Funny how a good template can generate interest in partnerships, yet nobody knows anything about this guy's skills or abilities. Only that he bought a good template from a family member. Anyway, would the PSD's be included in the purchase of this template?
-
Dexter, having gone that rout myself once, I would suggest holding off on that purchase. When I started, I didn't know enough to make an educated decision, but I find myself Extremely limited in further development of my game running the mccodes engine. Take your time and avoid the investment of time, money, and effort into something that doesn't really fit your needs. If you want this explained in plain English, feel free to PM me, and Ill be happy to discuss my opinion with your out side this thread.

Lots of us that use mccodes don't have a clue about coding / game creation when we start out. Mcc is easy to deploy, a complete package, has tons of modifications, and a support community that can/does answer noobie questions. For a clueless twit like I was, why would I look any further when all those words of warning against it were gibberish to me (yes, you guys talked WAY above my head, but it didnt stop me from making a game, despite you thinking it was dumb of me to try.). Mcc holds a special ability to mass produce several games that will make you $ if you advertise them well enough. Short dev time, money to be made, and easy to do.

I have noticed that game admins / staff are not on the list...... In all honesty, a game can have all of the above, but if it is run poorly, I'm done with it. No matter how great the coding, story, community, and artwork, if you don't have a staff that will / can do their jobs and keep things fair, its not worth the time and effort to play. There are a million other games out there just like this one where I can find staff who will stop cheaters and do their jobs.

dang, who doesn't want to improve their skills to go from a text based php platform to a fully rendered 3d game like World of Warcraft? Player wise and developer wise I would prefer 3d rendered .... if I had the skills to do more than edit a few basic mcodes mods. In the mean time, Ill play with my 3d programs and use them to make fancy images for a simple text based game. *sigh*

Developer May Be Needed - Mild PHP Coding [Prison Survival]

hmm, someone is off to a bad start. Hard to comeback from something like this. -
lol, you wouldnt even have to make a whole new layout, the color gradients on the layout part were great, and created a lot of focus on your image .... which scared me.
-
I think it looks great as a layout, your execution of this is almost perfect in my opinion. The only thing I dont prefer is how dark it is. I found myself trying to find details in the header image but all I saw was darkness. I feel like im in a dungeon and dont want to be there long. help me help me someone turn on a light lol. I am afraid that it might make people uncomfortable. (or maybe its just that I never outgrew my fear of whats in the dark)

Yeah, being able to equip to many items will throw off the balance of your game and it will quickly die out. Once you have "Mr. Powerful" who got all these items and just kept adding, the new guys wont stand a chance and will quit your game. There are tons of reasons to stick to equipping a limited number of items, but I wanted to point out longevity of the game. Whats the point of spending a year or two developing a game that dies out in 6 months?
-
lol Trucky, 2000 items hu? men and their toys crack me up! with that many items, I would seriously consider scaling down a bit. I have found out over the last year that no matter how much you plan and add ballance to your game, once you go live, someone messes it all up for you. Thats a lot of items to allow room for error in. Start small and release expansions to your game so you get a better idea of how your audience will be playing your game, it never goes as planned. Oh, and remember Murphy's law.

OMG, that guy with 7 stomaches that always ate the cat scared me when I was little! Stickem Up!
-
no thats great! 19. whatever kb limit really was a bit harsh tho ;) Thank you for this change. Im happy now.
-
I sure can Alain .... but only BC you asked nicely .... The image size restrictions on the uploads really kill the quality of my graphics tho!
-
lol peter, its a super cheap layout that is fully coded.... developed to be affordable for everyone and easy to install for the newest of noobs without changing a lot about mccodes to allow for easy editing of the code for a new coder. And with only two images ... if they were half way decent with photoshop, they can change the header / footer anyway they like. Its meant to be simple, of course, as always with my work, you get what you pay for. If you want more, you have to pay more ;) Im in the process of developing several "just upload" templates in different themes. This being the simplest. Of course if someone wished to have a more complicated design with this same layout, Id be happy to quote them for custom graphics. Perhaps you would like this one better? http://i749.photobucket.com/albums/xx135/Sanguine1_2009/mafia2.jpg Im adding it to the lsit fo "just upload" layouts as soon as I clean up the css files .... it will run about $100

