In my personal opinion.. I'd say that a good team of Coders, or maybe Coder makes a good game, as when the players suggest something it should be taken into consideration and maybe coded fully to what the player wants, or parts of it coded. Not only does the coder(s) make a game worth playing; but the other players as well for instance if you have a bunch of a***-holes "hogging" the top hall of fame spots; and use their attributes to their advantage, then that game isn't worth playing as it will not be any fun. Also, a good game economy.. If your game started and 6 months down the line players already have $2billion+ in their banks; that isn't going to be good for the new players who may find it intimidating, and leave.

i agree being able to make mods just for that site is a very good pard however the owner/staff must be able to deal with kids if i get mails every few days saying join such and suck game and nothing is done to stop it i would leave i would also leave if the games look is not well done do not over do it.

players only make a game so much as long as anyone willing to put the time in can make it as a high ranking player i would play and enjoy fighting for that top spot this goes for any type of game with ranks

from a players view:

A good background story.

A high user experience ( GUI ).

Maximum interactivity.

Ranking

pvp / teem pvp

Quest/Scores

Hidden tricks / secrets

Puzzle type quest involved. etc...

Low resource cost and fast loading.

Unique Idea, simple clean interfaces.

For me when i play a game (seldom event) i want it to be secure because i personally have a curious nature and finding bugs is my job so if the game ain't secure there's no point me playing it.

Security is mainly for cheaters. Theres always a way to do damage no matter how high the security is. But then your not a gamer.

I have to admit finding a bug and exploit-it is a part of the puzzle game quest :)). Love to get on top fast ... but then everything gets boring.

A good staff team.

All to often I have came across staff members that forget how to deal with players as people. Its that human interaction I value the most. Even when a player is in the wrong, staff should always be polite and respectful, no matter how childish the players behavior is. Building a reputation of having a staff team that players can relate too, and openly talk to is a valuable commodity to a game.

- Very good marketing

- Unique features

- Not the old text game with some art to make it better

- Not the old McGame or crime game

- Very good story

- Good updates

- Ways to let players interact

- Good chat (and not a shout box)

- Helpful admin

- A strong rules against bad players.

Nah not really but i suppose the above does help later on...

1 = Getting your maths right is a good idea

2 = Research is always a good thing into the type of game your making

3 = Spreadsheets help a great deal and will enable you to keep everything clear and up to date...

4 = Graphics should be the last thing last a game sees.

hmm

Something original not the same old mafia game

Story Line

items and art work (google suck higher a artist)

active players

active staff

cash prizes

events etc...

I could go on for ever but the biggest thing atleast for my members is the story line and and cash prizes can never go wrong running events like that

Hmm.. a good game for me woudl be: -

  • A Good layout
  • Good graphics
  • Admin with experiance
  • Good coding skills to fix BUGS/ new mods incomming.. etc...
  • Mods never seen before
  • Good sotry line
  • Good hosting - Don`t really like slow games =/
  • Full game security

Well thats my opinion. :D

Nah your users will give you general feedback on gameplay you have to remember they are the ones that will be using it more than yourself.

Oh and i see you play the Piano me also ;)

Nothing much to add here to the list outside this point :

Simplicity of use and quality of tutorial will be a central point which will completely modify the ROI and from that allow you to push more work in your game (like buying professional animations, hiring moderation team...), a good game for me is a game which must stay updated and that's not free :)

A level of Realism, Not I mean set in modern day, not that its without magic or space or such,

But If I click a link which gives my account a +1 because I voted on some site.. WHY does my HERO gain that point? what do all these points MEAN for my character/account..

When a game is pure meta, I get very bored, very fast..

Naturally when you play a game , you get to know everything about it eg main currency / secondary currency , so you would know exactly what the currencys mean for you character and has for the part (WHY does my HERO gain that point?) maybe you should read stuff before just clicking on the link :p

No, you misunderstood..

If I play a game that gives me $100 (fake in game currency) a day to make actions.. I understand that the money comes from some kind of investment my hero has, or some job, or what have you...

but there is a link, VOTE FOR OUR GAME get + $10. In real life I'm voting for the game, in game life, what did I just do? where did the $10 come from? WTF? Magically appears in my hands? thats bullshut.. and so I'll quit.. the games designers don;t take the time to justify everything that exists in their game, I'm not going to take the time to play..

If I can;t trust the game to play fair, I can't play the game..

to clarify.. I was playing Diablo II with a sorceress, focus on ICE magic. I beat the big bad demon, when I was around 23rd level, the game PENALISED me, and gave me 35 experience! Normally killing diablo gives like 30-50,000.. the fact that I was LOWER level, should result in me getting MORE experience, not less..

it was a game breaker.. I took it back to the shop, demanded back my money and never played it again. It spoiled my experience of the diablo games, and I cry foul against Blizzard for not being Gamesmasters, but just being clever marketing people who dupe alot of idiots to make the genre into something akin to Twilight vs Vampires..
