Dave
Hello, I recently have taken a huge interest into the new Google +1 buttons. Thus doing so I discovered there were a fair few very poorly created exchange sites for trying to gain more and more +1's on your site. So in a mist of being very bored and angry I decided to try to create my own site which would hopefully provide a more efficient, clean and effective service to anyone who wanted to use it. Obviously due to this using Google accounts it's pretty tough for me to test it by myself so I've made the risky choice of having an open beta. http://exchange.davemacaulay.com/ The site uses Google account oAuth (basically meaning it'll use your google account to login to my site.. all we request is your email and name so your password is safe!) so there is no need to physically register just hit the "Login" button and hit allow. The rest should hopefully be straight forward. I look forward to hearing your feedback and any bugs you encounter. Thanks,
Kieran-R
Although it is (was?) a great idea, I don't think it will work as well as you may think for a couple of reasons: 1) The big hype for Google +1's in my eyes, is over. At first people thought it would really improve their website's rankings. The results have proved very little, if not nil. 2) There's already quite a few of these sites, and I think you've missed your chance in the market. If this was set up a few months ago, then it would have done great. However, whats to stop people going to same kind of websites with a MUCH larger user base? The site looks great, but unfortunately I think you've came just a little late!

The site looks great, but unfortunately I think you've came just a little late! It's not about getting big.. it's just something I've wanted to do. There is a market for it. A HUGE MARKET. The hype is still very much around... I've received users signing up before I even posted a link anywhere on the internet.. beats me how they found the site. The market isn't huge but if you didn't notice... the site has no way of generating income so it's not a massive concern of mine. I wasn't ideally looking for business tips because that's already been all planned out I want people to test the sites functionality and see if they enjoy using the site. rulerofzu
With all the bad additions FB keeps adding to their site a lot of people are finding the google + easier to use so I think you could be very wrong their Kieran I think the hype is only just starting. Spudinski
This is all wrong what you're saying about +1. It's not a market, it's a tool. It doesn't increase your rankings, and it doesn't give you an advantage. Secondly, +1 & Google+ are different things, they're merely integrated with each other. Third, the +1 feature is for users. Say it with me now, u s e r s. If you're site is good, and somebody +1's it, they're contacts will see the result when they search for something similar. Per example: I see a book review I really like, so I +1 it. Dave comes along, and wants to know more about the book, he searches for the title. Bam, my +1 of the review comes up first. The feature is indeed for users. But think about it from a consumer point of you.. someone who only knows that people who like a site will hit that +1 button. You go to a site and want to buy a product and see that 0 people have +1'd it.. you're going to think they're either a small or new company? Where as if they had 100 or so +1's it would give the consumer, potentially, more confidence in your product. This is why I've recently joined the hype about it because it makes some sense to me. But yes the +1 button was to be used with the Google+ network originally.. but apparently it does affect your search rankings now. I'll try and drag up the article if I can find it. Kieran-R
but apparently it does affect your search rankings now. I'll try and drag up the article if I can find it. I've tried and tested. It definitely does not effect your search rankings towards everyone. It only effects search results towards your friends on Google+.
Dave
I've tried and tested. It definitely does not effect your search rankings towards everyone. It only effects search results towards your friends on Google+. They update the rankings over time.. I know it's not instant considering Google only re-crawls websites every few weeks then updates sometime after. To prove the affect it has would be hard.. But I guess I'll take your work for it. Spudinski
I've tried and tested. It definitely does not effect your search rankings towards everyone. It only effects search results towards your friends on Google+. As I said before, it only alters results to individual users.
