November 16, 2013 Author Posted November 16, 2013 LOL You do prove a point. I didn't think of that. Quote
Dragon Blade Posted November 16, 2013 Posted November 16, 2013 You can make a template like that with css only :D But I like it, if you could change colors...My opinion I dont like green XD Quote
DopeboyGFX Posted November 16, 2013 Author Posted November 16, 2013 I can change the colors as its in PSD. Thanks for the feedback. Quote

This one however really doesn't work. You need to work on your colour scheme DopeboyGFX, as mentioned the scale of things could use some work too. Quote
DopeboyGFX Posted November 16, 2013 Author Posted November 16, 2013 Thank you Djkanna. I was thinking it over and yes you're right. It can work with a flat design. I know the color scheme doesn't work but when I was designing I just used random colors. This could be changed. Quote

Also this is of a similar colour scheme to the one you've chosen, maybe it'll help you with designing your page elements. :) Quote
DopeboyGFX Posted November 16, 2013 Author Posted November 16, 2013 Thanks :D This will help. I was using http://colorschemedesigner.com/ Quote
Djkanna Posted November 16, 2013 Posted November 16, 2013 That's useful too. 0 to 255 is incredibly helpful also. :) Quote
Dave Posted November 17, 2013 Posted November 17, 2013 I think your design here would greatly benefit from being on a grid structure. It'll also make it a lot easier to snap into a responsive template. I personally like http://960.gs/ Quote
DopeboyGFX Posted November 17, 2013 Author Posted November 17, 2013 Thanks guys. I will look into this Dave. Quote
