Let's face it, going to a gym isn't going to matter if you've gut a gun pointed at your face. How about removing the gym completely, let users learn different skills i.e martial arts that will actually help them in a close quarters battle with another user. Let the items that the user equips effect stats. Body armour reduces damage, Special items that gives a % bonus for a specific time. Or you could go down the route of letting users hire/train 'units' such as henchman. The more recruits they have the more powerful they are, this can be controlled by using a 'leadership' stat or each unit requires a set amount of food per day etc etc If you take the gym out you won't have the '1%ers' farming there stat's, it will all be down the items they have and you'll have complete control over when a user will have access to specific items. Blah, just blabbering now. Make it unique.

Might be worth trying to modify this, http://www.dougtesting.net - If done properly, could be nice!

Looking good :D

First of all I'd fix your registration form - I've created 2 accounts but cannot login to either! If you look at your website as a *potential* user then there isn't really anything enticing the user to sign up. I'd re-arrange your landing page, put the registration form there, screenshots, user feedback. Entice the user with an 'offer' - Sign up today and get xxx. Considering that a lot of your traffic will be coming from mobile devices it would be a good idea to make the experience as good as possible. Look into making your existing design more responsive. Once you start getting new members use them to your advantage with a decent referral scheme. Could make it more interesting with rewards with game value such as if your referral buys premium features that they get x% added as credit to there account. Anyway, think I'm blabbering on a bit now but overall advice would be to sure that your site is as accessible to new sign-ups as possible. If someone looks at your site and thinks it looks cool, they will sign up.

Not sure about Enpass, I know it offers import features for LastPass, OnePassword, Keychain and from your standard browsers. I'd have to look into that one!
-
Lul, what? It's a piece of software. KeePass, LastPass, OnePassword, Dashlane - It's what people in the industry use o.0. How else will you manage 100's of passwords between teams, or even manage unique, secure passwords between the websites that you currently visit.
-
Howdy y'all, Just thought I would post this since everyone likes things for free, right? Anyway, I use a program called DashLane to manage all of my passwords, auto logins etc etc and I just got an e-mail with saying anyone who signs up using this link, https://www.dashlane.com/en/cs/3bc3a764 will get 6 months premium (back-up, sync to devices) for free. Oh and I also get 6 months for anyone using it, win win. https://www.dashlane.com Anyway check it out. Cheers.

Any examples of your own work?

I totally agree! I doubt there would be much money in the idea but I think it could be used, probably by teens more than anyone. The only reason I thought of it was simply because it could be quite cool to build :p I'm always up for looking into 'different' ideas, I'll add you on Skype tomorrow and see if we can come up with something!?

Thanks :) I'm not offering my services here, simply looking for collaboration.

Hello everyone, What I have in mind: I want to build a 'build your own game' system, yes I know of a couple that already exist, yes I think they could be improved. I think that a top end, high quality product giving a potential user to have a game and use it how ever they wish could be quite a cool thing to do. Is it a quick money making scheme? No. Would I release a sub-par product? No. Would it be a cool thing to build? I think so! What I'm looking for: I'm looking for a person or a group of persons to assist me with this, At the moment this is really just an idea and no real thought or effort has been put into this. I'm just putting this out there to see whether there would be any interest. If this isn't something you're looking to do, no problem! Hit me up because I would be interested to here of any ideas that you have! About me: I've been programming for around 6/7 years, work professionally in the business and actually own (well half!) of a web design & development agency. I've also been around here for a few years, under different aliases from time to time but rarely post anymore. My skill set includes: -- PHP -- (x)HTML(5) -- a couple CMS's, Drupal & Wordpress. -- a few frameworks, Laravel, Symphony, Smarty, jQuery etc -- Photoshop/Illustrator I'm not going to lie, I won't be able to dedicate every other second on any project right now nor would I expect you to, this would just be a side project that we can work on together, make something really cool and hopefully have something beautiful to release at the end of it! I think that's it, I'm on my phone so excuse any spelling! Over and out.

It depends, If you're going to create an OTB solution then I doubt you would have developers using it if it's a paid solution. With that in mind it would need to be very easy to use, very easy to extend without coding knowledge with a vast array of modules available to plug in and out. With this you'll probably be targeting gamer's that want to take the next step and make there own game much like mccodes. If you were to create an engine then it will primarily be for the developers either to act as a base of a game the developer is creating or if they have been commissioned to create one. With this in mind the code needs to be easy to read, understand whats going on and have a good Wiki/Docs so they can learn how to use it. The code would have to be $hit hot aswell, if the developer doesn't think the code is up to scratch, I don't think they would bother using it. So, before you start thinking about features I think you need to decide whether you will be making an OTB or an Engine, with that then we can throw ideas out for you. ^^ IMO

Okay, let me reiterate... explore.css line 714. .bar_a { width: 150px; height: 12px; border: 0px solid #3e3e3e; background-image: url(../images/userbarsempty.png); } The background image you have set does not exist. Even when it does display it won't display correctly because of your markup. .bar_a { width: 150px; height: 12px; background-image: url(/bar_a.png); } This does exist and is in style_score.css, so you're overriding the image that exists with one that does not. I suggest uploading an image at that URI, at least you'll have something to look at. * This can all be seen using Chromes development tools or Firefox development tools
-
One issue I see is that on the .bar_b and .bar_a classes you're setting a background image that does not exist. You also have some HTML/CSS issues with the way you have tried to display your stats/bars.

If you're aiming at the Mafia market then I'd suggest keeping it simple - TheMafiaRPG.com or TheMafiaEngine.com - Both would be advantageous for SEO rather than more a 'game' name.

I just know that the response to this from Guest will be awesome.

Looking for a web developer in or around East Sussex, UK.
LeeMason replied to LeeMason's topic in Web Developement
I was gauging interest, nothing more, nothing less. The same reason you would not throw your time is why I will not throw mine. The chances of finding someone here are slim hence the lack of effort. (and the advert being up in other more suitable places) Ahhh, I remember my family holidays in good 'ole Devon! Just FYI, the people from this forum did not apply for *this* position, it was a junior position advertised around 6 months back. Had one guy (from this forum) who started a trial period, well, I say started but he never turned up so doesn't leave a lasting impression aha. -

"We haven't decided whether to take on a junior or whether to take on a skilled web developer." Like I have said, we are also looking for juniors, being a forum for web based games I would assume that at least a few people here have the required skills or at least the passion to learn them. We have already had 3 interviewees for a junior position in the past from this forum (all though not successful), the reason for posting here was to see if there is any more. I'm not going to compose a job description for a community board with little to no hope of finding someone. Anyway, thank you for your reply. -

The reason I posted here is believe it or not, we had a vacancy 6 months ago and 3 of the people who we had interviewed all had direct connection to this forum (It's a small world!). Obviously more information would be passed on to anyone that would wish to know more. We're an established company going strong for 8 years now. I just didn't wish to commit too much time to writing a long description about it because of the small chance of finding anyone. Thanks for your comments. -
Hi, I'm looking for a web developer in or around the East Sussex area in the UK. I know it's a long shot looking here but other places are not looking so good either! Anyway, I'm looking for an in-house web developer with knowledge of, or interest in HTML,CSS,PHP,SQL,WORDPRESS,DRUPAL. We haven't decided whether to take on a junior or whether to take on a skilled web developer. Let's keep this short and simple, I doubt we'll find anyone here. PM me if you think you fit this role. I'll then need to see CV's and I'll let you know of wages etc.
