miyevan Posted January 30 Posted January 30 Hi, I have been working on several mini games in the past but never completed any due to the fear of failure. I have been watching this forum for quite some time and I saw the majority of the games being mafia themed games. Is there a reason why this genre is popular and why so many are copies of each other? I was thinking of making a proper mafia game with role playing (character class), map domination, multiplayer gang fights, proper 1 v 1 fights, etc. I have seen many talented people around yet no one came with this yet and I wonder why? Why is everyone following the same boring pattern? Miyevan out. Quote
Uridium Posted January 31 Posted January 31 Id like to see a game thats outside the box there must be thousands of Mafia styled games around.. few ideas Horse Racing = instead of playing as the jockey play as the horse from its point of view 18th Century London = Live the life of a common peasant and bring down the rich 18th Century Ship Builder = create your game to have players create ships each user has a task.. the list is endless once you get passed Mafia styled games Quote
miyevan Posted January 31 Author Posted January 31 I mean I will probably do something like jobs and 1v1 fights for the start and add multiplayer modes too such as poker, building attacks / fights. I have something in mind ... let's hope it works. 1 Quote
Mmomakers Posted Friday at 04:04 PM Posted Friday at 04:04 PM why not create a life game instead of mafia bigger audience Quote
peterisgb Posted Monday at 02:22 PM Posted Monday at 02:22 PM I've done a few games myself, but never mafia themed, More space/sci-fy mainly. i don't even know enough about mafia stuff to know where to start. Quote
big_mike Posted Monday at 07:04 PM Posted Monday at 07:04 PM Im building a survival based game, I used to build mafia games as its where i started but i decided to move to something I really had a passion on which is zombie/survival games such as DayZ, Green hell, The Forest etc so building a text based version has always been something I've wanted to do.
