The more I think about it, MWG needs Organised information that is easy to find specifically designed for new members that doesn't have the flaming, not so much the ranking system, but I think that it will help as well. As far as noobies not being able to answer other noobie threads ... well, there is always mail if it is that important to them, who knows, they might make friends here. My veiw on the people that join just to veiw the free mods section .... well, that needs to be addressed in another suggestion. After I think it over some more, I bet that suggestion centers around number of posts combined with how many days of membership blah blah. Anyway, that one will end up in a new thread When its been more thought out than this suggestion was when I made it.

x10hosting allows 1min crons and has free hosting. HOWEVER! They will not support your game on a free server once you have players. Even in development with just you on there, you will have lagg issues. Id suggest that you go to w3scools.com and read up on crons. This will help you avoid a lot of N00b questions ;) Trust me, been there done that! Still have that site on speed dial!

I have no idea about return, but xat chatting systems have advertising for browser based web games. I mean good audience, People with to much time, and nothing to do go there .... and expirienced Gamers in clans.

There used to be a section for different coding languages, but I cant find it, and I am sure this belongs there, so If I'm just stupid, Im sure Jordan or another moderator will move it for me, if that area is really gone, I guess this is the next best thing... On to the question. Using html / Css: 1. Is it possible to create tabbed areas that come to the top when you click the tab. 2. What is this called? 3. What section can I find this under at W3Scools.com and other such sites so I can learn how to do this. Thanks in advance, I believe learning how to do this will open a whole new world of layouts to me.

Just a note, but users who didn't have 1.0 prob don't realize (Or I'm just being dumb, which has been known to happen) that you have to download 1.0 .... the upgrade is only the new files, it doesn't contain the base script. So get both if you want to use this engine.

Sorry Dave, but I got to go with Peter on this one ... Unless of course infantryx soldiers are somehow super boosted with modern science??? Thats what it makes me think of. I think its to much Lab, not enough steel, jungle, and sand.

A lot of people have seen my works, and a lot of people have asked how I create things like I do with substandard programs. While fancy programs are great tools, Understanding the basics of design and art are the key to getting a good image! Every piece should take into consideration the 8 Principals of art: balance, emphasis, harmony, variety, gradation, movement, rhythm, and proportion. As well as the 7 Elements of Art: Color, Value, Line, Texture, Shape, Form, and Space . I will touch on each of these in turn. Balance Balance refers to the feeling of Stability or balance of a work of art. Now, There are three types of balances: symmetrical, asymmetrical and radial. Symmetrical Balance Symmetrical balance is easy to see. It is when two halves of a work are identical or very similar. This can be top and bottom, side to side, or any other direction you want to split the Piece down the middle. In this case, symmetrical balance is provided by the mirror opposites of Color, not shape Asymmetrical Balance Asymmetrical balance takes into account of qualities such as hue, intensity, value, size and shape. The qualities have an effect on the 'weight' of objects in a work of art. You must take into consideration that Qualities like those listed will affect how much "weight" is in one area of the piece. This Piece is also Asymmetrical as the difference in shapes are offset with the weight of the heavier color. Radial balance Refers to balance within a circular shape or object. Emphasis Emphasis is also known as contrast. It is a way of using the elements to stress the difference of certain elements. Emphasis would be accomplished by using sudden and abrupt changes in elements. Usually, emphasis is used to direct and focus the viewer's attention to the most important or centers of interests of a design. Centers of interests of a design are areas of a piece where you look at the most and hold your attention, because it catches your interest. Harmony /Variety Harmony refers to a way of combining similar elements (line, shapes, color etc.) in an artwork to accent their similarities. It could be accomplished by using repetition and gradual changes. Pieces that are in harmony have an overall uniform appearance. Variety is a way of combining elements in ways to create complicated relationships. A picture may have a variety of hues, values, lines, textures and shapes. A picture made up of many different hues, values, lines, textures, and shapes would be described as complex. Complex pictures increase visual interests. However, keep in mind that harmony and variety are not opposites. A careful blend of the two principals is essential to the success of almost any work of art. Artist who only focus on harmony and ignores variety might find it easier to achieve balance and unity. However, visual interest in the piece would be lost. On the other hand, artists who only focus on variety and not harmony would make their works too complex. As a result, the viewer would be lost and confused. Furthermore the overall unity of the piece would be lost Gradation Gradation refers to a way of combining elements by using a series of gradual changes. For example, a gradual change of small shapes to larger shapes, or a gradual change of a dark value to a light value, would be gradation. I wont go into much detail here, as I am sure we all know what Gradients are, just keep in mind that they apply to more than just color. Movement /Rhythm Movement is used to create the look and feeling of action. It guides and moves the viewer's eye throughout the work of art. Movement is achieved through placement of elements so that the eye follows a certain path, like the curve of a line, the contours of shapes, or the repetition of certain colors, textures, or shapes. Rhythm is a principle that is closely related to movement. Rhythm is a principle of art that's difficult to summarize in words. Assuming that you've picked up on a rhythm in music before, take what you heard with your ears and try to translate that to something you'd see with your eyes. Rhythm, in art, is a visual beat. A pattern has rhythm, but not all rhythm is patterned. For example, the colors of a piece can convey rhythm, by making your eyes travel from one component to another. Lines can produce rhythm by implying movement. Forms, too, can cause rhythm by the ways in which they're placed one next to the other. Really, it's easier to "see" rhythm in just about anything other than the visual arts. Literally-minded types should stick to music for rhythm. Proportion Proportion is used to describe the relationship of certain elements to the whole and to each other. It is a principle of art that describes the size, location or amount of one element compared to another (or to the whole) in a piece. It has a great deal to do with the overall hamrony of an individual piece. Its like making a pie, if you have to much salt, your pie tastes like poo. If your art has to much of one element, your art will look like poo.

