srachit Posted February 17, 2010 Posted February 17, 2010 Hello my friends, I have a few questions about copyright and wanted to know if anyone could plz answer them for me :) My questions are: 1) For a template can I google images and use them or is that illegal? 2) Is it illegal to buy a custom template and resell it later? Thats all for now :) One another question not related to this: 1) What software do people use to make digital art, illustrator or fireworks? And what is fireworks generally used for? Quote
Zero-Affect Posted February 17, 2010 Posted February 17, 2010 2) Is it illegal to buy a custom template and resell it later? Legally i believe you buy a licence so you can sell your version of the licence but you then can't use it any more, selling it multiple times will obviously be illegal but if you have reseller rights im sure your fine. I would really consult a lawyer though. Using images off google well depends i'd say no don't use them just to be safe. Quote
Dayo Posted February 17, 2010 Posted February 17, 2010 1) For a template can I google images and use them or is that illegal? if the image is copyrighted and you poassit off as your own yes it it you may be able to ask premision to use it 2) Is it illegal to buy a custom template and resell it later? if you ask the seller they may let you sell it on they might say you have to refer to them when selling Quote
srachit Posted February 17, 2010 Author Posted February 17, 2010 kk...............can I use brushes which has lets say pics of people from movies for my template? Quote
Analog Posted February 17, 2010 Posted February 17, 2010 It depends on what you mean as a custom template... If its something you have custom designed by someone, IMO its yours to do what you wish with. Now if its one you purchase from a template website, then it depends on what the Terms of Use are. Quote
a_bertrand Posted February 18, 2010 Posted February 18, 2010 No, if somebody did something for you, the copyrights are still owned by this person, unless he/she work for you as co-worker which implies you have some sort of company and the copyrights are then owned by this company. So generally if you purchase a custom work, the copyrights are owned by the designer and he/she could either let you resell it or not. So all depends on the contract / agreement you have. Quote
Guest Null Posted February 24, 2010 Posted February 24, 2010 Depends. If the author(Which make sure who made them) is giving the brushes away on sites like DeviantART or Brusheezy or something i believe you can. As for images, i dunno. Quote
