apache. redirecting files to another directory
Spudinski replied to Sim's topic in Linux and Webservers
Well, you can say all query strings without a dot(.) redirects, but it could cause problems. There isn't something like a preg -v for PHP, that I know of. So an inverse option? Try: ^.*(?!\.{3,4}$).* Haven't tested, but I think it might work. -
Thank you for your kind words, but I do think it's time for me to stop this game.

mccode-v2 [Verify Addon - TornCity Style

The implication I'm trying to make, is between methods such as DNSBLs, CAPTCHAs and Spam filters. Each of them serve a different purpose: if you were running a blog, then a spam filter would be much more beneficial to help block spam messages, than say a CAPTCHA system. I weren't talking about the differences between products of the same type, which is what I think you assumed. -

That's because none of them are actually better, each have it's own set of features. Everybody uses the feature set most suited to their situation, and for what they are aiming to do. -
As you should know functions aren't usually just one line in length. Saying to remove line x only would cause a syntax error, as you should know. It would also cause the script to execute in a manner not intended. Then again, it is possible that two scripts are cross-including each other, which could also produce this error. It's easy for the layman to assume everything is simple, but that's just not the case. To be proficient in what you do, you have to be able to think outside of the box for an answer to every possible question. I have made a thread entitled "PHP Errors", which provides example errors with the most common causes. Feel free to educate yourself with it.

That error is not related to this mod, in any way. Please post "previous errors".

Stop spamming. You clearly don't know what you're talking about.

No, rand() is random, it's not a range. The script could produce any number from 1-100 with any execution. It doesn't guarantee a 1:100 chance. Pseudorandom number generator a.k.a the rand() function. -
Transparency within the orb would've been nice. But overall, well done.

I agree, but their reason is pretty straight forward in my eyes. I wouldn't say hackers are losers. I'm an hacker, by definition, all programmers are. I believe they do actually have a valid cause as well. Americans in general don't get the point when it's not to value of them. Oh, and btw, if you're referring to the US as "The Man". They are so far in the dept, they're a government who fakes terror attacks just to get people to vote, their college tuition funds are higher than anywhere in the world - I wouldn't say so. There is a reason behind each of their attacks, legally it's wrong, but morally it's correct. Say someone kills your wife. Legally it would be wrong to take revenge, but morally it's correct. I'm for a free and open world, so to me Anonymous is a very good cause/collective. I stand for the same things as they do, but I'll admit, my moral code is just different. I like freedom, and would do anything do defend mine.

mccode-v2 [Verify Addon - TornCity Style
Spudinski replied to Spudinski's topic in Free Modifications
The probability of actually hitting one is to low. I don't have statistics, so I can't work out exactly, but is something like 1:1000 ratio. This solution is viable. -
Read more on Naked Security Ok, even though Anonymous groups were quick to remove themselves from the equation, it's quite worrying. If it is indeed just spammers, then they are trending on enemy territories. Anonymous isn't much for spam, as it is for quote "peace & freedom". I forsee a little internet based war between spammers and hackvists, but that's just my opinion. And then, why would the spammers make threats against children? This is much more high-profile than simpler "viagra/drug" spam? I wish I could see what's exactly in that email. What do you guys think?

mccode-v2 [Verify Addon - TornCity Style
Spudinski replied to Spudinski's topic in Free Modifications
I get your point, but this was for a client once. It could be used on the register page or login page, it was designed to replace MCCodes captcha system. Also, that method won't work here. If I remember correctly, it resets every x minutes(specified by admin), rendering another captcha to bypass. Captcha's are generally useless, many tools can bypass them. The hard part is creating an intelligent bot to do the work. -
Last prune... I promise. Interactive userlist, is just that. It is fully ajax, and includes a search feature. Upon click of a entry within the userlist, a dialog(inline) will apear, holding basic info of the user. It uses jQuery, and that loads from Google, so don't worry. I'm far too lazy for screenshots, I already had enough trouble just getting the thing on my linux box. Installation: 1. Upload and replace the file "userlist.php". 2. Upload files "unknown_female.png", "unknown_male.png" and "pagination.txt". Another prune. Development page is basically a page where developers/admins can show their players what is currently being done on the game, or going to be added. It's works on levels/percentage of completion as assigns colour codes. Current abilities are Add, Edit and Remove, and works on MySQL. It works on ANY version, so please, for the love of sex, don't ask for a conversion. I can't be bothered do upload screenshots, so if anyone wants to, I'll edit this post. Installation: 1. Run the file devpage.sql against your database. 2. Upload the file to the root directory of your game, set file permissions if needed(0755) 3. Make an HTML anchor that points to it. Download: http://www.mediafire.com/?yhy9s3svh6qj72c All important license: http://creativecommons.org/licenses/by-sa/3.0/ Problems should be sent to spudinski[]gmail.com. Discussion should be done in this thread.

