Re: [mccode] jail/hosp shoutbox

lol. then what i have done is make it so all users can see the chat even if not in jail. well that's kind of a good thing for my game as i have a chat on every page thingy and they all flood it with bail requests as i have a bail mod that was made for me.

this way the other users that are not in jail can still visit the jail shout and see who is offering what for bail.

it's a great mod seany and my users love it. it works like a charm and i also added color to the user name, it looks great.

thanks for posting it seany.

Re: [mccode] jail/hosp shoutbox

yea i was a bit confusing :P what i did was make it so users can't use the main chat if in jail or hospital so we would stop being flooded with bail requests. as the users were often in a convo with someone that had just gone to jail i thought that allowing all users to be able to talk in both chats was a good thing so they could carry on their convo while at the same time stopping the jailed users from having access to the main chat.

pheww, u gotta kinda be there to get what i'm rambling about. :-)

ps, i mailed you my server details seany.

Re: [mccode] jail/hosp shoutbox

If anyone wants a better shoutbox NOT RUN on TEXT files, but wants it in Database with an ADMIN Panel just let me know. I have a shout box not run on TEXT files and its only one file and one table for shouts. If you want me to post mine let me know I will, this is used for both V1 and V2 with no CONVERTING for all you noob coders. Very very easy to install and dose limit the shouts to 5 to 50 however many you want. Just admin panel keeps all chats till you delete them, but only posts 20 at time. I have mine at 20 but you can put in main menu and limit to 5 very easy to do. Anyone want it just MSN me and I will send it and tell you how to set it up.

Re: [mccode] jail/hosp shoutbox

It works for both versions..

But it is still hackable..

You are able to use an HTML injection in that.. I can't remember how it was fixed. But Nyna knows as she provided me with the anti-hack

HTML can be injected? hows that work? could someone mail me the method so i can protect my site from such attacks

Re: [mccode] jail/hosp shoutbox

HTML injection is simple and often forgotten...

For example:

inject.php

Now run that up, and enter into the text box the following:

and press submit...

Imagine a user popping that exact into a chat box ... Dam my site would be well seen :D ... Or perhaps he could put a link into a dangerous site:

Re: [mccode] jail/hosp shoutbox

Carefully crafted (X)HTML injection can

a) Break the rendering of the current page for yourself .. and others

b) Display malicious links masquerading as useful hints etc but pointing to malware/porn etc

c) Gain access to session data and cookie data from any user

d) Allow running if scripts outside of the current context

e) Directly redirect users to third party sites

f) Install key/mouse loggers into a users browser

g) Be a royal pain in the ass
