There's a reason I didn't say anything about football. For starters, it's a total garbage sport, anyway. My point is, a points system seems pretty clear cut to me. The only issue would be rule breaking. For which, video evidence exists.

There are pro's and cons to doing this. It can have undesired results. But, I would recommend checking this out: http://stackoverflow.com/questions/273516/how-do-you-implement-a-good-profanity-filter

And there goes the end-all quote. Don't care to try to want to even think about attempting it. On a further note, I should clarify. It's not a real OLYMPIC sport. A sporting competition should never be based off another person's opinion on skill level. There are many additional Olympic events flawed in this way. Gymnastics comes to mind. There are too many variables. Too many chances at favoritism from the judges. Sports with clear-cut point systems. That is, ones where completing a certain actions (shooting a basket, hitting a target, finishing in the fastest time) allows no room for personal opinions. Opinions skew everything. Like this conversation right here. I have one opinion. Many have another. Those sports, in my OPINION, are acceptable Olympic events.

No worries. Synchronized swimming isn't a real sport, anyway.

ACTUALLY, in this case, "criminal" does not garner capitalization. It's not a name. Just a noun. :P

Basic example: if ($city == 1) { $link = "<a href='example.php?action=dosomething'>[Link Name Here]</a>"; } if ($city == 2) { $link = "<a href='example.php?action=dosomethingelse'>[Other Link Name Here]</a>"; } etc., etc. Again, very basic example, but something like that should do the trick. Then just echo/print $link inside your table.

Putting limits on names that users can sign up with
Seker replied to Daron's topic in Modification Support
Just do this to check for all caps and numbers. Simple and to the point. $all_upper = !preg_match("/[a-z]/", $string); Then, just use something like this: if($_POST['username'] = $all_upper) { die("Sorry, the username is not acceptable. ><a href='register.php'>Back</a>"); } I believe that should work. -

Just busting your balls a bit about the banner on the site not being updated is all. -

That would seem to be the case. Not updating the banner would seem to be the issue. :P -
Putting limits on names that users can sign up with
Seker replied to Daron's topic in Modification Support
Probably could use some kind of variation of preg_match(). But I don't personally know much about it. As far as character limit, I've always thought 7 was a good number. Not too long, not too short. -
Euro Gangster is a Web-Based massively multiplayer online game
Seker replied to Vorless DarkChaos's topic in Browsergames
I think one of the questions to be asked is, why is there a banner on MCCodes.com for Mono District that sends you to EuroGangster? -
*UPDATE* This mod can also be purchased and downloaded immediately at the MCCodes.com marketplace *HERE*

I will also offer my services to integrate this system with any existing or future mods. Price will vary depending on the size of the mod. All future updates/re-writes of this system will be supplied for free to anyone who purchases it. As the new free version 1.1.0 does not include gangs, I have commented out the gang updates in attack, as well as included an additional "new_staff_actions.php" that has no mentions of gangs in it. If you have 1.1.1 and have your gangs system, simply go into attackend.php and remove all the slashes from the gang update queries. Any questions or issues, feel free to PM me or e-mail me. Also taking any and all suggestions for future updates. Hope you enjoy! It gets a bit old for everyone to be grasping at things so much just to drag MC-based games down. I don't get it. Live and let live. The majority of the public is simple and stupid. (Yes, we, the coders, are included in that.) They don't want innovation. They want something they can jump on while it's still hot and ride it to the top before anyone else. The "Ain't broke, don't fix it" attitude is exactly why there "may have been a few successful MC games." They added their personal touch on the core system. That's it. It's 90% aesthetics. Furthermore, as far as these "Oh, it looks like MCCodes" layout comments... It's getting ridiculous. The ones who release templates regularly, or have in the past, (Peter, for example) If they make a bad template, they just get told it's not so great. However, when the random Dick makes a template, and people don't like it, "HEY THAT LOOKS TOO MUCH LIKE MCCODES!" What works for players will never be the same as what works for "developers." Stop treating every single post like it will.

URL Not Showing Action (Urgent - Please Help)
Seker replied to Seker's topic in Modification Support
Yeah, I appreciate it, but I figured it out. Just my mistake thinking the page wouldn't hold on to the POST data a few levels deep. But I got it working exactly as intended. -
Oh, I agree completely. I was so unhappy with the replacement Rachel in The Dark Knight. I understand, sometimes, they can't help it if the actor/actress doesn't want to return. But hell, have something happen to them in between the time of the two films or something. Just takes me right out of it. Though, I'd say Ledger's performance made up for it in that case.

