Rory_M Posted August 12, 2011 Posted August 12, 2011 Does anyone know why most people use USD for trading, even though most people are from the UK? I suspect it's something to do with Peter and other biggies using USD, since a lot of people buy off them lol. Quote
The Spirit Posted August 12, 2011 Posted August 12, 2011 I prefer dealing in USD. Dont know why. Its probably because I know the value of games / work in usd. Quote
Rory_M Posted August 12, 2011 Posted August 12, 2011 It is better for you if you just use GBP then convert it using http://www.xe.com Quote
Kieran-R Posted August 12, 2011 Posted August 12, 2011 USD is basiacally the 'internet' curency in most places. If everyone used different currencys in a worldwide area (eg forum) then it would become very confusing. k Using your local currency is ok on country specific forums. Quote
Rory_M Posted August 12, 2011 Posted August 12, 2011 but the question is why is the USD being used so much? Quote
Mystical Posted August 12, 2011 Posted August 12, 2011 United States, Firefox, Windows Vista. Money is money no matter where it's from. Quote
Rory_M Posted August 12, 2011 Posted August 12, 2011 Mystical you need to upgrade soon because the updates are dying out on Vista and XP (espcially Vista) Quote
bineye Posted August 12, 2011 Posted August 12, 2011 Ireland, Google Chrome, Vista. USD is seen as the "international" currency, and is widely recognised and used all around the world for purchases that are not just limited to online. No matter where a person is in the world, chances are they will know a close conversion from USD to their own currency, and this wouldn't be the case with any other currency. This means that using USD offers a happy medium for all users. Quote

Mystical Posted August 12, 2011 Posted August 12, 2011 (edited) Mystical you need to upgrade soon because the updates are dying out on Vista and XP (espcially Vista) Vista sucks! I will be upgrading to Windows 7 soon. It came installed with my Dell Pc I purchased several years ago. Edited August 12, 2011 by Mystical Quote
runthis Posted August 12, 2011 Author Posted August 12, 2011 I have no problem with vista, i do all my graphic rendering in a fresh install with only my graphic programs. In windows 7 they moved to much around for my taste and requires too much of my ram which i need for rendering. Quote
Nickson Posted August 12, 2011 Posted August 12, 2011 Belgium, Firefox, Linux (ubuntu 11.04) USD is probably used everywhere on the internet because the US has currently one of the, or the, strongest markets. That, alongside with the "global acceptance" of the dollar makes it a popular choice. Since many people use it already, newcomers to the circle use it as well. But 2 Brits can perfectly negotiate a deal over paypal in the GBP currency... No one is going to stop you :-P Quote
Kr3W Posted August 12, 2011 Posted August 12, 2011 I'm from the U.S. i use firefox and run windows xp lol Quote