Inall fairness, I used clipart for the sword and tutorials

I use a variety of programs, however I find that Daz3d is the simplest to start off with and see success. The User Interface is friendly, and there are a lot of options avalible for Dressing up existing 3d models". Good thing its a free program, BC you soon outgrow it. I got Autodesk about 3 days ago .... seems cool, but I'm on a steep learning curve. Will be able to tell you more about it later.

Is this a legal version of mccodes with a valid licence? It looks like the key that is written into valid versions is not allowing your files to communicate. It could be that you have an issue with matching key-codes, or it is not properly installed. Then again, I suck at coding and can barely make mccodes work.

Goes to show the use of 3d in text based games has an entire variety of applications.

I figured that the majority of this community would have good input on how to PROPERLY implement the idea. Keep refining the suggestion till we find something that would be feasible and have a positive impact. What I picture is a section like General, Everyone could view the posts, and if you had an answer or suggestion, and didn't have authority to post, you could always mail the noobie the answer. I also think that it should be limited to about 6 topics covering the basics of developing a web game. 1. choosing an engine - Threads would include topics like, What engines are available on MWG, Cost, function, look/feel, programing difficulty, ect. 2. Whats it really take to build a web game - Threads would include topics like, hosting, coding, graphics, all the other things it takes, ect. 3. Resources - Threads would include topics like, navigating MWG, Who is good at what, Programs you can use, ect 4. FAQ - Threads would include topics like, All the stupid questions us noobies never fail to ask over and over again. And if there is already a thread that deals with that, it can be linked in the noobie forum, doesn't have to be duplicated. You guys get the idea?

Best Vampire related Character/Actress?
Lilith replied to Nickson's topic in Media Entertainment (FKA Tv Shows)
Kristin Bauer - Pam in True blood. Shes smart, sassy, sexy, and has a Id rather eat you than waste my time on you kind of attitude. Aalihya - Akasha in Queen of the Damned - Hello I'm powerful, sexy, and thirsty. Frank Langella as Dracula - Its Dracula, what more could you want? -
I believe that this would be a great opportunity for both amateur game builders and amateur artists. With enough graphics, packs could be purchased in a variety of themes, individual images, and many other ways. It would be a cost effective way to purchase a large quantity of images and share the art costs with other developers.

you know, it could be done with user levels. If user level =1-10 print you do not have access to these forums. If user level =N show forums or whatever .... BTW im a horrible coder

I kinda saw it as a stepping stone for new members. In case you guys missed it, membership of so many days also removed them from the criteria, so Alain would not be a noobie. If he didn't need that information, he could absolutely skip right to the big boys and never be bothered with the noobie forums, however, noobies posting to noobie forums with stupid ideas / questions ect would not be eaten alive by the @$$holes on MWG unless they got the bright idea to stick their noses outside the noobie forums before they were ready. Im not sure I understand what you mean by mod load Jordan. Edit: I get it, moderator load. Thats why certain people who are not mods can volunteer to get noobie passes to go help them. You know, people who have patience, are well spoken (that rules me out) and good at explaining things without talking down to people. It would might lighten the load on moderators as you would be deleting fewer flaming posts, spend less time dealing with noobs, and have the cluttered noobie area of chaos, while the rest of the forum learned to be nicer.

I just realized that somehow I managed to graduate from Complete noobie to certified stupid head, or something like that. Anyway, Last spring when I joined the forums, I was completely intimidated by the coding, skill, and experience shown here on MWG! I was afraid to say anything! But I desperately wanted to learn, What i got was confusion, speaking above my head, and a lot of noob bashing. Im tough, and I made it through and managed to make a freind or 2. I think I have 4 total now woot woot. Anyway. There is a suggestion here: A section for noobies to post their questions where the general population cant sink their teeth into the fresh meat. You would have to grant certain people above (eg: Trainee) level to be able to post there and help out the noobies. Slowly but surely the noobies(Trainee or below, or certain days on site) would emerge from that forum and start contributing to the MWG community.

Good point Dave, I understand where you are coming from and you could have said that from the start. You could do George a favor and explain it to him as well. He questioned the legality of my gfx. Its kinda like buying a program and getting paid for using it. (examples ... word, works, Photoshop, ect) Its not like you sold the programs you used, just the images you created with it.

http://forum.daz3d.com/viewtopic.php?p=1285490&sid=e7b99bf513a5acf18fc334017c40741c Read it there if you have any doubts George. May I point out blondie9999 Joined: 10 Oct 2003 Posts: 7443 DAZ Brokered Artist Posted:02 Jun 2008 11:29 There are some people who use products sold here to make illustrations, such as for book covers, CD covers, etc., as well as for making posters and art prints and the like. You cannot re-sell any of the products sold here, or give them away or otherwise redistribute them. You can, however, sell pictures rendered using these products, or animations, or other such things. For instance, you could render a picture of the Millennium Dragon, have the picture put on coffee-mugs or T-shirts, and sell them-- and some people do that sort of thing using online stores such as CafePress. As with any other graphic art, building up a business takes a lot of time and work. You're not going to be "making a living" off it anytime soon, if ever.

I should never take that long! It never has, there is something wrong with my putter.
-
This cross program .obj file thingy kinda sucks! but, there is what I have so far ..... took over 1:20 min to render ...... WTF over? I hope I dont have an issue with my gfx card :$

Oh yes, I am getting into animation next semester and have played with it a little. Truth be told, I kinda suck at posting more than my opinion as I write it in the forums, I am lucky to be able to post images correctly LMFAO, Other than embedding a youtube video, I have no clue how to post any animation s I have played with.