I think most people here have missed the point that blade is offering code skills, not design skills. Apparently, he needs someone else to make the images, and he will code them. I cant really blame him for not wanting to get hounded by make this for me for free crap and waste his efforts to learn. Yes he is learning, and learning takes time. Ill at least give him props for wanting to learn and not asking everyone to do it for him.

I was thinking of going with DJK's described method (thats what I meant) bc the FAQ is not an image, its coded into the header as a link so they can go to say a tutorial. I also thought you were referring to the navigation links ect. I guess I need to explain that the image you see is an actual screen shot of the layout coded into a mccodes testing site that no one else can get to but me (I only have one licence, so no register page). It is primarily css with only two images (header and footer) all the fonts, colors and lettering (ecept the game logo) are controlled by the css files (yes there are two, one for layout one for styles)

Wow firecamp, with an attitude like that, I can guarantee that I wont be recommending your top site to anyone. While Peter could have worded his attempt at helping you differently, you have shown your immaturity and unprofessionalism in a thread where you are trying to generate business. I Do not spend my money with people who treat potential clients like they are below them, and I dont deal with people who wine about how hard things are.
-
Good points Zu, even I only remember the hazy fog of trying to figure out how to install things to mccodes, do you think a font styling would be to difficult for the very beginner game developer this is aimed at? I can easily set it in the css, but should I just choose a browser friendly font and call it good with that?
-
Thanks DJK, each one gets easier than the last, I kinda wanted to see if I could create a layout that could be purchased in a zip file, upload to stock mccodes and be done with it, and I acheived that. You know how I struggled with this stuff when I first started.

Simple Gothic style layout that would fit well for a vampire, demon, witch or other Gothic type game. Fully coded and integrated with Mccodes. these are screen shots on a live server. fully coded copies of this layout are available for $50.

LOL Peter, I think you forget how difficult web designing is for people without the experience to do so. While you may be right (Ive not visited the site) I think instead of being insulting, you should offer your design services, or mine ;)
-
lol Alain, thanks for the input, Im sure this site will undergo many many revisions, however, as I am mostly doing what design work I can for private foundations and small businessmen that I know personally, I wanted to reflect my personality. I never get to design for myself, so I did what makes me happy. And as this is not my main source of income, and probably will never be, I want me to be happy with it. The contrast on the text is Defiantly on the to do list tomorrow when I actually have time to sit down and work on it without it being after a 12 -14 hour workday. (workday = manual labor, so im always tired when I get home lately) Thank goodness for two weeks paid vacation .... now we see if I get called in during it.
-
most of that is due to designing it and coding the html in one single night ... by the end of the night, I was tired and ready for bed so I threw it in there without adjusting on the css sheet that controls it. I would fix that issue long before releasing it as a paid product. Edit: Mafia Layout is complete with a few minor changes from original to make it work with mccodes header file. http://i749.photobucket.com/albums/xx135/Sanguine1_2009/mafia-1.jpg

Ive yet to finish building this site, as I'm building it in between a full time job and my graphic design / web building jobs. But this can give you a breif idea of what I am capable of doing. http://www.battleforpurgatory.net/Mirinda/index-3.html

$80 to $130 sounds reasonable for the level of detail in the image shown, I often do mascots in 3d for $50 to $100 the hard part is guaranteeing that the work is in fact your own. Mine is easy to verify as I can provide creation files, animate the characters, show them in different poses, ect ect. But hand drawn / 2d images are much harder to provide proof of creation for. Have you considered watermarking your images through a company that can track them online?
