Zettieee
So, for a long time i've been looking for a Trading Card Game engine. the ones i've come across don't offer anything worth using(buggy, out dated, etc) Just wondering if anyone has a TCG project or know of one? If not is anyone interested in making a TCG engine? :) Edit: yesterday/last night I was writing up some very basic rule set for this project, thought i might aswell post them up for you guys to have a read. *Yes my spelling and grammar is shocking. Please point out if they is a spelling or grammar error, thanks* -------------TCG Engine v0.1 Rule Set-------------- 1.Round 2.Cards 3.Table 4.Dice 5.Castle Walls 6.Tokens 7.Decks 8.Dead Zone 9.Hand 10.Ways to win --------------------------------------------------- ~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~1:Rounds~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~ At the start of a match, a dice is rolled. Whoever gets the highest number goes first. You may put down upto 2 "active" cards per round. At the start of your round you may draw upto 4 cards. At the end of your round you may place an additional card of type: Spell. Spell cards can be activated only in your turn. ~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~2:cards~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~ 2a Card Type: Active, Spell, Force and Crown. 2b Active Cards: Active cards are the main cards you will use. They have two stats: ATK/DEF. When you have an active card on the table, you may attack your enemys card. If your stats are greater you defeat thier card. 2c spell Cards: Spell cards can enhance your active cards ATK/DEF or increase your Castle Walls resistance. Spell cards can be used in your turn only. Spell cards will remain on the table for 2 rounds, unless your enemy sacrifices a card with 2 tokens per spell he wishes to remove. 2d Force Cards: Force cards can not be put on the table. They are played directly from your hand. Force cards have only 2 effects: Remove, Gain. Force Card Remove will remove your enemys cards from hand into the Dead zone. Force Card Gain will draw cards from the Deck and let you place 1 additional active card. 2e Crown Cards: Crown cards are activated as soon as a match starts and will remain in play untill the match is over. Your Crown Card: Castle Walls will have a set number of Hit Points(HP) And a Resistance Stats(RS). Resistance is how much ATK is blocks if your enemy attacks your walls. Your walls can only be attacked if you have No Active cards in play. ~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~3:Table~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~ ****Image will go here**** Mockup layout: http://oi49.tinypic.com/2ltqzxh.jpg ~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~4:Dice~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~ Dice are used to see who goes first in the match. (for the moment). ~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~5:Catle Walls~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~ Castle Walls as stated above (2e) are active all the way through a match. The maximum HP of your castle card will almost alway be the same as your enemys. The RS of your castle walls can change depending what spell card is in play. If your enemy attacks your walls your HP will go down. When your HP reaches Zero (0) you loose. If you get your enemys HP to Zero (0) you win. ~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~6:Tokens~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~ Each play has 15 ATK Tokens and 15 DEF tokens per match. Some actions ie: Destroying spell cards, adding bonus ATK/DEF. Require Tokens as sacrifce. Tokens can only be added within your turn. Once a token is added to the card, they will remain with the card even inside the Dead Zone. Tokens can not be added to Castle Cards. The base bonus of 1 token is 2 ATK or DEF. ~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~7:Deck~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~ Your Deck will have 41 cards. Your deck must have only 1 Castle Walls card. Your deck must contain atleast 25 Active cards. Your deck must have a minimum of 5 Spell Cards. ~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~8:Dead Zone~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~ The Dead zone is where used or deafeted cards go. Cards inside the Dead Zone can't be used again. ~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~9:Hand~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~ You can have a maximum of 8 cards in your hand. Unessl, you have used a force card gain. You may draw only 4 cards per round from your deck to your hand. You can place your cards into the Dead Zone directly from your hand. ~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~10:Ways to win~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~ 10a: Reduce your enemys HP to Zero. 10b: Your enemy has no more cards in his deck or hand. 10c: Your enemy forfeits the matchs. Let me know what you think. Thanks Edited October 18, 2012 by Zettieee

Aventro
What kind of features would a TCG engine hold?
Zettieee
My old msn got hijacked. my new msn is contact+orpgcreator.com Added. What kind of features would a TCG engine hold? Ability to trade, collect, cards, aswell as play *a* game. Store, show, create cards from the browser. Spectate live matches/games. really they are too many to list at this early hour ^.^
a_bertrand
Well not something easy to create if you want to make live PvP card games. Doable but not easy.
Zettieee
I just did a semi check list... I'm guessing around 12 months work... Maybe I'll take a 2nd look at Sandscape(url: http://sourceforge.net/projects/sandscape/) sandscape seems to offer pretty much what I was looking to do. *EDIT* I have the script up and running (*Without cards/decks.*) But the actual system works great. Features I've found working and usable: -Admin- Card Creation Deck Creation Dice Creation And more. -Player- Login/register Lobby - wait for matchs, creaet a match Lobby chat Profile View match's- Not in real time. Text document. This is actually a really nice system after some pain of installing :) Edited October 17, 2012 by Zettieee
a_bertrand
Then why not use it?
Zettieee
I'm testing it now. Maybe I will :) Would you by any chance do freelance coding? If yes could you pm me @A_B
a_bertrand
Currently I don't have any time for freelance coding. Too much of my "free time" is taken by the NWE engine.

Alright. :) So after looking around. I decided to go ahead and start work on my own TCG engine/game. If anyone is interested let me know. Dominion
Sounds somewhat interesting, but one thing I would say it make sure the card game you are going to use on the main site has its rules and guidelines setup before going into the program. Assuming your using one already going ensure there are not legal issues in the way of such a website.

The rule set I've been working on, on and off for 2 weeks. I have, however taking ideas from many different games (card games and RPG's) would this be considered copyright infringement? If so as I said ensure it's ready with rules before starting anything on a computer. In other words; plan everything out. Good luck.
