HITMAN 17 Posted February 9, 2008 Posted February 9, 2008 i love mccodes my favourite version is version 2 Quote
YoungGold Posted February 9, 2008 Posted February 9, 2008 Re: who likes mccodes? i like mccode for these reasons It is something to learn from great example to practise securing files LOL Yes it is rubbishly designed and created BUT...i dont know about you but it encouraged me to get into graphics and website design to improve it it's a starting platform you have to start somewhere why go out and spend a fortune on a proper game engine for expensive have no clue what to do and not have to do anything to it to make it better. yes it sounds good but what will you learn from this...with mccodes its crap but you learn the more you play with it and mess with the code..i could add <font color='blue'>HELLO</font> and it would be a 10% improvemnent in my mind so if you think about it...you ahve an mccode v1 game for 2 years everyday you coded adn re-coded a little bit..at the end of say 2 years you would have re-coded the whole thing and it will be an awesome engine if done correctly. YoungGold Posted February 9, 2008 Posted February 9, 2008 Re: who likes mccodes? Mccodes = shit worst programming ever seen in any script lets hope they improve in mc 3. agreed...thats why i have mccodes and re-code it all lol Quote
Aqua Posted February 9, 2008 Posted February 9, 2008 Re: who likes mccodes? Well if you think about it, half of the members of CE would not be here if it wasnt for Dabomstew and Colblooded. DBS/MC Code is very poorly coded, has many bugs and errors, however it is a base start up code, and i think we all agree that most of us would use a MC code to start up a new game. MC Codes is very easy to edit, it is not complex hence why i think many use it for their projects. There is no proof that Dabomstew and Coldblooded actually did make DBS codes from scratch, afterall they claimed copyright which they did not ever have. I personally think MC Codes is a decent set of scripts for the price we are buying it, other big scripts will cost way more. For around $100 dollarsa MC codes is totally worth the buy, however i kind of dislike the codes more because of the management of them, Dabomstew and Coldblooded could not make it worse, anybody can porbably get some MC Scripts very easily for free. Anyway i guess the question is more about the codes than the actuall personal issues i myself have with Dabomstew and ColdBlooded. Personally i prefer the V1 version, easy to costumize in the way you would like it, i would much rather use MC V1 as a base for coding an original game. Some stuff i like about MC Codes; It is a great script to work on and develop, it is more of a learning project than anything to be honest MC/DBS Codes is a great 'Base Code' to have, it functions, and is very easily changes and costumized therefor you can change the subjects/topics/purposes of the game It is worth the money, it is fully functional, and it is a bargain considering the price. Afterall many other game engines developed by serious companies will cost thousands I always will think MC/DBS codes has shit coding within it, but for the price it was selling at, i do think it was worth to buy it. Especially if you are learning to code, I do respect MC/DBS codes, because i learnt PHP mainly through it, the actuall engine inspired me to go on and learn, and i would like to think i am a decent programmer now. I prefer V1 to V2, as i said V1 is much easily more costumized, and i believe it has more potentiol. Overall Opinion of mine would be that MC codes is decent for the price they were selling at, decent code to start learning PHP/SQL from. It has alot of bugs and needs to be devloped alot, totally different so the players have some new concepts, but it does have potentiol... So i guess i do like it in a way... *I think whatever i said above makes sense :-P ¬LK Quote

Case in point: I'm a php/mySQL n00bie. I bought version 2 only a week ago, with using it to learn php/mySQL as part of the reason, along with making a game, and today I posted my first mod that makes some nice changes to the game!! Quote

