ishmell Posted September 26, 2009 Posted September 26, 2009 What do people think of having a community where pbbg games can be made? The community would allow people to sign up, sign in and create a game in the community. Basically to create a game you would enter the name of the game, description and category. Then it would setup the game for you in the community with a url like http://www.game.thecommunity.com/yourgamename (just an example) along with default content. Users would be able to change the navigation pages like hide, remove and indent. Also they would be able to add scripts, take away scripts, edit scripts and add/remove/edit things with sql. All that good stuff... I was thinking of using the epilogue engine 1.0 to make this possible. Just need to know what people think... Quote
mdshare Posted September 26, 2009 Posted September 26, 2009 not a bad idea reminds me of a dutch game project years ago Quote
srachit Posted September 26, 2009 Posted September 26, 2009 also keep it that more then one person can work at a project Quote
ishmell Posted September 26, 2009 Author Posted September 26, 2009 Yes, there would be Manager and Assistant Manager positions for each game. Also people that would play the games would sign up to the community then they can join a bunch of games with there 1 registration. They would have a My Games style page where all the games they joined would show up. Games would be able to be public or private. Public as in anyone can join and Private as in people apply to join then they would have to be approved by a game manager. Quote
srachit Posted September 26, 2009 Posted September 26, 2009 how about giving the person the option to choose the engine he wants?? Quote
ishmell Posted September 26, 2009 Author Posted September 26, 2009 Its not impossible but would be allot more work than I could imagine. First off it would require the engine to be open source and permission from its developers to use it for the project. And I dont really see a need for that when I have my own open source engine that I can make and do whatever I want with. Quote
mdshare Posted September 26, 2009 Posted September 26, 2009 found the dutch concept http://startcrime.nl/ some of the games done by members http://startcrime.nl/nl/GoldCrime , http://startcrime.nl/nl/Maffia-War , http://startcrime.nl/nl/Criming Quote
Jeff.S Posted September 26, 2009 Posted September 26, 2009 I have to say thats not a bad idea ;) Quote
mdshare Posted September 26, 2009 Posted September 26, 2009 It keeps control over the main source, so no script thieves to spread and distribute it. Quote

ishmell Posted October 11, 2009 Author Posted October 11, 2009 Ah I see, the idea has been done by the looks of it. However, the way i was thinking, a game with any genre could be made. Im still not sure if ill do this but maybe if I see the interest is still around after i release Epilogue Engine LITE Version 1.0, then I may do it. Quote
Arek Posted October 14, 2009 Posted October 14, 2009 Hey Good idea, might be a good idea to charge a monthly subscription (Same as webhosting), or even charge them for the amount of users they hold. Maybe if they have under 100 users its free but if they go over that limit they pay a small fee, and so on. Maybe make it possible for them to use their own domains but you still provide the hosting. ishmell Posted October 27, 2009 Author Posted October 27, 2009 Well ladies and gentlemen it is official. The production of the game community has began. Me and a team of designers, programmers and ideologists have began its construction. We will be using the Epilogue Engine LITE Version 1.0 (which is soon to be released) and chaning it up to become CreateR. CreateR will allow people to make there own persistant browser based games with only a few clicks. You can keep an eye on its production at the fallowing link below... http://www.createradar.com But it does not stop there. Create Radar will also be hosting peoples pbbg's for free but only to a limited amount. So you defiantly want to be around to send an application for free hosting once the site launches. Not only that but the team of designers will be doing templates for pbbg owners for free. So yeh, stay tuned to it... The production of this project has just began so it will be a little while till its complete. The team consists of 8 people including me, as head of its production... Quote
