Gwink Posted December 29, 2009 Posted December 29, 2009 Hi, I won't disclover incoming source but I have a strange stats for one of my recent paid campaign (not single source it's an advertising program and got enough traffic from them to confirm it's not bad luck) : got 80% of firefox traffic (outside that everything look legit about stats, countries are ok, operating system % too... and traffic got a referrer it's not popup stuff) Any idea which kind of sources could do that? (registrations on my games are ok behind but it is really strange, usually IE = 70% at least ) any idea welcome... A bit lost on that Quote

Zero-Affect Posted December 30, 2009 Posted December 30, 2009 Because google chrome is rubbish along with Safari and MSIE (i know MSIE is shown). Quote
mdshare Posted December 30, 2009 Posted December 30, 2009 been checking more data and games wise , seems that browser usage is more FF than IE probably due to the fact to be able to run scripts ... in other words greasemonkey scripts ... Quote
Gwink Posted December 30, 2009 Author Posted December 30, 2009 Yesterday from that source : 1. Firefox 178 visits 92.23% 2. Internet Explorer 7 visits 3.63% 3. Safari 6 visits 3.11% 4. Opera 2 visits 1.04% My overall is about 50/50 ie/ff as tribal war stats... Got an answer through email saying they do not filter traffic and do not understand neither why I'm receiving such high FF % Really really strange and starting to upset me (not because it could be cheat but because I don't understand at all :cursing: ) Quote
Dominion Posted December 30, 2009 Posted December 30, 2009 people use ie8 cos it comes with windows and most people have windows most find it easy and never change if your running a game/site were people that are on a computer a lot would go they are the people that look into stuff like using firefox and firefox is the 2nd biggest browser next to ie8 (i think) Quote
Gwink Posted December 30, 2009 Author Posted December 30, 2009 I don't get in which term your message is related with my issue but I agree IE is mostly used because it's default stuff... Quote

(Unless what I've heard has changed) but due to some crazy law suit or something Microsoft is not allowed to ship IE with their Windows product because it is unfair on the competition. Quote

Gwink Posted December 31, 2009 Author Posted December 31, 2009 ah ok yes I agree it makes sense that the 70% IE overall stats on internet won't match for such games, 50/50 could be ok but more than 80% FF (today even more!) still look very strange to me Quote
mdshare Posted December 31, 2009 Posted December 31, 2009 It really depends, for instance if you use gameadvertisingonline (GAO) and select tribalwars to have your ads displayed you will have more FF users. Simple reason why, there are a lot of greasemonkey scripts for tribalwars hence FF needed to run those. More and more games allow greasemonkey scripts/addons for their games so it does create an influx on FF users. Quote
Gwink Posted December 31, 2009 Author Posted December 31, 2009 I see, very interesting, yes perhaps it's related Quote