I still haven't seen the movie, yet, but I definitely plan to. Contrary to popular belief, thanks in large part to that horrible Batman & Robin, Bane was never a stumbling idiot. He was, hands down, Batman's ultimate enemy. He was strong as a locomotive, and an absolute genius to boot. These films, to me, have been a blessing to the hero world. Batman was never a "happy-go-lucky superhero." He was never meant to be. He had a dark past and an even darker transformation into what became Batman. Critically speaking, there has never been a Batman film to nail the essence of what was meant to be. They never captured the true emotions behind the tortured mindset that led to the absolutely ass-kicking vigilante-ism that Bruce Wayne embodies. There will always be attempts to re-make the franchise. And, nine times out of ten, like with Superman, those swings will always be misses. Personally, being a fan, I feel like this trilogy nailed it. At least, they got it right with about a billion times more accuracy than any previous attempts. I imagine, some day, when they're not just wanting the money, and they're not afraid to really explore what is really going on in Wayne's head, somebody will get it absolutely right, and that film will be legendary. Until then, this trilogy has made a very decent effort, and I've been happy so far. I don't think I'll be disappointed in the film at all. As far as Bale leaving, I say, good for him. Even though he's re-sparked his career with these flicks, I think he realized when enough is enough. Pushing too far is what kills a series. Just look at Pirates. Fourth film, while they were hoping it would be the start of another trilogy, just lacked a lot of the heart the first three had. I think they're leaving it with a well-rounded set of flicks. I'm just hoping there's at least a few years before someone tries to re-boot it again.

URL Not Showing Action (Urgent - Please Help)
Seker replied to Seker's topic in Modification Support
Haven't had any problems up until now. As you said, mistakes do happen. The whole rest of the system works just fine. It just seems, when coming to the end of larger projects, that's when the problems come out. -
URL Not Showing Action (Urgent - Please Help)
Seker replied to Seker's topic in Modification Support
Alright, let's hear what I did wrong, now. Tell me how I've screwed up a simple form. *Sigh* To be honest, the only reason I was going that route is because I wasn't confident $_POST data would hold several form deep. But it does and I got it to work, so no worries. -
URL Not Showing Action (Urgent - Please Help)

**EDIT** Okay, using "post" worked. I think I sort of understand why, but.. Yeah. As long as it works. -
With this items system I've been working on, I've realized I have to re-do the shops page as well. Now, while working on the Add Shop Item section of my staffitems page, I've hit a weird problem. When I select the type of item I want to add, this is what shows up as the URL: http://localhost/xampp/v1test/staffitems.php?type=1 As you can see, it's not posting the action at all. I don't understand it, because every other form I've created on the page works just fine. Does anyone see anything wrong with my form code? Or do you think it's something in the code for the rest of the function? $types = array(1 => 'Projectile', 2 => 'Melee', 3 => 'Armor', 4 => 'Energy', 5 => 'Health'); echo " Select the item type to add below:<br /> <form action='staffitems.php?action=addshopitem&type={$_GET['type']}' method='get' /> Item Type: <select name='type'>"; foreach ($types as $id => $name) { echo "<option value='", $id ,"'>", $name ,"</option>"; } echo " </select><br /> <input type='submit' value='Select Type' /></form>";

Not you. They're talking about ravan.info. It's an illegally ripped, re-coded copy of MC that they're selling.

I shared a one or two similar experiences with what Alain listed. When W3 went down, I switched to Hostable. Honestly, for shared hosting, it's not that bad. Servers even seem faster than W3. And, when I notice a difference, it's significant, as my connection is generally a crawl, anyway. You also can get a free year of service with one of their packages. Pretty decent deal, I think. I'm going to say Hostable.com.
-
I don't see a single line-break. Hence, all of your links are next to each other. Likely, that's way too long for the screen, so it's shoving it all down to the bottom of the page.
-
When it comes to such a minimal speed difference, I don't think it's about being "correct." It's personal preference. Everyone has a style of coding, and most of the time, there will be at least one unnecessary piece of that style you could pick apart if you really tried, but does that mean they're going to change how they do it? Not likely.
