What type of game would the comunity prefer.

Your biggest mistake would be to make a mafia game, i would advise you to make something that hasn't been made much, but will succeed, like a fantasy game or a tycoon game, something like that, hope i helped. :)

Why are you asking? Your biggest mistake is thinking of making a game without any idea in the first place.

the reason im asking is to get ideas of themes that can be used in a text based game , as i dont want to make a mafia game i need to explore the other themes , so i just wanted to ask what the other themes are just incase someone had a good theme thought up.:)

Not 100% true, just don't make a Mafia game based on mccodea. Mafia is a big theme that people love to.play. just don't make it generic...

Try different Theme Mafia ones are to boring now 1000's out there and also it will be kind of hard these days getting active players to play a mafia game because most will be on other mafia game where they spent money and leveled up so on and wouldnt want to leave, try a War, Army, Empire Building sort of games where your build a empire train teams fight so on..thats what people will like to play

Like I have said many times before, mafia/crime themed games can still be very successful even though the market might be quite saturated. Just be unique and different, that is what many owners forget or don't do. If you manage to do that, you can succeed, otherwise it will be very hard.

Also, make a game you want to create. Make something you enjoy yourself and chose something you can think about easily, you'll need it..

You're asking the wrong people. You want to be asking the people you're creating the game for. What's the target audience? How much time, and money are you going to put into it? We can't just pick an idea for you... it does not work that way.

This is true of any theme. You have to remember there are war/army/empire building games that have massive amounts of users on them already. Take Freeciv, could compete with that? If not then don't. Your unique selling point is your own. Basing it around a theme is silly. If you think you can bring something to the mafia market... do so.

well il keep it as a surprise for when the game comes out , i will be needing some php coders later on so i will be asking to be pm'd with your prices . and also will be needing a template designer. i can also tell you i didnt use any of the ideas posted on here !
