Nickson Posted September 17, 2009 Posted September 17, 2009 So you are going to keep track of a few programs that might be interesting? Might become a huge list! And how will you decided what ones that will come on the list, as not all are compatible with all os's and such :P Openkomodo (development) Filezilla (ftp client/server) Pidgin (chat program) Xchat (irc client - 30days trial on windows - unlimited on linux) Kvirc (irc client) Netbeans (development) Some other tools that other people might use and are worth mentioning for sure Opera - Chrome Star office notepad2, editplus, phpedit, geany, gedit, ... evolution (mail) totem, miro, media player classic (video playing) Quote
mdshare Posted September 17, 2009 Author Posted September 17, 2009 After lets say 20 replies or so we could make a multi category/vote poll so that the community builds the final list. And I have also more than posted in my post just didn't want to list to much :p Quote
seanybob Posted September 17, 2009 Posted September 17, 2009 # Notepad++ I've found Crimson Editor to be a better text editor myself. Notepad ++ is decent though. # SmartFTP (not fully free, trial stops after 30 days) Ew... No really good freeware out there ftpwise. Firefox's ftp add-on is fine, but doesn't allow you to edit text files on the server inside the ftp program. I personally use cuteftp, costs $60, and has every feature I could ever want. # winRAR/winZIP 7zip is the way to go. Unlike winrar and winzip, 7zip supports ALL compression formats mankind has ever come up with, as well as encryption. And it's free. Quote
mdshare Posted September 17, 2009 Author Posted September 17, 2009 Thanks, gives me some new toys now and crimson editor was my fav but I switched to notepad++ ... following the crowd ... Quote
