Png or jpg

I have replaced my jpg pic with new png ones and my site has seriouly slowed down due to this. I was wondering if this could be the actual cause of this.

This is because generally PNG's are better quality but also bigger images, Use jpg's it will make your site faster as long as they dont contain transparency :).

Despite bigger images, png is not necessaryly a better quality standard!!!
