konk353535 Posted June 14, 2010 Posted June 14, 2010 Just wondering if anyone has started a game recently and been making a few dimes or has a game and is still making some money wanna know because keep investing more money into me game and want to know that will probs make me money back... thanks heaps Quote
furn355 Posted June 14, 2010 Posted June 14, 2010 The question you ask is very broad. The simple answer there is money to be made from anything as long as you put the time and effort into it ( A substantial cash injection also works wonders). You need to move away from the mccodes script itself and start by getting a unique layout, once you have something different to offer to the hundreds of other websites that are present on this forum you can then begin your advertising. If you hit the right areas you will be able to make money. Quote
Djkanna Posted June 14, 2010 Posted June 14, 2010 Um, off course like Furn said there's money to be made in anything, if you're unique with your game and advertise well I would say there's a good chance you'll be making some amount of money however I seriously doubt it would be a constant amount maybe you'll get $20 one month then not get anything else for the next three. The idea is to be creative and unique :) Quote
Cronus Posted June 14, 2010 Posted June 14, 2010 There is still tons of money in MCCodes games. I believe DJKanna's amount of $20/month is VERY VERY low, according to my own experiences. Just make your game somewhat unique and be interactive with your players. But remember, you can't just get a small player base and live off of it, make sure you are constantly gaining new players. Spudinski Posted June 14, 2010 Posted June 14, 2010 I've spoke to some guy who owns and operates a game running on MCCodes. He said that he brings in anywhere from 1.5k to about 2k a month. It depends on how you promote a website IMHO. Quote
konk353535 Posted June 15, 2010 Author Posted June 15, 2010 kk thanks heaps i guess me game is unique its just maybe to unique players must fight for a pair of nuclear plans and hold them for 4 days while they are constructed and if they manage this they win im hoping and gonna edit the game so it takes around 8 months for the game to finish do you think this will attract players there is game like travian that is similiar where you have to get a world wonder and contruct it in 4 days if this happens a server restart occuirs im also planning on putting the winners clan in a hall of fame on the main page of my website do you think this game will attract players if setup properly? ColdBlooded Posted June 15, 2010 Posted June 15, 2010 According to my marketing research in game dev projects, do this: Duplicate what big games have to offer (torn, Joe Cheds game) and market it well. Ads, word of mouth etc.. Old games like that, many players get pissed off at staff and become very crowded with unfriendly community. Trust me, players would leave to make a fresh start with an identical game. You'll pull players off bigshot games like that with ease. No need to have state of the art layouts etc.. Just a flow on simple navigational game. Quote
SHAD Posted June 15, 2010 Posted June 15, 2010 The key to having a sucessful game is spend at the start invest you time in the game. And then sit down with a notepad and write down any crazy ideas that come in to your heade and somehow blend then in your game. Advertise on facebook and even 100 active users is a result of a successs Quote
Jordan Palmer Posted June 15, 2010 Posted June 15, 2010 ColdBlooded I think you're wrong, If you have IDENTICAL games all you're doing is copying as more games are coming to the internet more people are looking for uniqueness, I will say having fancy layouts doesn't help you at all, I know it seems good idea, but spending big money on a layout usually ends up bad, I mean look at TC for god sake. Djkanna Posted June 15, 2010 Posted June 15, 2010 Just to make it clear, my $20 a month was an example of how you can get some money flowing in one month and not get any for another few months it wasn't an exact figure or anything :) Quote
oxidati0n Posted June 23, 2010 Posted June 23, 2010 It entirely depends on the specifics of your market, if you make yet another Torn City you'll end up competing with some of their players and I don't think that is a concept that is worth doing. Why? They don't want to play something they already have done for ages. They want the same concept but not the same look and feel, because if they are playing another game they want that little sense of appeal, whether it's a feature or a design that will help them come to your game instead. That is the key. Â Then again, players like competition while also having a good insight to being the top. There is many key factors, and making it as interesting as possible without being stupid is possible, might be hard but it varies from different industries and the more you tailor it to a fair and unbiased game the better you will get in revenue. Â Copying Torn City is like trying to make another Twitter. It's already been done and milked and all you're doing is picking up a odd couple of the remainders who don't use the bigger competitor. Unless you have something so brilliant it will swift all your competitors customers away, it does seem kind of pointless unless you are desperate for a couple of bucks, but a large amount of time, the people are in it for the long run. NarutoPRG.com Posted June 23, 2010 Posted June 23, 2010 Dot on Bill. Think.. It depends on how much time you are willing to put in to your game, and adding features that haven't be made before, or even better version. I'm not talking 2 hours a week. I'm talking around 20-32 hours. If you bought MCC V2 and set it up. Not gonna' make money. If you worked on it, and make it something different. Not just another game. Then you will make money. Also, you will have to update your game now and then. For the oldies. :) Quote
Curt Posted June 23, 2010 Posted June 23, 2010 I will have to say I believe there is still lots of money to be made with mccode based games. Copying a game completely is bad but creating a feature similar to something cool you have seen in another game is not always bad...I have done this myself on a few occasions...i see a nice feature in a game and i say hey this would make my game better...so i create a similar feature for my game. Uniqueness is a must as mentioned below and this will keep experienced/new players interested and active...give the players plenty of things to do, even if there in jail or the hospital give them things they can do to keep them interested while waiting it out..lol Also as mentioned below you will have to put a lot of time and effort into a game to begin making profits. Interaction with players and not ignoring them is a huge plus. also make frequent updates to your game if its possible. Whether its a minor display change or a huge new feature, you players will enjoy the fact that you want to make your game better. When ever an bug comes up get it fixed as quickly as you can, that will also keep the players happy...lol I would also like to add that if you want to own a game its a MUST that you have some coding experience. Most games fail because the lack of coding experience brought within the game. You can only skate by with so much :P...lol hope ive been a little helpful to ya Cheers Quote
