I've decided to post this here, mainly because I am frustrated with several things I see on CE. I wanted to voice a complaint against the community, and allow the members who disagree to give their view points as well.

I am sick of reading a tun of negative, arrogant posts challenging the modifications that some of the coders here create. Every single mod that I've posted on this site has faced some form of challenge, or had some ignorant comments on why a player wouldn't use the mod in them.

The thread should just be for bugs and props in my opinion. A lot of the negative press you give people isn't even merit base. Posts saying "This is a stupid idea, I would never use this in my game." or "Why would anyone want this in their game...yada yada", are not needed. Frankly, I don't want to read why you don't need this in your game...because your game might have an entirely different feel/goal that what my game offers. What may be stupid and worthless to you, might be amazing or perfect for someone else.

If you don't like a persons mod, just move along. Its highly ignorant to take the time and flame or even comment childishly on a persons posts. If your in that much of a need for a pat on the back, then reach around and give yourself one...but please don't take up space by being a jerkoff and insulting someones work.

Next, when a person is selling a mod...I don't believe you should have ANYONE in there talking down about it. If you feel the price is WAY too high, or the mod is stupid...well leave it alone. Prices will fall if they cannot move the product, and it'll become free if you cannot move it.

When you take the time to voice your personal distaste for a mod in that persons thread, it deters business away from that player. Its like walking into the person's store and screaming "DONT BUY THIS PRODUCT." Think about it, how would YOU honestly feel if someone logged onto your game and started bashing the hell out of it on your forums. or posting on your register page that your game is retarded, a waste of time, and shouldn't be played. You would be pissed, and that's exactly what you are doing to some of these people who are trying to make a buck.

Its not your position to give away someones code either. who cares if you know how its done...but to openly state "this is nothing but yada yada" will once again deter business away from someone. There have been many times that I didn't know how to do something, and was ready to buy a persons code, until I read those words, and did something myself. If you know how to code something yourself, then go ahead! If its really super simple, the average or hell the lesser experienced coder can recreate them. Shut the hell up, and go pat yourself on the back once again.

I've seen very little respect for another persons work here. I understand that alot of you are young, but damn...youth isn't an excuse. Be mature, and quit trying to put down other coders. Most of us come to CE because we ARE new at this, yet we LOVE IT. I haven't had so much fun doing something since I was a kid, and I'm really dreading the fact that I have to start teaching and researching next year...hell I might even quit and attend school to learn Computer Engineering. That aside, this is a great hobby right now, but I am still new. I understand that many of you are "experts" or "really good", but if you are so good, note that this site is full of beginners who are trying to crack into coding.

You can't belittle them, and insult them because they don't understand everything like you do...at one point you didn't know jack squat about coding, and you needed and got help. You probably created mickey mouse mods and programs too...instead of dissing and hurting that person, we need to give them props and show them how to be better.

In close, this non-sense needs to stop. This community needs to come together and quit fighting each other over stupid crap. From now on, if you don't like something that someone did...respect their thread and don't respond to it. If you think a mod is over priced, let time be the judge of that...but quit deterring business away from coders, and quit belittling their free mods as well.

Ok, I agree with you there. I should have been more clear. I actually did that al ot when I first started...asking the dumb questions, until I learned to search the internet.

I was referring to the people that actually create an application or a code of their own. Requesting help is different :)

Re: Usless comments in threads need to go bye bye

First, age doesn't make you mature...if you act like a child, you are a child. As Iamwicked states, I would honestly think he's older than you because he at the age of 14-16 knows how to show others respect.

second, you have a freedom of speech, but in a regular society, you should also have a freedom to get your head busted. I will once again restate in my post that you are having an effect on that person's business. If you don't want to pay 60 bucks for something, don't pay. Do you honestly go into a department store, see something is over priced, and tell other customers NOT to buy that shirt for 60 bucks because its nothing but a t-shirt? Go try that, and see if you don't get roughed up.

Thirdly, you said stuff about me in that thread, and you don't know me. So please, don't be a Hypocrite.

In a simple way the freedom of speech is limited! You have to freedom of speech were you work normally but there is something called manners? Ever heard of them.... and i swear that if you make false aligations against someones business they can sue you :S (No idea if this is true saw it on some program)

Re: Usless comments in threads need to go bye bye

In common law jurisdictions, slander refers to a malicious, false and defamatory spoken statement or report, while libel refers to any other form of communication such as written words or images. Most jurisdictions allow legal actions, civil and/or criminal, to deter various kinds of defamation and retaliate against groundless criticism. Related to defamation is public disclosure of private facts, which arises where one person reveals information that is not of public concern, and the release of which would offend a reasonable person. Or an untruthful oath. (wikipedia "Defamation")

Your right wicked, you can get sued for making statements against a company, right or wrong. Its not your place to give groundless criticism, or to attack a product, that you have never owned or are in competition with.

Its why you never see a Coke commercial, in which they say "pepsi sucks" or a beer commercial in which they use another products name and openly blast it.

Re: Usless comments in threads need to go bye bye

lol seriously take a chill pill

Einey, the CE forums have always been like this people actually have started to get use to it, new comers don't like it simply because most of them haven't seen so many people arguing about some very ridiculous things

people have left the forum because of this but the CE Forum curse has always lived, some say they are going to leave but just don't because they just want to catch some attention, some leave and come back days, weeks, months and even years later.

a handful amount of people have left this forum because of this same reason (bad comments in threads), yet some of those who argue about this don't remember that they once were the same immature person that they don't like today.

i don't know everyone on this forum but i tend to look at all the actions everyone makes, you get use to what happens on CE.

as much as i like to say one day that the CE Forum will become a nice and "friendly" environment, we all know it won't

this is my opinion, it might even get loads of people to argue about it but this is a forum which will always have users that want to argue about every little mistake

Re: Usless comments in threads need to go bye bye

US allows this on commercials, Europe not

I would also like to see a community with 15k members that is polite and friendly in every post/topic.

You can find that on communities with 20 top 100 registered members but not on larger communities.

And surprisingly, on forum communities topics with hate/bad replies get always the most attention. It's actually THE best marketing strategy as topic starter gets more clicks than a topic with friendly unnoticed replies.

*joins cronus*

In regards to mdshare's post.

Consider getting some more moderators, then you can actually make this forum a pleasant place to be.

Not sure how many you already have, but I can't imagine its much more than 5 or so. That's 1 moderator for every 3,000 members. Would you hire one babysitter to watch 3,000 kids?

A forum with 15k members can be just as clean and pleasant as a forum with 100 members.

Big difference between CE members and kids.

A solution to all our problems would be put Cronus in a cage, then he can stop touching everyone and the world would live in peace and harmony.

Re: Usless comments in threads need to go bye bye

If I stopped touching everyone, everyone would go into deep depression.

We're better off not messing up the way things work around here.

Oh, and you spelled "Useless" wrong.

Re: Usless comments in threads need to go bye bye

You talking to me? I can't see where I used "useless" lol. Maybe you touching people is a good thing, or is it?..