mccode-v2 [Verify Addon - TornCity Style

I added styling to my post, please re-read. -
Long ago I sold this, but it needs pruning. A very simply addon, can be used for MCCodes or any other game/website. It was to replicate TornCity's captcha, so don't cure at me because of the similarities - it's meant to be so. Well, they doomed themselves. They were hungry for money. I think they could have made more money being the only game of it's type.

My farther taught me to have a high self respect and dignity. But mostly exaggerated point 1. But rule 11 is kind of weird. Geeks are just the modern nerd, people tend to forget that.

apache. redirecting files to another directory
Spudinski replied to Sim's topic in Linux and Webservers
What do you want to do exactly? If you only want it to affect the "gamefiles" directory, use basedir /gamefiles/]. -
As discussed: Ravan isn't illegal until proven so. Everyone, whether legally purchased from MCCodes.com, Ravan, or torrented, currently have a legal game/code. MCCodes's TOS only states usage of the source code illegal. But then goes on to say that you can not have a beta stage in any game, and that you don't have any legal rights of the source code on your own server. No-one will take MCCodes serious in a court case, as they have no ground to stand on. By law, they may not indulge in trading like they do, because: a) "automatic" copyright falls only to the creator b) they have no business rights, and c) if you are trading by an alias, you have to state it on invoices an in a TOS, eg. Spudinski Oosthuizen trading as Company name. Please search the forum for a recent thread alike this where we discuss this in detail.

Resources: It very much depends on what you want to do(as a_b said), and the OS you want to run. I would suggest 256mb RAM & 1GB burstable, 1.2min(s.c.) burstable 1/2(xeon c2quad range), 10gb hd, and nothing less than 10mb line speed. That's the specs I usually look for when using ubuntu 8.10-server, and apache2, mysql, dovecot, etc. If you want to run things like bind, an ircd, shoutcast, etc. with apache2, then I would suggest higher specs. Support: if you are new to *nix-like OSs, I'd suggest you buy 24/7 monitoring as well. (this is not usually free) Something to remember with some programs, is that over time they do use more and more RAM, and keep it. So you will have to be aware of that also, and be able to deal with such programs. My preferred VPS provider is still RapidVPS, but you could use others. I'd suggest you always read reviews of the hosting provider before settling. Years operational is always also a good indicator of how reliable they are.

That's a good observation, I've thought of that too when I wrote that code. It comes down to whether you want to show a donated admin as admin colour or as donator colour. I would think that they would prefer the admin colour. To modify: $user_colours = array( // user_level <= hex colour code(as str) 1 <= '000000', 2 <= '111111', 'donator' <= 'CC0000' ); $user_level = ($ir['donator_days'] >= 1 && $ir['user_level'] <= 1) ? 'donator' : $ir['user_level']; // somewhere else echo '<span style="color: #' . $user_colours[$user_level] . ';">' . $ir['username'] . '</span>'; Example above would only recolour users who hold no additional permissions.
-
I have an idea though. The forum is using the script tag method, but there is a <pre> method as well. Perhaps if only temporary, you guys could switch to pre tags just so we(I) could read the code without syntax highlights.
-
You're all over-complicating things here. Simply define an array with heximal colour values once, and use it. Eg. $user_colours = array( // user_level <= hex colour code(as str) 1 <= '000000', 2 <= '111111', 'donator' <= 'CC0000' ); $user_level = ($ir['donator_days'] >= 1) ? 'donator' : $ir['user_level']; // somewhere else echo '<span style="color: #' . $user_colours[$user_level] . ';">' . $ir['username'] . '</span>'; As for donators, it would be wise to assign them a different userlevel, which the script does.