Haunted Dawg Posted March 16, 2008 Posted March 16, 2008 Re: who likes mccodes? Hello. I personally prefer v2 as it has a nice layout and such. I would use v2 befor v1 because v1 has to little things and is to much to edit. My overview: I hope that v3 comes out better and the security will be beter. I am helping coldblooded atm with some security and some of my scripts. I will be giving him my whorehouses mod and my shoutbox as he said he would give me a free v2 licence for it. I expect them to have atleast zend optimization on there codes as it would be best for us. Thanks Quote
gawduranidiot Posted March 16, 2008 Posted March 16, 2008 Re: who likes mccodes? i didnt like it when i first installed the script because it was so buggy but i fixed all of the bugs i have found so far and i like it now Quote
criminalcombatrpg Posted May 9, 2008 Posted May 9, 2008 Re: who likes mccodes? My opinion is that MC Codes has both it's ups and it's downs. I think that before everyone gets in here that we both all get our facts straight. The main problem really in MC Codes is what YoungGold has stated is the fact that there are so manny issues with the product, and again a user who stated that Dabomstew and ColdBlooded never really got copyright so technically it's released under the GPL (General Public Licence). My two cents is this: If MC Codes encrypted their files, and made it require a license key along with Zend Optimizer for MC Codes 3.0 then everyone will have to PAY. However, The downside is this are they willing to invest their time and effort in truly creating a script that not only runs efficiently but is secure aswell and free from older bugs such as Forums Injection, Crystal Exploit, ETC! anyways, Not trying to intrude just thought that since I was one of the first playing monocountry I would just try and get the facts straight and clear some things users said. -------------- ********* -------------- Visit my online game @ criminalcombat.com -------------- *********--------------- Quote

Haunted Dawg Posted May 10, 2008 Posted May 10, 2008 Re: who likes mccodes? Was it because i said its easy to decode zend optimization? Because if its i know that there is a little program floating around but very hard to get and it decodes zend and cube optimization. Yes you are going to be paying like $200 for this program but in the long run it works pretty god. No i do not have this program but this guy on my msn list called Chris Blood has got it. Quote
Magictallguy Posted May 10, 2008 Posted May 10, 2008 Re: who likes mccodes? A simple Google search got me this... Very hard to get? I think not! 3rd result in Google! Quote
topmorpg Posted May 10, 2008 Posted May 10, 2008 Re: who likes mccodes? I have both v4 and v5 dezend ability's and its as simple as drag and drop and its done. I recommend v3 mcc uses ioncube. harder to decode and constant updates. TJ Quote
~Destiny-Gaming~ Posted May 17, 2008 Posted May 17, 2008 Re: who likes mccodes? Yes I Like Mccodes BUT! The V2 Version Isn't That Good I Do Like V1 Better Easier Simple Better Mods Nice Layout Well Overall Its Better LOL! Quote

But ioncude is the best way to go around. But as said its not a great idea to ioncude / zend a game script WHY? because then you wont be able to edit it, there for i wont buy it. Quote
_Eagle Posted June 9, 2008 Posted June 9, 2008 Re: who likes mccodes? Having run with the DBS/mcCode for as long as I have, and having seen both sets.... Let us first get one thing clear.. V2 only added Bells and Whistles, and some layout changes.. the FILES were just about the very very same Version 1 files.... whatsit to change mysql_ to $db->, take out the v1 top structure and add include "globals.php"; change mysql_fetch_array to $db->fetch_row and have a working v2 file from v1.. done it.. hell, I had a v2 set GIVEN to me as far back as November 2006.. never launched it.. what DO I like about v2? php5 compliant. v1 is not. what DO I like about v1? easy to code. what do I NOT like about mccode? Database optimization-Non existant.. Am I saying DBS/MC Code is shit? No... it takes a LOT of work to improve, secure, and remove exploits. It is a good stepping stone to learn. v2 code: added a LOT more exploits.. for those that love to find them.. Give me a base game, I will exploit it in a new york second. I aint had a lot to say in a long time. I still am around, but... seems this is not the only time this question has ever been asked. I just figured to have my say this time. Quote
Akash Posted June 9, 2008 Posted June 9, 2008 Re: who likes mccodes? Personally, I feel MC codes is quite a good game engine. Ok, it may have it's negatives, and they may be endless (exploits, bad coding etc) however, unless you've coded your game from scratch and not used MC, you can't really say anything. Without MCcodes, most of you wouldn't even have a game and alot of us would not have become interested in gaming. Therefore, I suggest that if you use MC codes, learn to code yourself to improve it and think of it more as a learning project, not a badly coded engine. I prefer V2 to V1 honestly because I'm just used to it. I feel that it's become simple to edit the files in V2, with the experience I have in it. Though, I must say, I previously used lite, when I was learning, and didn't like it. I feel differently now, as Lite is actually a good place to start off. Remember one thing, DBS was young when he coded this, 99% of you couldn't do it better at his age... Quote
