Hii MakeWebGames, I was just wondering does anyone else on this forum use Ubuntu 14.04?

And if so, Is there any chance I could maybe ask you a couple of questions about IDE's and FTP programs.

Thanks ^_^

IDEs and FTP soft shouldnt really matter when it comes to OS's.

For me since I use Mac OSX I use FileZilla for FTP and I use Netbeans for my IDE

Oh okay, I'm using "Geany" and "Filezilla" at the moment, However it's not quite as compatible as "Notepad++ & Filezilla" was on Windows.

I'm having trouble making it "auto" over-write new files if edited file is newer, Also trying to edit the settings so when I double click a "filename" in Filezilla it automatically opens in Geany, Still no luck though...

If you right-click a particular file type you should be able to go to a properties menu and set an option to open this file type in this program. As for the FTP uploads you should be able to click to overwrite if newer and apply to this upload if you are overwriting files.

But Netbeans is an IDE with built in Git and FTP powers as well

I'll have a quick look then and see if I can alter those settings.

Is Netbeans available for Ubuntu?

Well it is available for Linux

https://netbeans.org/downloads/

Downloading and installing now, I'll see if this can fix my Ubuntu troubles! :P

Update: After installing Netbeans, It seems to have some issues with running on Ubuntu 14.04 :(

Anyone have any ideas on how to get a nice FTP/IDE setup going on this OS?

Im moving from OSx to linux, for all Operating systems i use Brackets.io and Filezilla, but you could always use the command line for FTP.

there are several guides on the internet how to do it, it would be worth looking up as you get use to it it is rather easy to use imo

Okay, I'll look it up and see how it goes.

I use PHPStorm on both Mac OS X and ElementaryOS (Linux) http://elementaryos.org

It takes some tweaking to get everything working on Linux but I love it. For FTP I use Transmit on Mac and FileZilla on Linux.

If you need any help setting it up just shout.
